  1. They wasted that much on Carlisle
  2. I don't disagree with your opinion (although to call Jenkins no action is strange for a player that has kicked over 60 goals in a season) but surprised you have voiced a strong one. If he was a Melbourne player (like Tomlinson) would you have said that?
  3. Nope, has been exactly as expected and why I was disappointed we chased him. Lacks urgency/intesity in contested situations, takes to long to move the ball when marking it and then does nothing with his kicks. The only time he did something noteworthy was the accidental pass to Hunt against Carlton. The amount of times he has made good position and then dropped marks against undersized opponents is infuriating.
  4. What are you basing this on Lord Nev? From my memory, we saw our draft board on one of the media productions and our top 5 was Rowell, Jackson, Green, Young, Robertson in that order. If Taylor had Green ahead of Rowell, he should be shown the door. Given that we took Pickett when Robertson was still available you could claim we didnt follow our rating there but I firmly believe we rated Jackson as the second best player in the draft.
  5. Not for mine, if the next Judd goes the pick after North's that's the opportunity we have missed out on. Not unhappy with Pickett, but this trade is dependent on where we finish and the opportunity we have missed. If it's a Ben king quality player, we are losers, if it's Paddy Dow, then good call. Not all drafts are made even but it's not looking good at this stage.
  6. You are ignoring the part where we also gave up pick 26 and 50 to the Kangas so it is not fair of you to include Rivers as we would have had him regardless. If we don't make the finals, it's a [censored] trade.
  7. I will probably be in the minority, but YES. Is ten times the player Lever is.
  8. I think so. Good media performer? Lacks the ability to answer a question and is boring as bat [censored]. He might be good at other aspects but he certainly isn't a good media performer.
  9. I think the coaches assessed the game similarly to me. Gawn was not awesome and neither coach saw him as one of the best 5 players on the ground.
  10. Well I can see where he is coming from. Need to have pure talls and pure smalls. The hybrids are not applying the pressure we require and are not bringing the ball to ground.
  11. I thought we had two players who played acceptable games based on their expected outputs. Petracca and Hibberd. I hold Gawn to higher standards and don't think he was as good as he should have been. Issues such as an inability to kill the ball on the goal line for the second week in a row continue to undo some of his better work.
  12. Will agree to disagree but I find your opinion to be very contradictory given you claimGrundy couldnt beat Phillips on Friday night. Given the quality of opponents Gawn has faced this far, he should be dominating and I don't think he is.
  13. Influential? Sure he had 4 score involvements and twice showed AFL standard skills to hit a leading forward inside 50. If the benchmark for Gawn is breaking even with someone like Chol or Nank we are wasting our money. He should be dominating these guys, taking big marks and kicking goals. Are you Simon Goodwin? What influence did Gawn have on the game? Sure he helps us get it forward, but that doesn't win you games of football. Are you gonna celebrate that we won the inside 50s? When did Gawn take a big mark or set up a goal? I'm not interested in a tall player with average skills getting 22 posessions, this is on of the reasons we can't connect with our forward line. If he can't get a quick handball of to a runner, we are restricted to a long kick down the line or a loopy 20 meter pass.
  14. Like when Chol streamed out of the center and hit Riewoldt lace out while Gawn was lying on the ground in the center? We must have been watching different games, I can't remember ever seeing a Melbourne player do that.
  15. Nankervis got a goal and 3 score involvements in his 46% ground time. Gawn had a direct turnover inside defensive 50 and one score involvement from the whole game. We were losing clearances by about 5 when Nankervis went off. Nank had 11 pressure acts to gawn's 15 despite being on the ground half the amount of time. I expect and we require a lot more from our captain. Is having an ordinary season and wouldn't be in the top handful of Ruckman on his form this season.
  16. He got those hit outs in the last quarter once Nankervis was injured. Gawn's form is an issue, his inability to kills balls on the goal line once again on show. Needs to be stronger in the contest.
  17. 100% agree, but I can't believe he has shown up and continued to do it again this season. They have that many coaches they employ. He needs to be tackled by Vandanberg non stop at training and practice standing up and dishing off.
  18. I don't blame him personally, I blame Mahoney and co for getting him. My view hasn't changed in 3 years. It's an opportunity cost and a part of the issue.
  19. If you are focusing on just the game yes. If you are focusing on the trade, a disaster, for the salary we are paying and the draft picks we gave up. As you rightly point out we have many issues. We can't address some of these because we wasted our assets on a medium defender with average pace and skills.
  20. The frustrating thing for everyone is that this has been going on for two years and there's been no improvement with it. You don't even seen him trying to do it, he just wants to play hot potato.
  21. What is he in the side for? To play a negating role on Castanga? You really don't seem to get it. He either plays on the best forwards as a negater or he needs to generate offense. What is his role?
  22. The fact we have these gapping holes and went out and spent two first rounders and a fat salary on Lever is entirely the issue.
  23. Luckily we can look forward to a top 2 draft pick...oh wait.
  24. They are overrated. Definitely not even close to being the most talented midfield. Gawn, Oliver and Brayshaw are all below average kicks.
  25. And we threw in a second rounder, he needs to go.
