POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was the worst possible commentary team you could have. Dwayne Russell - is incredibly biased towards certain sides and makes up ridiculous sayings thinking he is Dennis Commetti Derm - just rambles constantly and hardly ever makes sense with what he is saying. Healy - is way past it as a commentator -
I was watching the cricket last night and it started just randomly going to earlier in the day's play. So frustrating having to keep exit and go to 'watch live'.

Will be interesting to see if Lever or Rivers get up for this game, or if they will give them another week. I saw Rivers is training with the main group today, albeit with his knee heavily strapped. Would rather they ensure they are both cherry ripe before playing them.
-
I've been told 4 weeks but not confirmed by the club yet.
-
Goody said Lever may be back in round 2, but if not I'd say they will go with: May, Tomlinson, Smith, Hibberd, Bowey, Hunt and Brayshaw/Jordon rotating back there. Amazing to think we still have Petty, Salem, Lever and Rivers to also comeback. That is easily the deepest defence in the comp.

Bevo unleashes on Tom Morris

I see there has now been audio leaked of Tom Morris saying some pretty bad stuff about a colleague...... This whole thing has blown up ridiculously. -
TEAMS: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Looking at the dogs forward options in detail I can see why we went with Smith. May to Naughton. Lever to Schache. Smith to Hannan. The rest are all smalls and resting mids. English will also go down there at times but then we can send Gawn or Jacko down to mind him. Martin will also rest down there but I would probably rather him be having shots at goal given his kicking.... -
I actually didn't mind too much what they said. I think guys like Trac and Oliver are cocky because they know how good they are. Michael Jordan was extremely cocky and knew how good he was, but he also worked extremely hard. That's the difference between being cocky and just drifting along with your talent, to being cocky but also a hard worker. Look at the Cats during their dominant period. James Kelly was pretending to be asleep when singing their song that's how cocky they were.

Membership Tally 2022
DistrACTION Jackson replied to george_on_the_outer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nah it says 49,667 -
I have no concerns with Jacko leaving atm and I'd say he is weighing up whether to go for a 2/3 year deal or the full 5 year deal. His manager would know that his overall pay packet is more than just the salary he receives from the club. If he wins more flags the players get bonuses, plus the exposure of playing in big finals will bring about great marketing opportunities for him. The other benefit is being in the largest footy state in the country, which furthers his profile.

Love her! Hope she stays on for many years.

MOMENTUM: A 2021 Grand Final Story
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The leadership shown by Goody and Gawn at half time is why we won. Just kept the players calm and got them to re-set and go again, when they could have easily crumbled. We have a special, special group of players now. -
Don't really like any other team winning the flag but my thoughts are this: Most likely - Brisbane, because they are the most complete side other than us. Who would I like to see - GWS, because I don't really care if they win or not and it doesn't really affect us in Melbourne.

POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The wrist slashing after a practice game that we lost by 5 points, with next to no intensity shown by the players is quite extraordinary. What makes it even more amazing is we also just won a flag for the first time in 57 years only 5 months ago.....- 411 replies

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Expecting a massive game from Oliver and Petracca. They were both ordinary last night and looked like they were playing bruise free footy. Not surprised given it is a pre-season match and not concerned. What I did like is Gawn got the players together as they were walking off, no doubt to let everyone know that's not good enough. He was the only player that looked like he gave a sheet. -
POSTGAME: Community Series vs Carlton
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We typically have 7 defenders in the side - last years GF was May, Lever, Petty, Rivers, Salem, Bowey and Hibberd. I think round 1 will be May, Lever, Tomlinson, Smith Salem, Bowey and Hibberd. -
Left Perth at 24 and my whole family live there.... I'm allowed these comments 😜

Not sure why he wouldn't.... being from Perth it is a pretty boring place for a bloke in his early 20's. Glad I moved to Melbourne!

Yep. Pretty sure players wear their same number for Casey -
Not really. No one really cares and means nothing to win.

Are we capitalising on our on-field successes?
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Mach5's topic in Melbourne Demons
From my understanding it was discussed that they wanted a social area as part of the home base. Not sure how that will work, but it was definitely mentioned in previous commentary. -
Are we capitalising on our on-field successes?
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Mach5's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought the way we embraced WA and turned them onto our side was done incredibly well. Being from WA and speaking to people back there, they think there are a number of neutrals who don't like the Eagles or Dockers may jump on board the Dees as a result and the enjoyment factor of the GF over there. In regards to signing up members, the tally shows we have approx. 9,000 more members signed up as of the first week of March than last season, which is a 25% increase. If we were to take that 25% increase and add it to the total members for last year (not including the GF members), it would result in a total of 66,485 by the time the memberships close. So I think we are on track to capitalising on the first year after being premiers, but if we want to build a really powerful club and supporter base there are a few things we need to do over the next 5 years: 1. If we can win another 1 or 2 flags and build that dynasty we can start to get more members on board who like being part of a successful club and push the membership numbers up to 70k-80k. 2. We need to get the home base underway ASAP to create a 'one club' culture and enable supporters to go down after a MCG match to have a few beers and chat. It would also then enable great after match functions and speakers, such as past players/current players etc. 3. Continue to build a strong AFLW brand to attract more female supporters who can then convert to also following the men's side. Thinking there should be a joint mens/womens membership for the 'one club' feeling. I don't think we could ask much more after the first flag than over $2m of merch sold and an increase in membership at the moment. It's only been 5 months since we won the flag, so not enough time to assess how well we are capitalising. -
It's funny that he has Papley at 23 and he kicked 43 goals last year, where Pickett kicked 40 and isn't even in the top 50. Not sure how Fritsch doesn't make it either, after kicking 59 goals for the season.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs North Melbourne
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think the jury is out on that one. Tomlinson has shown to be a solid AFL player for many years and has played 160 games, while Joel Smith has so far managed 21. I think May, Lever and Tommo will all be in the round 1 side, given Petty likely won't be available. Joel Smith will be probably competing with Rivers and Hibberd.
