A lack of class cost us. Too many silly mistakes and skill errors. The goals from frees and 50 metre penalties were crucial. The sooner Petracca, Trengove and (a fit) Brayshaw replace the likes of Matt Jones, Stretch and Bugg the better. I like Stretch, but he (and Harmes) has plenty of time to come in (and out) of the side as he develops. We really need to win the next 2 games.

Haha It never occurred to me that I didn't mention his name, but yeah, it's clear who I meant.

I'm going hard and early. It's a ridiculously small sample size, but I can't think of a better "first dibs" midfielder in my time watching the Dees. His ability to get first hands on it and then execute clean use under immense pressure is extraordinary.

That's great mate. I'm more interested in comments about the game by people who were there.

His selection has zero to do with Petracca or Trengove.

I assume you mean MMM. He's not on SEN.

If anyone was in any doubt about Dunn's "fall from grace" they only have to hear Roos' comments, i.e how he's "responded" and picking an "in form team".
-
He'd adjust and not be the thug he was then. Best player I've seen.

My eldest Brother was on the Hawthorn senior list with Matthews for 3 years. I don't think they spoke a word off the training track.

Really like this.

The same Leigh Matthews who was bemused at Jack Fitzpatrick being a defender against the Dogs when he'd played all year at Casey as a defender ? Leigh does no homework, rocks up on the day and firms castiron opinions based on limited exposure. As has been pointed out, he ruled a line through Hogan's ground level creativity, which is inane, because he's one of the smartest and best handballers at the club. And now he doubts his body type. Alas, H has left the building (to the gratification of many), but if he was still around he'd ask Leigh whether he knew Hogan ran 3 seconds flat for the 20 metre sprint at DC (very good for a power forward), whether he knew he was top 10 in the beep test or that he was top 10 in the 3km time trial, which is clear evidence of a power forward with an excellent combination of speed and endurance. He'd ask him whether he knew he'd excelled at CHB and played midfield to effect in juniors. And he'd ask him why he'd missed those long hard leads while marking under heat at high half-forward/wing. He'd also show him this gif, which highlights agility and dual sided skill. And for good measure: hitting a pack at speed But I suspect he'd also eat some humble pie over that first interview...

I've noticed you over think things.

Look, I'm not going to keep arguing this, because it's a waste of time, but why "is it fair to say" ? It appears that your view is based upon pure fiction due to his state of origin. And if that's all it is you may as well shut up, because it's nothing more than guess work and certainly not "fair to say".
-
You said, "He's gone and has agreed to terms with Freo". I'm saying that is patent nonsense. You can please yourself.
-
There's nothing "clear" about it.
-
I don't trust "industry sources". He's not a free agent and can't do a deal with anyone.

Your gut feeling (and that's all it is) has as much weight as my gut feeling that thinks he'll stay. Neither is worth more than the other. The only difference is that you'll say it ten times more than me. It doesn't matter how often you say it. It still won't carry any more weight.

And who told you this, Tiger ?

I wanted Brayshaw in round 1 last year. I wanted Oliver in round 1 this year. I don't want Weideman in the senior side because he's not ready. It's got nothing to do with conservatism, more having a feeling for the game.

This bloke was right under our nose, but we went for Wagner instead. I like the look of Wagner, but imagine Papley and Garlett roaming the forward-line. The recruiters have done well recently, but we may rue Papley as one that got away.
-
I hope he spends another 10-12 weeks or so at Casey. I'd be happy if he spent the whole year there. He's a fair way off being able to compete against bigger bodies. There's just no need to rush things. Sometimes playing AFL fast tracks your development and sometimes it hinders it. I see no upside to Weideman playing too soon.

As I've mentioned, I haven't seen the game and can't bring myself to, however... We were in front with 10 minutes to go. How does a team that has had over 100 possessions less and is being killed on the spread get back in front ? I know Daniher kicked inaccurately, so I suppose that was partly it and perhaps they too butchered the ball, which in turn handed it back to us.

Where were we attacking from ? Attacks start from turnovers. We were either regaining possession/s close to their goal, near the middle of the ground, or our attacking half. Last year it was predominantly in the opposition's half of the ground. I'm guessing it was the same on the weekend. Hawthorn regain possession far closer to their own goal, which is what we're aspiring to do. I get that they had 128 more disposals, so perhaps you're saying it was problematic. Thanks.
