I like Turner but surely Petty has to be in the team. Either way, we look well placed to be a huge threat this year.....

Cox was a damn good footballer. Gawn is a Hoover Damn good footballer.
  4. This is a forum based on emotional bias, not facts. Shame on you!
  5. Coincidentally, so am I. Got more time due to Covid 😷 One thing I read yesterday was the credit Max gave to Luke Jackson re improving Max's footwork post stoppage, his ability to spread quickly. He speaks of getting power into the first 3 steps after a ruck contest. He was always a great ruckman but It definitely improved his all round game. He wouldn't have kicked a 55m goal on the run like against Geelong in the PF 2 years before that game. This in something Grundy can improve on and if he can, those 2 will be even more formidable together.
  6. Geelong and Collingwood also have had the biggest duckers (you can swap the d for an f if you like) in recent years in Selwood and Ginnivan. They practice turning the legit chest high tackle into a free. Heaven forbid they let it happen to them!

Looks like we're going to get hooked into another round of Bad Dad puns. Let's weight and sea
  8. Thanks Lord Nev, on bestowing your 961st facepalm upon me (I'm sensing a theme here 🤔) I believe a prize should go to the 1000th which shouldn't be to far away. I'm certainly going to give it a crack.
  9. Sorry Demonstone, your point is well made. This is not the right thread, but may I add just one more point re Burgess. I had a quick review of his super impressive CV. Appointments at the Socceroos, Arsenal, Liverpool, Port Adelaide, Melbourne and now Adelaide. None (so far) have lasted 3 years. That is the point many of us here are making. So glad he came to us and brilliant at what he can achieve in that time frame, but the methodology is just not sustainable and he knows it. Now, back to Kozzy 😉
  10. https://territoryfm.com/archives/podcast/smwyg-jay-washington-a-k-a-black-ivy The common link. Maybe Darren Burgess knows the PT from his days at Arsenal and recommended him to Tom. Tom worked with him the previous season too. It also makes sense that if he has 2 AFL players in his stable that they train together.
  11. By his own admission, Burgess' first love is soccer, especially EPL, that is the majority of his background. That environment is very much instant success or you are out! That is what he achieved with us and he will always be revered for it. I don't blame him for our fade in '22, the fault lay with the coaching staff who though that style of fitness coaching was sustainable long term. Griffiths followed a Premiership formula and to a degree was dammed if he did and dammed if he didn't. I hope there is a highly collaborative fitness approach to this season to ensure we have the ultimate goal as our main focus. A Bart Cummings approach if you like.
  12. This view won't be popular because of the flag, but I think there is a fair degree of accuracy in this. By all accounts a large degree of resilience was achieved by pushing through pain and minor injuries but it was always highly likely come back to bite us. Hopefully no long term affects for players going forward.
  13. It was actually Demonstone who advised me Timothy (very graciously I might add). WCW was mentioned only to ensure I meet the EFFS test. I fear your Norm Smith puzzle may put you at risk. 😰
  14. Oops......seems it's been done before. All Melbourne Cup winning jockeys. OK, at the risk of WCW letting down my car tyres, I will work on something a bit more unique.
  15. Timothy has cracked it! I'll leave it open for a while for others to ponder.
  16. Timothy has supplied an answer that is on the right track, but this team has a very specific link.
  17. OK. Here's my two pence worth. Yes I'm that old, as are some of the players here. Not sure if this has been done in the past but here goes. See if you can guess the link in this MELBOURNE team. B. F. Davis. Tas Johnson. J. Shannahan HB. J. Evans. M.Pike. C.Clayton C. B.Wilson. C.Oliver. J.McDonald HF. H.Coles. C.Dawes. N.Brown F. P.Payne. D.Wiliiams. N.Clarke R. P. Moore. J.White. R.Taylor Int. F.Harris. R.Hall. D.Cooke. A.Lewis Coach. N.Smith Please PM your answer. Good luck.
  18. Biggest surprise to me in this piece was that Trac is a left handed golfer!
  19. The reason Geelong are so disliked is because the AFL for years have not enforced their own rules. Duckwood created a whole generation of duckers, arm raisers and knee droppers that were continually rewarded. Fortunately there seems to be some addressing of it this year, despite the persecution 'outcry' with Ginnivan. But it is a mess the AFL created through neglect. Unfortunately the blatant back shoves that Tomahawk does are laughingly described as 'strength' and don't get penalised. No other team I can think of has had 2 players who have got away with football murder for 15 years. Fortunately one has now gone and the other is surely one or two years maximum away from retirement. Maybe then we'll have a level playing field.
  20. Reading how well every player is going, I predict Casey will get the next AFL licence before Tassie.

I was straight onto it - got one! Eagerly waiting delivery 😁
  22. Yet again we only get 'half' a bye. R13 Collingwood on June 12, R14 BYE, R15 Geelong Thur June 22. Just 10 days like last year. Why?
  23. Not counting Covid year - that's 7 out of 8 seasons and 13 from 15. Enough already!

Bump v.2 I stopped playing altogether for 9 months earlier this this. I handed the clan over to another Melbourne supporter before leaving. I found out he recently changed the name from Melbourne Demons to a more generic AFL supporters name to attract more players into the clan. I found this disappointing given his brother played for the Dees in the 80's. Anyway, I felt the name needed to continue so I started to play again and re-started a clan called Melbourne Demons. Currently, I'm the only one in it and am enjoying the game again. Would love to have you as part of the clan if you play or would like to. Don't be put off by the horrible phrase of clan, it's all really just a bit of innocent fun.
