  1. So who's starting the Marley Davey thread?
  2. With all the stuff going on, at least we have money
  3. There was a bit of rumours going around early that we were interested in Daniel Curtin with pick 7, however we made the decision to go with Caleb Windsor. I'd be keen to know, 1. Did we ever consider Curtin at that pick? and 2. If so, what was it in Windsor's game that made us decide to take him ahead of Curtin?
  4. I would think he could train with the other players, given it isn't club sanctioned training.... could be wrong though. But definitely won't be at training next week.
  5. Doubt it. Media would've eaten it up otherwise.
  6. I think if we were genuienly drafting for needs, we probably would've gone for Caddy as key forwards was our main issue last year. Though I'm not too concerned with this, given JVR will be a year older and Petty is expected to play forward, with TMac and Brown both hoping to get back to a better fitness base. Windsor will probably start behind Langdon and Hunter, as would be expected of a young player but long term I think he could end up a very similar player to Isaac Smith. Tholstrup could be anything also and in the mould of a De Goey/Trac/Martin type player, however again he will start behind guys like McAdam, ANB and Sparrow and have to force his way into the side. So the idea we drafted for needs is ridiculous. The issue with the media is they rank the players mainly off statistics, whereas the AFL recruiters would also be looking at how the players fit into the modern AFL side. The way footy is played at AFL level is so different to juniors, with a much greater emphasis on defence and they would be aware that some players who dominate juniors may not easily fit into the AFL system.
  7. Should be an interesting draft night! Sounds like we will go hard at trading up either/both 6 & 11. Wonder if we will get any bites!
  8. He's gone very left field Early mail mock draft 1. Harley Reid (West Coast) 2. Colby McKercher (North Melbourne) 3. Jed Walter (Gold Coast - matching North Melbourne bid) 4. Zane Duursma (North Melbourne) 5. Nick Watson (Hawthorn) 6. Ryley Sanders (Western Bulldogs) 7. Caleb Windsor (Melbourne) 8. James Leake (GWS) 9. Ethan Read (Gold Coast - matching Geelong bid) 10. Daniel Curtin (Geelong) 11. Nate Caddy (Essendon) 12. Connor O’Sullivan (Adelaide) 13. Koltyn Tholstrup (Melbourne) 14. Jake Rogers (Gold Coast - matching Sydney bid) 15. Jordan Croft (Western Bulldogs - matching Sydney bid) 16. Will Green (Sydney) 17. Darcy Wilson (St Kilda) 18. Will McCabe (Hawthorn - matching Adelaide bid) 19. Charlie Edwards (Adelaide) 20. Harry DeMattia (North Melbourne) 21. Tew Jiath (GWS) 22. Taylor Goad (North Melbourne) 23. Wil Dawson (North Melbourne) 24. Will Graham (Gold Coast - matching Collingwood bid) 25. Caiden Cleary (Sydney - matching Collingwood bid) 26. Lance Collard (Collingwood) 27. Angus Hastie (Adelaide) 28. Arie Schoenmaker (St Kilda) 29. Ashton Moir (Carlton)
  9. Amazingly the Pies got a free kick from this when Murphy essentially ran his head into McArthy who pretty much had the ball when it happened. BS free kick that one.
  10. What a shambolic system
  11. I'm sure he would be happy just to have a contract at this point.
  12. So going by this we would end up with Ryley Sanders and Caleb Windsor.... I'd be pretty happy with that personally. Really I will be happy with one of Sanders, Curtin or Watson at our pick.
  13. Ed's only dropped the name of Collingwood 7-8 times..... he's obviously really trying to hold it in.
  14. Curious to know why some phantom drafts have Ryler Sanders slipping to pick 9 or 10! Bloke couldn't have done much more, winning the Larke medal and being a key cog in the Sandy flag. If he is available at our pick I would be really surprised if we don't take him, can never have enough midfield guns in my view.
  15. Just gave away a home Grand Final with a p i $ $ poor performance.... pretty used to that though now as a Dees fan
  16. Surplus to needs unfortunately.
  17. It's quite amazing how much 'filler' time they do with that gettable show. Non-stop talking all year round....
  18. AFL is way more rigged. We don't even have home and away games v every team. Teams never travel to certain locations & instead play them at their home venue (i.e. Collingwood to Geelong). It's beyond a joke.
  19. Let's also remember that Ben Brown is essentially another forward line coach, given his experience. His knowledge will be invaluable for guys like JVR and Petty.
  20. From my understanding we do have the flexibility to take Brown, either with a late pick or a rookie pick depending on what happens on draft night. It would mean we would have one extra on the primary list and one less rookie than last year. Given the amount of cap space we let go this off-season I feel like that is a possibility (believe rookie listed playrs have a certain allocation outside the cap). I feel like we will wait and see what happens and by saying we are only taking 2 picks at the draft, they may hope that puts other teams off making a bid on him and he slides through to the rookie draft.
  21. I would be so surprised if we over-look Curtin if he falls to us. Will trust JT though, he doesn't get too many wrong.
  22. He genuienly looks like a Steven May clone. Same body size. Long kick. Think he's probably a better kick than May. Whether he can defend like May I don't know.
  23. No way North is giving up 2 & 3 for 1 If there was a 4 way trade it could look more like: North give: 3, 15 & 17 / get 1 & future 2nd WCE give: 1 & 23 & future 2nd / get 6, 8 & 11 Melb Give: 6 & 11 / get 3 & 17 Geel give: 8 / get 15 & 23
  24. Sounds like exactly what we need
  25. I think they will just be flexible on draft night. Perhaps part of the trade would also see something come back to Melbourne that hasn't been reported, or we can trade a future pick for a pick this year.
