Farewell Jesse Hogan
Pruess is a speculative pick. played 8 games for 5 goals and is apparently slow even for a big man. hopefully he can come on but we should not be banking on it

I'd prefer to keep our advantage we have up fwd rather than be like other teams

WC won every game this year when Kennedy/Darling played. They lost 6 when they didn't.

Yeah it is a worry but T Mac is pretty hardy aside from the foot issues. We played our best footy with 2 tall fwds and and I love that strcuture and flexibility we had up front. whichever way you slice it, losing Hogan would be a massive loss. from age 24-30 I reckon he will dominate the comp

Very highly rated junior 5th in the rising star in year 1 2nd bnf in year 2. Certainly better than his bro. He would excel in a good team imo

typical the FA starts working for the poor teams when we become good again!

Farewell Jesse Hogan
When did May become a 'big fish'. The media are talking about him like he is Silvani good solid defender.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I don't think he is pivotal to our success, we are just a worse team without him in it. For example, his running/link play, field kicking. Weed/Tmac do not cover this. no doubt our defence needs work but not at the expense of our fwd line. I reckon he would kick 60+ over the next 7-8 years. we need to do everything we can to keep him but if he wants to go, not much we can do

Wait, say that again.

Farewell Dom Tyson
him playing in the 22 is a bit of a giveaway

Farewell Jesse Hogan
didnt work for Rivers, Chip or Garland though. oh god they were dark times in all seriousness I think if O Mac builds up his body over the next 2 years he could make a decent fwd. better skills than Tom

Farewell Jesse Hogan
once you factor in a mortgage, private health insurance, grocery prices, he won't have much left!

Farewell Jesse Hogan
we are fked. Suddenly O Mac is training with the forwards!! :-0

Farewell Jesse Hogan
if he wasn't injured he would have likely kicked 60 goals for the year and I would expect 70+ next year Weid showed very little in his first couple of years and played one great game a couple of decent games. He now shows promise but we cannot bank of him playing 22 games next year, he could be anything or a flash in the pan losing Hogan will have some short term pain for sure.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Anyone else worried about recruiting May? Everyone says he is proven but I don't think you are really proven until you have played for a decent side and have played in pressure situations - big crowds. May has done neither.

Rumour File
Mcgovern nominates Carlton. wow and Shiel might do likewise. you can tell who the money hungry players are
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
I agree, I don't think many want to trade him but it seems he wants to go back to WA so we are dealing with this potential reality
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
you do realise all of our best players have come from the draft? aside from Lever. if we can pick up another Oliver/Gus/Hogan then why not do it. they do not take long to have an impact and will extend our time at the top. our recruiting team have been amazing the last few years.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Given our age profile I actually wouldn't mind not bringing in a star (unless we get a beauty like Kelly) and going to the draft. It is meant to be a great one. most of our golden generation are 21-24. to draft a couple of gun 18 yo's (realistically only one might be a gun) would spread our age profile nicely and set us up for a longer spell at the top. Although it would hurt our immediate term a bit. it would also help our salary cap. save the big money for the gun players, not guys like May

anyone know what Hogan is on now as our highest paid player? I assume ~800K if he signed a long term deal with us it would be ~1mil you would think?
