  1. Why did it have to rain. Makes it a closer call than it would have been if dry
  2. The afl need to stop. Just shut up with new announcements and changes for 5 years. You are custodians of an old game with many traditions. You are not running a vibrant start up or cutting edge business. The game is healthy. The afls priority should be getting its gambling money replaced and finding a way to look after concussion without ruining the game. Beyond that, please just stop. I want less rules, less American entertainment ideas. Just less generally.
  3. Adelaide scare me. Their forward line when firing is one of the best and impossible to stop. I’m glad we are playing them in melb. They will win a flag in the next 5 years. I am feeling confident that we will build to finals and beat Adelaide in the process. Would like to see chandler back in. Spargo rested, if someone is capable of playing his role. I have no idea if anyone can. It seems we supporters have no idea what metrics are used for spargo or anb. Maybe smith over Tomlinson for this game. Adelaide’s forward line is athletic. Smith is athletic.
  4. my biggest questions are about forward line structure. Can we play melksham and Fritsch together? who plays forward when all fit out of jvr, brown, McDonald and Grundy? petracca must surely play at least 50% forward after the last fortnight too. I saw the game as about a 50/50 split. When Brisbane were on top we looked helpless. What needs to improve for us to stop them looking so good in offense as they did in the middle of the game. Ideally we need to shorten periods of dominance to less than half the game.
  5. But there is proof that in the nba this happened over a period of years. It has been stated by referees themselves, investigated by the fbi. There are many parallels between the way gambling Money exists within the two sports. There are also examples of match fixing in sport throughout history. Sounds like you’ve taken on an ideology not unlike those who think the umpires are specifically against us. Lots happens in five decades. For example, gambling money floods the sport and holds a lot of power over the game. For what it’s worth I agree that your version of watching the game and ignoring the umpiring is the best way to watch the game. I just don’t think it’s true.
  6. Do you think umpires try to keep games closer than they otherwise might be when one team is starting to get away from the other? There is evidence in other sports that this is true. The money made by the afl per gambling dollar spent is hard to ignore. The closer the game the more money spent. They don’t cheat against us, but they manipulate outcomes generally to maximise profit when they can.
  7. Going from deeply concerned that we had no answers and looked impotent for 2 quarters to what unfolded felt very similar to this time in 2021. Didn’t seem to happen in one game in 21 but there was a similar journey as the season came to a close. Suck eggs Zorko. Gawn finding some form, petracca kicking goals with ease, rivers continuing on with his year as well as Viney. Maybe that was the game to get kossie going offensively, he seemed to find his way into it. Having an Oliver and petracca less midfield for large chunks of games recently and still competing in there is a big find for the back end of the year. Helps find a place for Gus and gives the forward line an edge with petracca going nuts while his opponent tried everything that is well beyond illegal in this game
  8. They’re genuinely doing as they like with us. I’m nearly ready to put a line through us for the year and I’ve considered myself in the optimistic brigade all year. It’s starting to look like we need an aggressive trade period or a re brand as goody might put it, cause we are cooked.
  9. We look slower than them and they are supposed to be slow. We don’t have much feel, flow, confidence craft etc at the moment. They tightened up and we started second guessing ourselves. Only one quarter. Much to play out.
  10. Why don’t we get the nonsense home ground free kicks but they somehow get them
  11. I have found the best way to assess a game is to be there and then watch the replay. The tv seems to tell a limited story on its own
  12. Sensitivity is at an all time high. You’re right. You are calling people out left and right for seeing things differently to you. You go after people who had or have a different opinion to you when you are frustrated that the team we all love didn’t do what we wanted them to do. Everyone here is calling it as they see it. That’s kinda how this works. Turns out there’s heaps of ways to see anything. You can be frustrated without having to call people to account as if it’s their fault we lost.
  13. You’re charming. Imagine taking it personally that some people are optimistic. Getting personal when your team loses. Disgraceful behaviour. Red card. You and @JimmyGadson need a spell watching another sport. This is clearly not good for you.
  14. I’d take it over gambling money. Only in the context of sponsors in sport and the flow in effect of that money. Maybe we could get some nuclear energy money flowing into the game.
  15. About time. They’ll sniff out more money elsewhere. Hopefully money with a less corrupting nature. Nothing has been worse for the game than gambling money. Even if it meant the game just had less money, still a great outcome.
  16. There’s no need for that good sir. the good people of Kew would have you believe they are nowhere near the northern suburbs. But they are much closer than they would like to be
  17. I believe Fairfield nth is thornbury
  18. Why do umpires get to umpire teams back into games against us so often.
  19. I’ve got my custom hearing protection with the strongest filter and my noise cancelling headphones to go over them. Then I’ve got my blinkers on so I can watch just the game and not have to look at any of the generational scum surrounding me
  20. It’s amazing that we are playing in the rain and they are playing on a perfect dry afternoon. The contrast is hard to understand
  21. Lucky we have the best midfield we’ve ever had then. Weird how ineffective they are. It just doesn’t add up
  22. You wouldn’t blame him
  23. The afl don’t want us to win but we are also average
  24. Are we playing with too many thoughts in our head? We look like we are standing around thinking about what to do and making sure we are in the right spot while they just grab the football and run through the gaps.
