Hoping all is well with Max. But this does highlight why having a mature, fit, big-bodied ruckman at Casey was a very good list management decision by the club. Many were calling for Preuss to be traded last trade week, but a moment like this highlights how essential (but hopefully not needed) he is.

I’m no doctor and of course I defer to their better judgment... but, keep him on. The ‘football is a business’ line is not entirely true. Yes, it can be a cut-throat industry, but clubs must juggle between the business and human elements of their list management. If the set-back is minor and it’s something that was expected over the course of a long rehab, then take the opportunity to throw your support behind a player who is on his last legs.
Hannan, Spargo and ANB played as our smalls in the 2018 finals... none are options here. Of the list, Pickett looks promising, but I think we’re forgetting how valuable a fully fit Hannan is.

I think people who have been wanting a return of ‘State of Origin’ will be disappointed. This will be a fundraising exhibition match and will almost be in bad taste for the players to take it too seriously. Hopefully raises a lot of much needed funds, but don’t expect there to be much action on field.
I can't see how the logistics of this would work. They'd raise much more money if they dedicated Round 1 to bushfire relief. The places devastated by fire are going to need money and support for months, if not years to come. There's no need to rush an event of this scale.

Yep. Mcdonald turns 28 next year and after he and Weideman, the tall forward stocks are all but non-existent. Brown is very short term insurance and Georgiades wouldn’t be ready to play KPF for a few years.

I think it’s a bit of paranoia, which is fair enough after the years of Hogan ‘will-he-won’t-he’ drama. As far as I can see, we currently have 13 players on our list who were drafted from interstate. These three newbies will be part of a group of sixteen interstate players at the club who can empathise and support each other.
Reading that, it's a surprise that Young slipped as far as he did.
