  1. I hate to criticise first year players, especially those that are clearly great kids and crack in like Kosi. But if you’re incapable of kicking those goals, you won’t have a very long career. Hope he can iron out that very clear deficiency in the summer.
  2. I reckon the poster in question has a lower strike rate than a Bailey Fritsch set shot.
  3. 7 changes normally rings alarm bells but off a 4 day break I reckon it’s not a bad call. Not sure the Gawn-Preuss combo is a good idea. We tried that a few times in 2019, and it didn’t work outside of one quarter against Sydney. I think Bennell’s career is on thin ice. You can make all the excuses you want, but the fact he’s not one of the 7 ins and not even an emergency speaks volumes. Hope he gets 1 more year, but I am expecting that he won’t. Glad OMac is out. I’m sure he’s a nice guy and tries his best out there, but his performance against Sydney was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Maybe the worst since Gillies against Essendon in 2013. Never again please.
  4. When finals are on the line... 2016 - lose to lowly Carlton with Dylan Buckley kicking 3 goals. 2017 - lose to lowly Collingwood. 2020 - lose to lowly Sydney with Justin [censored] McInerney (WHO?!??!?!) tearing us a new one. We are an embarrassment of a football club.
  5. I rarely venture onto the GAMEDAY threads during the live action but how can I not with that [censored] [censored]? Nathan Jones, go have a shower son. You’re done. Forever. Oscar McDonald, you are a joke. Finals gone on the back of being towelled up by 16th placed side and Justin McInerny, FFS you can’t write this [censored]. Wait we can. 2016 and Dylan Buckley. My goodness. What a club.
  6. The Darwin games last week were rubbish to watch because of all the sweat dripping onto the ball. Likely to be the same in Cairns? I’ll take 4 points in any conditions, but hoping we at least get a dry ball game.
  7. Would be great if he was a few years younger, but I reckon his type can play on well into their 30s. I think we have at least 3 more good years coming from him. Anyway, after being introduced as “All Australian full back Steven May” on the Sunday Footy Show, he has now been included in SEN’s rolling AA side at CHB. Playing his best game for the season in a prime time match everyone was watching has done his chances a world of good. Like I said earlier in the thread, the media hype plays a huge role in the selection of this team. He deserves to be there in any case.
  8. BRB, searching for Steven May highlights on Pornhub.
  9. I’m glad someone in the media has FINALLY brought his name up, albeit an ex MFC player. The AA team is meant to be based on performance but media hype plays a huge role in it too. People are still talking about Max Gawn being in the mix despite him missing 3 games and playing two average games before that. Love Max but he shouldn’t be in discussions any more. Petracca is locked in and May should be the other Melbourne player in discussions. Perhaps Oliver if he finishes strongly.
  10. Incredibly disappointing. I think at one stage in the third quarter they’d had 7 I50’s for 6 goals. Game over. I hope Melksham is made an example of in the review. He gave away one ridiculous 50m penalty, blatantly refused to put his body on the line in another marking contest, and allowed a shot at goal from 25m out to be touched by a Dogs midget. Simply not good enough from an experienced player and apparent leader. May is absolutely incredible and yet it looks like another season for him where he won’t get to play in a final. He deserves better frankly. We are wasting his talent, just like the Suns did. I mean, we could yet make it, but that would mean only losing one game from here. I have serious doubts. Looking forward to olisik, poita et al emerging after a few weeks in the wilderness. Yep olisik is already here on page 1. Almost as predictable as that performance...
  11. I gave Langdon a bake on here after the Crows game and was widely panned. OK, I thought, I’m going to watch him more closely from now on. And now I realise I was an absolute [censored] for baking him. He’s an absolute gun! Winners on every line tonight. As good a performance as I’ve seen under Goody. The lid’s off!
  12. Bang Bang Bang replied to Pates's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Those who want to criticize the May trade should read this. Not only was he instrumental in getting Harley Bennell to the club during the summer, he was also driving high standards in other players like Weid at the same time. No coincidence that Sam is now starting to beat most defenders in real games. May is having a pretty good year himself too with plenty more to give. I like Ben King too but the trade goes so much deeper than that IMO.
  13. Mitch Brown’s time to shine.
  14. poita’s wifi never seems to work after a win either! I’m sure it will be fixed by the time of our next loss.
  15. Given the last 14 years, I’d take a 1 point win over North. So to win by 57 points (should have been 100) is wonderfully satisfying. Petracca, Oliver and Brayshaw simply magnificent. Lever’s best game for the club. Spargo back to his 2018 form. Jackson lacks a bit of size, but his skill set.... WOW! Players of his size have no right to pick the ground ball up the way he does. 5-5 with plenty of winnable games left. Beat Collingwood and the lid is off!
  16. Just a dumb article. One sentence reads "In 2009 they took Tom Scully at 1 and Jack Trengove at 2. Nat Fyfe went at 20" That alone shows you how lazy and ill informed the article is.
  17. Serong looks really good but you won't find any Melbourne fans unhappy with the Luke Jackson selection.
  18. Was probably a bit of hyperbole on my behalf, but his kicking/fumbles in the first half, coupled together with some of the worst umpiring I’ve ever seen, had me nearly blowing a gasket.
  19. Best game of Clarry’s career. Welcome back Gus. Jackson is going to be amazing. Get the [censored] out of the team Langdon. Edit: Forgot to mention May. We may not ‘win’ that trade as such but we are getting great value out of it this season. May is a gun and plays with passion. Love him!
  20. Interesting to see all the negativity above. For mine, playing North in a Bunnings carpark off a 2 day break would even be preferable to [censored] Hobart. The fact it’s at Adelaide Oval - a ground we traditionally play better than any other - is an absolute bonus. Each to their own though.
  21. Where did you hear that Dazzle? Would prefer it if it was Sparrow playing and Gus dropped personally.
  22. Melts aside I’m starting to see why we sold the farm for May and Lever. May is probably in the AA squad of 40 at present. Love his arrogance.
  23. That Fritsch effort at the end really pisses me off. The umpire CLEARLY warned him he needed to get the ball back to the Lions player and he still carries on like a smart [censored] for no reason. Happens way too often in the AFL. Just give the [censored] ball back. You have nothing to gain from that.
  24. I don't understand how Lockhart seems to be an automatic selection. He doesn't get involved much and has given away goals every week with his mistakes. Am I missing something here? Give me Jetta any day.
  25. So we play the 3 best teams in the competition as well as North in [censored] Tassie again off a 4 day break. Adelaide we should win. Still that’s frightening.
