  1. Those games are decided by chance. That’s why Collingwood can’t be trusted. There was an article about games decided by less than a goal at the start of the year showing how lucky port were and look at them now. We all revert to the mean eventually
  2. That’s right. Like our streak early on. You are officially invincible until further notice at which point the sky is falling in.
  3. Getting a gun big forward would help heaps but we don’t have one. We have make do forwards. Bit hard in season to change that. We’ve well and truly been in all the games we’ve lost. That says to me not a lot has to change, which doesn’t sound like a write off to me. We win the Collingwood game over 50 percent if you keep replaying it. the Collingwood loss may be a wake up call that some teams are really going now and if they want it now is the time to go too. everything in the future is a “possible” world. We are sputtering to the finish line at this stage but with signs that we arent far off. I think the coaches might be quietly confident with where we are trending. To be having a rough season and still be this close is a great sign. Well and truly close enough to win it all. Not saying we will but we are right there. Lots can happen in six weeks. I think we will run games out better each week from now till the end, whenever that is. not sure I agree with the plan b idea. Depends how drastic you see a plan b being. The bulldogs and Collingwood games were kind of plan b games. We played attacking shoot out ball and I didn’t like it. I like a system team that can make slight adjustments over wholesale changes in game. Defends is built for finals and we aren’t there yet. A couple of players finding a bit more form and things start looking different again.
  4. I don’t remember us changing a lot in game last year. We turned a few games around by lifting Intensity if I remember correctly. What sort of changes were we making in game last year that we aren’t now?
  5. So your analysis that ends with we won or lost is better? This is a forum to discuss our club, or which there is much to discuss. Some of it worrying, some of it positive. We played in an absolute cracker of a game and just lost one we should have won. We are playing better football than a month ago. Everything is trending up except our team defence which I think we can get back. We need to find some anger and some hunt but we are pretty close. Collingwoods hunt should be watched by our boys and replicated. We have it in us. I have faith we can get to a prelim and from there who knows. Sorry the game I watched looked different to the one you did. I’d put money on us next time we play them based on last night.
  6. Same as you mate. Get past the anger. It’s of limited use.
  7. It’s hard to watch. Especially when they are getting gift goals for theirs and ours don’t exist
  8. I think we are really close to playing great football again. We’ve seen it in patches recently. If not for collingwoods freakish accuracy we win that game comfortably. Despite our in reality all over the place season we are just losing games we are playing poorly in. I still think Collingwood are a middling side riding some [censored] wave that only they can. Whether it breaks sooner or later who knows. Us and Geelong are the best two sides in it still. We have a more sustainable brand that will work over time with tweaks here and there. Im hoping the Collingwood game gets the boys angry and reminds them once and for all that this isn’t going to just happen for us. It will be harder than last year but we have the team to do it. We have more room to improve than any of the top 4 sides by a long way. Let’s see how much ground we can make up.
  9. We do that quite often. We dominated the game in many areas. Our game plan as boring and predictable as it is is still a more sustainable one. We are a few players taking the next step or a bit of forward line cohesion away from playing great football.
  10. They will not kick that straight against us again. Talk about taking your chances. Gravity is undefeated and I look forward to it slapping those smug wankers back down to earth soon enough.
  11. We weren’t far off winning this game comfortably
  12. We are a semi functional forward line away from going back to back. We can find what we need in time but it won’t be easy
  13. Holding the ball has two interpretations. They have to revert to the mean with accuracy
  14. I’m very impressed with the arrogance of the average Collingwood supporter on my internet travels over the last few days. They are a supremely confident bunch. Even as reigning premiers we have never gone near them as a group. I’m very glad we haven’t.
  15. You wonder how anyone with a background in psychology, which you would hope someone from that organisation had, could draw up a program like this. We know a bit about things like trauma now and this was a recipe for exactly that.
  16. I wonder if players truly understand what is happening with their training programs and why. Players don’t need to understand the science they just need to turn up and complete the prescribed program. The way some players in the media talk it seems as though they don’t. I think this is also a generational thing. Training has changed a lot over the years I assume. From a mental standpoint I can see how players may be coached to work on mental application and preparation with the coaches adjusting their expectations depending on where they are in their training schedules. If players knew they were expected to perform at a lower level would that affect them on game day?
  17. We moved the ball well against the lions
  18. I can’t imagine that’s what they are measuring when looking at whether they are successful or not. Causing emotional responses and creating discussion points that stir debate would have to be number one with a bullet. I wish they were interested in educating the fans but I don’t see it. It feels more like a soap opera than a sport at times
  19. Sounds like he’s staying. The media have done it again
  20. Surely there’s room for that in a world that is currently void of it. A bit of dry amongst the dribble. I think there’s a lot of football fans crying out for it.
  21. But they really don’t dissect games much at all and this is why the afl media is a useless joke of a product that will hopefully one day be overhauled/modernised. Who amongst them would you say is a good analyst?
  22. Coaches and players public conversations in the media are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to intel they share. Why would they talk specifics. We looked a different team on Friday and it aligns perfectly with the grand theory. There comes a time when one must align themselves with the truth. When it becomes overwhelmingly clear it is the way. As was predicted we were running strong and moving as one. Much like the Brisbane game after a break. Now is the time doubters. Come with us and share in the spoils, for the grand final victory will be twice as good. *causes such as injury or other such god like interventions may prevent what is an otherwise inevitable result.
  23. the things that pass for analysis in the afl media are pathetic and you can only assume they think we are morons as a result. I am yet to find one really good football analyst in the media. Some commentators are good but everyone is short sighted and reactive. It’s gotta be by design.
  24. No we definitely do but when all our talls are off and or out their big marking players took advantage and we couldn’t do much about it. You still need a spine/pillars etc. I think we showed fatigue in that game but got blown out due to losing all aerial ability all at once and that was impossible to cover. There’s a tipping point with personel even when we are up and running fitness wise
