He's not a player that immediately springs to mind when you consider the great players of the '00s. That record however speaks for itself; gun.

Would be curious to know what injury Trengove was carrying through the second half of the season... -

Thanks for the reports! Just wondering if Kent was walking or running these laps?? -
Height is not the issue for Kennedy - look at the way Caleb Daniel played in last year's finals series. Surely he has put to bed the notion that there is even such a thing as 'too short to play AFL'. Daniel has made every recruiter and list manager in the league look foolish. Kennedy's limitations as a player are entirely about application, intensity, desire and the way he goes about it on match day.

As I always list him in the left back pocket, Jetta is literally the first player picked when I'm putting the team together. He adds stability, grit, consistency and the assurance that nine times out of ten, he beats his man. I understand what people are saying - of course there is competition for his spot and an improved list means that 'no one is guaranteed a game.' In my opinion however, he has as much a chance of being dropped as Nathan Jones is. -

I know preseasons can be misleading, but Gus has really bulked up. Gonna be a very big boy in a couple of years time. -
Decision making is an interesting one when it comes to player development. It's interesting see how much time, energy and effort is now being put into educating the players about our style and gameplan. The way they are drilled about appropriate actions, patterns and choices makes this decision making become a mixture of instinct and muscle memory. It is of course purely hypothetical, but can a player with questionable decision making succeed in an environment that drills the right decisions into the from the moment they enter the system?? It could be argued that's how Hawthorn has made so many average players on their list successful 'roleplayers'.

Looks pretty concerning from that report and footage. Fingers crossed it not too serious. -

Brilliant photos once again - many thanks. They complement the training threads perfectly and offer an additional insight for those of us who can't get along ourselves. FWIW, it's great to see Trengove training with the midfielders. Never seen him as a flanker myself and the romantic in me wants to see him lining up at the center bounce for the Dees again someday. -

This thread is great, if for no other reason that some posters who you thought were bitter and twisted old men, are in fact revealed to be in their 20s - and others, who converse and carry on like children, were old enough to do Vic-Kick with your father. (For the under 30s, VicKick=AusKick)

So it is a knee injury to tyson? What the prognosis?? -
He just looks untouchable when he's moving. His speed is something, but what impresses me is his courage and attack on the ball for someone you'd generally consider an 'outside player'. He's a beauty!

" The 21-year-old is still in Perth, with the club giving him and teammate Dean Kent an extended break with family. " He's gone! (Isn't it nice to not have to say that this year)- 198 replies

While excited I am feeling something else for the first time in over a decade... nervous. For ten years I haven't felt the nerves before matches because, in many respects, I would be expecting us to lose more than we win. Now however the tables and mindset have changed in a big way and I'm expecting us to win more matches than we lose... and the tension is making me nervous!

Gill McLachlan and his wage
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
But are we arguing for the CEO to be paid less, or for the players to be paid more? The OP states that 'over half the clubs are in large debt', do these clubs have ability to pay their players significantly higher wages? The big clubs certainly do. Significantly increase the salary cap and watch even more players walk to Collingwood, Hawthorn, WCE, etc who will easily be able to cover the larger cap. TBH, I don't think 1.7 is an outrageous amount for the CEO of a multi-billion dollar league. Demetriou's final payments stink to high heaven though. -

Thanks for the updates! As a baldy myself, I completely understand Nathan Jones covering up the top of his head- burns very, very easily. (Ps. Hat backwards so you don't poke a teammate in the eye when in close) -
Free agency crop this year was very underwhelming, this year's though looks like a cracker!

Well of course they are, but these advances aren't out of the goodness of car makers hearts, many of these improvements are required under law. I'm not saying we should be hanging Oliver for what he did, he has and will be punished. But I am glad that we have strict road laws in Australia/Victoria. The road safety education in this country is second to none - everyone knows the rules As terrible as it is, I can tell you from my own experience that the only thing that stops me speeding is the fear of a ticket; crashing never crosses my mind. The only thing that stops me driving after a drink or two is the fear of losing my licence; again the thought of an accident never crosses my mind. And while we're on alcohol, America has a blood alcohol limit of .08. They had 35,000 deaths in accidents last year. Every 2 minutes in the US someone is injured by a drunk driver.

I was responding to a post that used seat-belt legislation as an example of the good old days before nanny-stating laws were introduced.

Victorian road toll 1970 - 1061(population 3.4 million) Victorian road toll 2015 - 252 (population 5.8 million) I'm pretty happy with the changes.
