At least she’s out of Geelong.

The game/league etc feel like that to me currently

Clubs feeling a bit hollow at the moment.

What a chokey club we are at the moment

I see the media as largely coming from within the afl. They’re definitely not independent. If you want access you stick to the talking points. They have taken on the modern media style of being ever present regardless of quality of content. Could just be I’m not the target audience but I rarely read or listen to anything worth listening to these days. can’t help think that they are leaving a huge window open for someone with a brain and some creativity to come in and create all kinds of great content along the lines of long form journalism and more stats based analysis. Most sports leave the afl for dead these days in this regard.

The media are doing the afl no favours in my eyes

If you look at data the afl is the healthiest it’s ever been. If we get a bit more qualitative I think there is an under current that is steadily growing that would suggest the game is in a dangerous position. personally I have stopped watching non Melbourne games because even trying to watch them as a relaxed impartial viewer I get [censored] off with the umpiring. At no stage in my lifetime has there been less interest outside peoples own clubs than currently. The afl knows how loyal we are, but they need to be careful. I don’t know anyone who isn’t fed up with the league. i do wonder how much gambling has had an effect since coming to dominate afl advertising. The nba refereeing issues in the past were closely linked to illegal gambling. I would think the adjudication of our game has been affected by the gambling dollar.

Disagree

He has said before that the answer is find some elite kicks through the middle of the ground.

Are they excuses or reasons? People who bang on about our finals record conveniently ignore factors out of our control and then go onto their favourite gripe as if the finals record is evidence. what is clear is that nearly every season there is a fine margin between at least two teams and it is the small things that add up to make a difference. That was evident this year. if our game plan sucks then why did McRae use it when the going got tough all finals? Perhaps because the game plan they became known for doesn’t hold up when it comes down to it.

At least I have a vision for the future

The crows are throwing a tanty. Historically quite good at throwing them but haven’t generally lead to great success

You clearly live in an echo chamber of happy clapper demon supporters who over rate their list. Pettys best is behind him. Mini rebuild time cause we suck
-
With petty our chances of making the grand final would have gone right up. In hindsight it may have been the difference. Considering we lost two finals by less than two goals and Collingwood won three finals by about 2 goals it was a season of very fine margins. God, imagine if we had melksham and Gus. We could have romped it in.

No I didn’t. I know what you meant. You’ve run out of dribble for the day, that’s fair. I’ll see you when something else bad happens, like we lose a game or the best player we’ve had in a few decades gets traded. Keep up the paradiddles my child.

More well rounded based on what. Has he been the best player in the league the last two years prior to this one? What on earth could you measure. He hasn’t played. Clarry has such a rare skill set. It’s hard to compare him to anyone. Treloar and Stephenson are what you are comparing him to? In what world are they even working as his butler? there’s a reason every supporter of every other club is now saying get the war chest out, what picks do we have to offer, get it done etc.

You have to look to actual royalty to find a more silver spooned situation
-
Statistically it is trending well but I can’t help think there are a number of holes appearing in the boat and the afl are choosing to ignore the holes and point to the shiny things. I wonder how that plays out over the next decade or two.
-
They are statistically incredibly lucky. I also deeply hate them. It’s no trope. No other team is capable of creating the hatred they can. On so many levels too

The decision between going to football games and playing golf is getting easier by the year
-
I really dont like the afl at all. I love the mfc but I have no interest in anything outside of it. It’s a corrupt backwater league. No integrity, corporatised to within an inch of its life. Unaccountable executives have meant I haven’t enjoyed watching it in years.

How do players lose the skill of kicking straight?

Depends how you practice though as well. Block practice vs variable or creative practice etc -
Campbell Brown calls the Melbourne Football Club "fragile"
von replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
No one in the media spoke about our injuries after our semi final loss till the start of next season. Same things happening now. We had no forward line! We will be in the top 4 flag favourites pre season again. They will be talking about how it’s a small fix that will make us unstoppable. The media are short sighted and reactionary and driven by click bait nonsense. Being soft, fragile etc gets more clicks than they did a lot right and got some really bad luck with their forward line through out the year. Our game plan is sustainable. We have A grade talent. We are good to go- 83 replies

I don’t think any team would consider us soft after playing us. We are a pretty brutal contested football side

Tune in next year to find out
