How exactly does a ‘side trade’ work? Is it inferring that we’d trade a ‘promising young mid’ to them on the cheap, in return for them allowing us to take Gaff as a free agent?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Great awareness and vision in close coupled with an excellent side-step and lateral movement- has the makings of a very good midfielder. May or may not play out the season in the 1st (fatigue, injury, etc.) but I’ve seen enough to be excited about 2020+.

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
Exactly. Whilst Oscar's game on the weekend wasn't great, he's had a fantastic season as our no 1 key defender. One match does not undo his great work through the course of the year. We saw him beaten by Cox v Collingwood, but Cox will do that to most defenders if there is no third man up or little midfield pressure being put on the person delivering the ball to advantage. The Footage Lyon shared on Fox illustrated there was little pressure being applied to the StKilda ball carrier when they got into space, KPD are going to struggle to cover this 100% of the time.

Trengove to Debut for Port
Hope he lights it up! Too much talent and commitment to not be able to play some sort of role at AFL level.

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
I think he’s a gun and Freo wouldn’t part with him easily. If he’s wanting to come home though, I’d be very happy to see us pursue him.

I can’t imagine a scenario in which he wouldn't be a band one... He’s young (turned 26 yesterday) he’s playing well (at least in AA squad at this stage) he’ll get a long contract, and he’ll be on good money. They’ll get band one, unfortunately for them, they look like finishing near the top of the ladder so they would only get a pick somewhere in the 15-18 range.

4 new pages to this thread today... anyone would have thought there was some Gaff news...

I did forget about him! At 204cm and a lot of power in the genes from his mum and dad, he'll hopefully come along in 4-5 years.

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
The ruck situation is a worry, with both of our developing or 'project' ruckmen being on the 'could go either way' list. Hopefully there's some unsighted potential there and we can keep at least one of them on and look to trade in a mature ruck to help out. It's looking very thin below Gawn and we need King or Filipovic to show something in the second half of the season.

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
There was 'crazy' talk a month or son ago about Murphy possibly being offered big money that could earn the Blues and band 1 or 2 compensation pick. That would be insanity for any club to pay overs for Murphy. With that said, Murphy could opt for two years at a successful or 'verge of success' club on a small contract - essentially trading the cash for success. If he was willing to come to us on such a contract, then I'd be happy to have him. (But I very much doubt he'd leave)

New CEO - Gary Pert
When it was announced by the AFL that PJ was coming into the club, I was disgusted that a former Essendon boss was putting his grubby paws on my beloved club... I’ve never been more wrong. I'm prepared to give former Fitzroy fullback Gary Pert a go.

Farewell Dean Kent
Kent lost me as a player last year on the back of a string of lazy performances. For all his promise and potential weaponry, he just doesn't get enough of the ball or effect enough contests. For a player of his speed, power and supposed physicality, he averages just 2 tackles and game and has kicked over 3 goals just once in his career (4 goals, round 3 2016). He's recorded over 20 disposals in a match six times in his career, 5 of those times were in 2016; did very little before and very little since.

Billings is a big ‘what might have been’ for us. Roos has said that the Kelly vs Tyson/Pick 9 debate is void as we rated Billings at pick 2 that year. Billings vs Tyson, Salem and Hunt... I think we’ve come out ahead. https://www.google.com.hk/amp/s/coupler.foxsports.com.au/api/v1/article/amp/afl/paul-roos-reveals-new-spin-on-2013s-blockbuster-trade-between-melbourne-and-gws-giants/news-story/20f8f893a20fcd0c57cf90e413938e49

When we win the flag this year, I think Vince and Lewis may bow out. That'll free up some cap space...
-
Adelaide’s Tom Lynch
Pretty sure Lynch was using us as leverage to jack-up his price with Adelaide. Fool me once, shame on you...
-
Jordan De Goey
I rate degoey, but we have no currency for a trade, unless of course we’re willing to trade out one of our equal or better young players.
-
Angus Brayshaw
He’s an inside mid- always has been, always will be. He was held back for injury, form and education, but now that he’s been unleashed he’s looked right at home for the first time in a long time.

Demons on Masterchef (16/5/18)
It was a bit of fun, good exposure and gave a very positive view of our club to the world. Was a little bit cringy that the women's team, who seemed to be present, weren't mentioned or acknowledged at all during the episode - everything was ''da boys'd love that''.

Kobe Farmer
A google search of his name brings up a bunch of match reports from WA football leagues (and a small role in the Cloud Street mini-series)
-
Kobe Farmer
I think the bigger concern would be that he seems to be living in WA, having played for Mandurah. Will be hard to get him all the way over to Victoria, and keeping him here. (Just ask his father)

Is Brayshaw more rounded than the Trac?
To think that the Brayshaw thread three weeks ago was screaming for him to be traded at fire-sale prices... We're a fickle bunch.

Time to show Oscar some respect!
You obviously haven't heard how much of a 'good bloke he is...'

Time to show Oscar some respect!
The lid is off! Oscar is now mainstream.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Was excellent today. Great vision, thinking in traffic and very quick hands. Can see him dishing out some lightning handballs from a congested midfield in the coming years.
