Farewell Jesse Hogan
we are fked. Suddenly O Mac is training with the forwards!! :-0

Farewell Jesse Hogan
if he wasn't injured he would have likely kicked 60 goals for the year and I would expect 70+ next year Weid showed very little in his first couple of years and played one great game a couple of decent games. He now shows promise but we cannot bank of him playing 22 games next year, he could be anything or a flash in the pan losing Hogan will have some short term pain for sure.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Anyone else worried about recruiting May? Everyone says he is proven but I don't think you are really proven until you have played for a decent side and have played in pressure situations - big crowds. May has done neither.

Rumour File
Mcgovern nominates Carlton. wow and Shiel might do likewise. you can tell who the money hungry players are
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
I agree, I don't think many want to trade him but it seems he wants to go back to WA so we are dealing with this potential reality
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
you do realise all of our best players have come from the draft? aside from Lever. if we can pick up another Oliver/Gus/Hogan then why not do it. they do not take long to have an impact and will extend our time at the top. our recruiting team have been amazing the last few years.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Given our age profile I actually wouldn't mind not bringing in a star (unless we get a beauty like Kelly) and going to the draft. It is meant to be a great one. most of our golden generation are 21-24. to draft a couple of gun 18 yo's (realistically only one might be a gun) would spread our age profile nicely and set us up for a longer spell at the top. Although it would hurt our immediate term a bit. it would also help our salary cap. save the big money for the gun players, not guys like May

Farewell Jesse Hogan
anyone know what Hogan is on now as our highest paid player? I assume ~800K if he signed a long term deal with us it would be ~1mil you would think?

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
I know but I reckon Jeff and the Club might come to an arrangement to free up his spot. His heart is clearly not in it anymore. We will probably keep Maynard I’d say
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
No I want to keep him because he is one of our best players and I believe he will dominate the comp for the next 5 years quality tall fwds are very hard to trade in or draft. it would be massive loss

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
With Kent going we have 8 spots open on our list and its only 3 days since the season ended! if hogan goes thats 9. No word about Maynard, Johnstone, Smith, Garlett yet sounds like we will be very active in the trade/draft!!

Farewell Jesse Hogan
The problem for us is if Hogan wants to leave. we lose a lot of bargaining power. we can say we'll just keep him unless its a good deal but usually players end up going where they want to go. If we want to get rid of him, I will lose a lot of faith in the FD. If T Mac goes down next year we are screwed. Weid is showing promise but is years away from dominating and question marks remain for me. and we have no back up tall fwds

Farewell Jesse Hogan
ooh he must want to stay in Melbourne then? #hoganmyths

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
May at 193cm doesnt really help us with our biggest issue at the back - Ben Brown/Cox types. Against these teams I would bring in Preuss along with Lever and O Mac O Mac is still young and developing and we also have Hibbo, Smith, Frost, Keilty developing etc May would be handy but I would have our priority as good ball users and outside speed. also Run off HB especially if Hunt doesn't come on

Farewell Jesse Hogan
BS - an injured blokes needs to watch every training session? pretty sure players meet with their managers regularly especially towards the end of the season

Farewell Jesse Hogan
The only reason I would entertain any deal for Hogan is if he said he will go to WA when he is a FA. restricted or not, players end up where they like usually and we would be left with nothing for a gun. is it 2021 when he will first be a FA?

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
People suggesting as many as 10 players getting cut or traded need to consider who we are getting in. We have no good draft picks at the moment, not a great position to trade and the best state league players will be given to the bottom teams. So players like JKH will certainly be on the list next year. I imagine T Smith will be as well. If Weed and Hogan both go down for example we need some cover. So 4 kids in the draft, 2 casey upgrades. 2 players traded in (Pruess and Gaff) - yes i still think we are a chance at gaff that is 6 so far.

Josh Kelly
If GWS lose Shiel this year and Kelly next that will be game over for them being a premiership threat in my opinion. they dont bring much talent in aside from draft picks. who wants to play in front of 8K. Bring it on. Kelly will rival Oliver in 2 years for the best player in the comp.

Thanks Cameron Pedersen
will miss yelling PEEEEDDDDDDOOOOOOO! put in some great efforts, especially when Gawn went down last year there will be quite a few list changes this year!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
Gawny played 25 games at 85% gametime with little to no time resting fwd. He simply cannot continue t do this and expect to play for another 5+ years. Welcome Braydon, think I'll call him Pruesssy

Farewell Jesse Hogan
What a ridiculous thread. Hogan is one of key pillars to build on for the future. In the first half of the season he was arguably our best player and certainly in the top 3. Ran all day, averaged over 3 goals a game, played deep mid, a nightmare to match up on. in 2-3 years I think he will be the best fwd in the game kicking 60+ a year when he matures a bit more, learns to use his body better and get into space he loves the club and wants to stay not on the trade table.
-
Andrew Gaff
thanks for the mail but that makes no sense. North are more desperate than us for outside run, all they have are inside mids. No way Gaff plays inside if they trade him in
