He is nowhere near as good or influential as either of those two. He also lacks versatility and is purely a midfielder.

Unfortunately I can't watch them live as I don't live in Australia these days. Most weeks I will watch the replay on the website. I was talking more specifically to being ready to play right now. Hulett is showing some promising signs and I am looking forward to seeing how White goes at AFL level (I'd expect in the coming weeks). But to say he can come in and replace anyone probably speaks volumes for why we struggle. A lot of the players in our team are replaceable because they aren't that good. If it didn't matter what people thought, there would be no point in having this forum, we could all just go to the club website and agree with Matt Burgans puffy pieces.

Like Stuie, I do find your preseason reports very helpful, but you still have not given your opinion on the matter, you have said you weren't surprised. Do you think Garlett deserves to play? While he does get a lot of goals over the back, I would imagine we break down going forward just as often because he doesn't/cant lead at the ball carrier and we lack players capable of breaking the lines. And the last line is that same line we hear every pre season and not even close to true. We have a list now with a bunch of list cloggers and it appears certain players have already had their papers stamped. I would struggle to find a player in the VFL team that I would want in the AFL team. We've had a fairly good run with injuries and an easy draw, yet we are not in the 8. I expect more and like many others use this forum to voice my concern. Negative or realist.

One of the high free kicks was wrong, the rest were correct, whether you agree with the rule (or lack of) or not. Without watching the replay Breust missed a couple he would of normally kicked from set shots, Mcevoy missed from close range, O'Briens kick after the siren wasn't hard, Gunston missed a relatively simple kick. I beg to differ regarding their missed shots, nothing to do with pressure or forcing them on tough angles, but each to their own. We would just be going around in circles. If you think that was a competitive team effort, then I don't know what to tell you. We had the 3 best players on the ground and lost, how often does that happen?

Disagree massively with number 1, they missed many easy set shots. This Hawthorn team is nothing like the team of the last 3 years. They are a 5th - 8th team and we should have done better. To many passengers.
