He is scheduled to play his 100th game in 2017. I can't think if a better success story in recent years. He will have fought hard for every one of those 100 games. Just such an important player for us.

The longer the Jaeger deal drags on the cheaper Hibberd becomes. If GC and the hawks can't broker a deal, Jaeger goes into the PSD with a 700k price tag on his head. If Essendon want him, they need to have 700k in cap space. If the Jaeger negotiations break down Essendon will need to dump Hibberd to free up 700k for Jaeger. If they carry Hibberd they are less likely to be able to sign Jaeger. The dees are playing this very well.

I'm not convinced the hawks won't move him. Sam Mitchell was traded for a half eaten bag of burger rings. I don't buy the "coaching succession plan" angle. The hawks have cap constraints and Lewis wants to cash in during the last 2-3 years he has left. Seems like a deal with us helps the player cash in, and the hawks free up cap room. 3rd rounder and a switch of 5th rounder gets it done.

I feel for Jack. His first few seasons were so exciting. I really thought we had a 200 game player and future club legend with Jack. It just all fell apart. Good luck to him, he is a great guy and deserves a second chance.

I really liked him in 2015 and thought he might be handy for us. 2016 was not a good year for him and it may cost him his spot. Good honest battler, but we needed a player like that years ago to stop the beltings. We have moved on from then and our young talent has pushed past him in the pecking order.

He is the one player I find hard to compliment, and at the same time I have a hard time knocking him. I really just don't know if he is going to get better, or remain the same. I guess we will find out over the remainder of his contract and then call it then.

If his body holds up he might get another 3 seasons of footy in. Bernie is still one of our best players, and was very useful across the backline. I agree with posts suggesting he played hurt. He looked proppy and wasn't himself towards the end of this season.
