  1. for mine its PJ or Bell. you can make a case for either...
  2. so we finally get our best players back from injury and start playing well enough to knock off sides that are challanging for the top 4 and you this this as further proof that we need to sack the coach? doesnt the fact that we are actually a much better side that we have been showing (once we've got our players back) show you that the coach has been doing everything he could with the cattle he had available?
  3. I think that the 50 against McLean was unwarrented. He clearly was not to know that it was paid as deliberate, he obviously thought it was out of bounds. Poor decision in my book.
  4. bizz did well today. i thought a couple of his kicks didnt hit targets but im not complaining, however im still unsure if there is a spot for him and rivers in the same team. if they do play in the same team i think frawley will have to miss out and personally id rather see frawley getting a go.
  5. i just cant believe what a bunch of ignorant scum they are. a push in the back is a push in the back is a push in the back. the rule now is black and white (no pun intended). hands cannot go on the opposition players back. it is a terrible rule and i dont agree with it. but how stupid is rocca? the only one they missed all day was the one that should have been against robbo. thats 1 goal. they kicked 3 from free kicks. im not sure why they are whinging about the deliberate decisions. the first one was kicked along the boundary with no filth players in site, the aim was to kick it out of bounds. and the second went straight at the boundary even more deliberate. i couldnt believe the one they paid against holland/brock tho because he ran to it and only missed it by half a metre. and that 50 m penalty was a joke. i hate them more than ever after listening to them carry on all day and after hearing about joffas banner. what a waste of money d#$head
  6. with all due respect to soccer, and soccer fans in general, that board reminds me of the collingwood boards...
  7. dsont forget he was on roids for his CFS...
  8. i dont think its a massive problem but honestly, if their are two games in one week, why not just reverse those games so that all teams are playing sides with equal break? ie split round week 1 a v b c v d split round week 2 e v f all other teams etc next round a v d c v b all other teams that way there is no problems at all...is it that hard to work out a fixture that is fair?
  9. agree entirely, he needs to do it more than once for me... for those who saw him play on monday, what position did he play? did he play the same role he plays for mfc, leading out from CHF and marking 60 out? did he handball much or choose to kick it? or did he play closer to goal where he could use his strengthto mark and when he led he was close enough to kick goals. we all know miller cant kick long. i think he is a much better player when deep inside 50 as he can use his skills to kick goals instead of give off handballs...
  10. FB Wheelan ... brown HB CJ Holland Warnock C ... ... ... HF Pickett Newton Dunn F Miller ... ... R ... ... ... Apart from newton they have all player a few games for the dees this year...add neaves, buckly and garland to that mix and it looks like a melbourne side...the back line looks like it will be pretty good... can you bet on sandy games?
  11. thanks mate first credit ive had on this thread lol i agree about our ruckls but the way i see it is we dont have much choice atm. we try and trade for a ruck to join white and PJ, we promote neaves and hope he makes it, or we draft a ruck (either a ready made with an early pick, or an outside chance rookie). perhaps we scour the state leagues for a ready made ruckman and convince him to nominate... but it is interesting to read articles like the one the other day that said hit outs dont correspond to wins. it is definetly about how good your midfield is, especially if your ruck can at least make a contest. PJ is making a decent contest this year, and i hope he improves. you make good points about our key forwards. we could really go either way with that. newton, bate, dunn, robbo, miller could all play tall forwards or we could be left with robbo and dunn occasionally. atm i think newton will work out but it will take time. drafting a genuine tall strong forward (in the reiwolt or pavlich mould) would solve all our problems for 10 years if you had to draft tomoz would you favour rucks, tall forwards, or midfielders more? or try and get one of each? i think my first pick would be the strong CHF if we could get one as good as the above mentioned. then i think it would be ruck (if the ruck was good enough to make an immediate impact) otherwise midfield. i think id try and trade for ruck or rookie another. fwiw if we trade for judd we lose our best chance at securing one of these types of players. those who say yes trade judd for picks and a player, are you suggesting that a midfielder is more important to us right now than any of these other positions?
  12. making a banner that he wont get to put up tomoz. you can bet we'll be over on the collingwood forums when we have a win
  13. sorry i think ive maybe used the wrong words here. im not saying we have superstars in waiting ready to step up in these other positions but there are payers from whom these positions are their first. in the midfield, you can name this group of players, but mclean, moloney, pettered, jones, johnstone, godfrey, mcdonald and pickett are the midfielders in that list. sylvia, bate, dunn and davey are forwards. yes i know bate has played a lot of his footy on the ball, but he wont be a full time mid. and yes i know sylvia could be a full time mid, but i'd like to see him get over his op first... bartram, bell, CJ, wheatley and frawley are defenders, not mids. yes they could run around, but that doesnt seem to be their natural position. i just thought it interesting that apart from godfrey we dont have any true midfielders not in our best 22 (with the exception of players who havnt played ie buckley). do adelaide have this problem?
  14. yes bruce, green etc arent named in the centre but they normally rotate through the centre. take a couple of players out and we lose that rotation. playing bartram in the centre is robbing peter to pay paul. we dont really have any other mids who arent in our starting team.
  15. given our team for this week: B: Daniel Ward, Nathan Carroll, Cameron Bruce HB: Paul Wheatley, Clint Bizzell, Daniel Bell C: Travis Johnstone, James McDonald, Aaron Davey HF: Brad Green, Russell Robertson, Simon Godfrey F: Colin Sylvia, David Neitz, Matthew Bate Foll: Jeff White, Brock McLean, Nathan Jones I/C: Paul Johnson, Ricky Petterd, James Frawley, Adem Yze Emg: Simon Buckley, Nathan Brown, Ben Holland and polayers missing from the best 22 (wheelan, moloney, rivers, pickett, bartram), it looks like we are lacking midfield depth. i mean we have warnock, ferguson and holland as back up tall defenders, and rivers out injured. we have miller, dunn, newton in development and holland as possible tall forward targets. brown, ward and CJ can play half bck flank. CJ or wheeatly or green can be pushed onto a wing. jamar and the developing neaves are in the ruck department. but if we had our best 22 on the park we have perhaps godfrey as the only depth midfield without including untried players like buckley. could this be our biggest problem in terms of list development we're facing? any ideas?
  16. good call on wheatley. one swallow doesnt make a summer. but i think if he is in form and played in the right position he can be very valuable. i think this goes to show that our top say 24 are pretty good. we may lack a player of absolute star quality but overall our top list is good. its our depth that really struggles. ward, brown, godfrey, holland, ferguson, jamar, warnock, and then the developing: CJ, miller and dunn, arent quite up to it yet. although i think thats a bit harsh on dunn. actually whats interesting about that list. apart from godfrey we bearly have a depth midfielder so we? we have spare tall defenders, tall forwards, running back flankers, a winger or two, and a ruck but no spare midfielders. any ideas? actually i think this might even deserve a thread of its own, because it is off topic...
  17. definitly NOT a money thing. we make more at the g than at the dome. it is the afl screwing us because they can. i cant see why we cant get all our home games at the mcg. its not hard. their fixturing job isnt as hard as they make it seem. they always screw us somewhere...interstate games, home games at the dome (or optus oval), mothers day games etc
  18. no woz with biz for frawley (when compared to my best 22). frawley is yet unprovven but im not sure if bizz will be around next year and frawley does have the height advantage...these two plus holland might be the toss up for the 3rd tall spot horses for courses style, but i cant help but think bizz and rivers are competing for the same spot atm... clint you listed the same 5 players that i did as being out of the best 22. that means we need to drop 5 players from the current 22 to get them in. which 5 are gone for you? ward, frawley? godfrey or yze? and we need another. when i did the best 22 scenario i found we had 1 extra midfielder meaning moloney or jones missed out. jmac is on his way out, and chances are we will always have an injury or two so this scenario will be covered, but im just wondering what you have...
  19. rivers, wheelen, moloney, pickett and bartram are in our best 23 or 24. ward, bizzel, godfrey and yze are the players playing for melbourne this week who would struggle to get a game if the above 5 were also available. (i have left frawley in for now but if his form tapers off either holland or bizzel could be the replacement, depedning on the opposition. its interesting because imo bizzel for rivers is a straight swap, ward for wheelan is a straight swap, leaving 5 to fight it our for 2 places. do you agree with my assessment of the best 22? of godfrey, yze, moloney, pickett and bartram, which 2 would you pick for the last two spots?
  20. miller playing in defence wont help him get back into the dees side. frawley has first dibs on that position, and rightfully so. holland is the clear choice for the gorillas, and i dont think miller would play them that well anyway...
  21. fantastic to hear your enthusiasm lampshade, there are a few people around here who could learn from you we have had a terrible year thus far, but dont despair we will bounce back soon (and if we dont make a late run for the finals this year you can bet we'll get their next year). have you been getting to home games? if so well done. how are the rules treating you? i guess you arent having as much trouble with some of the new 'interpretations' as us because you never knew the old ones! have you been following the forum at all? we'd love to hear your thoughts on our game as a foreigner.
  22. good point. but it will be interesting to see how they actually line up and play together. a lot of the talk on demonland has suggested miller and dunn cant both play in the same forward line, particularly when neita is at full forward. swap neita for sauntner and add newton to the mix (perhaps the equivalent of having a robbo in there...) fwiw it will be interesting to see how mark williams utilises miller. given that we know that sandy play to win, not to develop mfc players, and newton, sautner and dunn are the in form forwards you would think miller would be second choice...
  23. goes to show how good our forum is. the richmond one is a pain to read and i reckon dockerland can be hard to work out what is posts and what is not as well..
