  1. gouga, i think delisting 7 is a lot, we wont have 7 picks in the draft. i think delisting 5 or 6 is more likely. of the blokes you want to delist i think we'll keep one of ward or brown as cover for running players. CJ, bartram and petterd are also cover for these positions but i like to think the later two will slot into the 1st 22 when fit. i also think we'll keep holland because we would have only 1 tall defender in reserve (warnock) which is too much of a risk, given frawley is still young and rivers is struggling with injury atm. you are right, wheatly is a smoky because of his age, the fact he has been hampered by injury and because we know he can kick it well... personally i would do the same as you except: keep wheatly, holland and ward/brown, but get rid of jamar and promote neaves. i am still delisting 5 players and promoting a rookie. the other delisting if we think the draft is deep will be the running back. if jamar cant force his way back into the dees this year he is gone.
  2. cheers mate, i liked the book better, but the movie was awesome, still trying to get my gf to sit down and watch it with me...i made it my avatar back in 2003 probably when i first joined on the old board, and ive kept it the same...half because i reckon its a great photo, and half because i reckon if i change it i'll confuse myself, and everyone else here as much as jaded just confused me
  3. haha im pretty embarrassed about that...you're one of the posters i recognise straight away usually lol but since you changed your avatar, and i didnt even look to see who the post was from when i replied... sincerest apologies jaded, no offence was meant...
  4. he better have been worth it jaded...at least the filth are victorian. PA are the scum from SA... **edited due to severe embarrassment**
  5. salary cap punishment anyone? these punishments don't just hurt you in the short term, we were hit so hard that we wont recover until 10 years after the punishments...we are paying for it now, i think if we had 2 extra key players we would be in a great position but as it stands we have 16-18 good players before we start playing kids and players who should be depth. CAC and ND should be congratulated for how well they've done with list management to have gotten us so close without those players over the past few years...
  6. actually thats probably not too bad a stat... going by this graph, CO2 concentrations in Hawaiian air could be responsible for our decline since the 60's unfortunately until we get nuclear power, paint our roofs white and stop driving hydrocarbon powered cars we wont win a premiership...
  7. “Sandringham is great...I had a lot of shots on goal, they let you enjoy your football and to do whatever you want. It was a really fun time.” when you are 190 game afl player with 337 career goals i reckon theyd do that. when you havnt played an afl game and its your third year on the list you wait your turn, and if they put you on the wing, well you play on the wing...
  8. i thought you'd jumped on the 'carbon dioxide is to blame for everything' bandwagon for a moment. next thing we know it will be the rise in carbon dioxide emissions in the 20th century that resulted in the aids virus...
  9. in all honestly can you imagine anyone liking anyone from port adelaide? lol
  10. then you would find that carbon dioxide emissions have nothing to do with the depletion of ozone.
  11. very true, otherwise we could blame the decline in the number of pirates for global warming and if you dont believe me, read a bit of this link...(especially the part under the heading 'pirates and global warming') http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_spaghetti_monster
  12. conngrats brock, lets hope its a big one! (and that there is 250 more )
  13. interesting to note our terrible accuracy for goal during these quarters also. can you break it up so we can see 2nd quarters and third quarters seperately? which have been worse? id say the second...
  14. we all know that cloke is going no where fast as an afl footballer. we have a players who are capable of preforming the same back up roles cloke would play already on the list. these players are part of the team already. i'd rather keep the team together and have an extra draft pick than swap like for like or picking up an extra dud.
  15. in all honesty, i think the umpires should go back to having no numbers, their names not mentioned anywhere. by giving the umpires personality the afl has made them individuals, while the umpires should actually be just one entity. what happens to players with personalities? we love to hate em. we dont need any other reason to hate umpires so why single them out?
  16. cant do as bad a job as mclaren. i swear that man umpires as if he has never watched a game of footy in his life and is trying to interpert the rules as he goes. he doesnt have any feeling for the game at all. for an umpire who is supposed to be experienced he really comes across as someone who wants to be in the spotlight, who loves controling things and who doesnt quite understand the jist of the rules. he might know them well enough but he doesnt have that feeling for them to know when to apply them.
  17. the best prevention for soft tissue injuries has to be core strength and stability. it would surprise me very much is colin sylvia and beamer werent doing a heavy course of pilate's as part of their training.
  18. i like the ladders on allthestats.com where you can get it to rank the teams on games won by other stats. ie if you chose tackles, we had more tackles than nth so we get the 4 points for that game. and so on. you can choose a range of stats.
  19. jaded i think you are over simplifying the issue if you say that the coach should be able to control all of these issues. yes i know thats why we have a coach but if the coach could solve these problems every time without a second thought we would never lose a game. the teams in the afl are so close these days that it is all about the sort of factors you mentioned as to which teams finish up and which down. injuries are a massive factor in deciding this. but no coach knows how to control the other factors you mentioned. they do their best to encourage and to motivate, to teach to instill and to scare. they try all their tricks to get a team to respond. atm the players arent responding to ND. in the last quarter they did, and that was the best they have responded all year. hopefully now they are tuned in to the coach, or vice versa, hopefully now he is tuned in to them...
  20. if i could see anything this year, it would be for newton to get an extended run for the dees. i think if he was to come in and play good footy in the forward line and kick goals it would be the most exciting thing any melbourne supporter has seen for a long time...
  21. i agree, but i cant help but think that it must be a direct instruction from the coaches, otherwise they would be telling him to kick. a question for those who have seen him play at sandy, does he play a similar role to what he plays for the dees?
  22. i think this is a ridiculous thread. most of our injuries have been collision based injuries. hamstrings are caused because in our game we kick and bend over while running at speed. the hammy might occur at a different moment but the stresses placed on the body are un reasonable.
  23. has he stopped running into people? or has his body just got that bit harder? i've loved watching bell with the ball this year, he has been a revelation...
  24. yeah as much as i like judd i think he should of gone. i dont think he deliberately eye gouged the player. but there is no doubt his actions were reckless at best, and considering that ben holland got a reprimand after first being head butted shows that the tribunal is a joke.
