is an interesting stat isn't it?He is the 12th most games played for the club, but of that 12 only 2 debuted pre 1986 (flower and Dixon). He is 3rd in goals, similar in goals and games to one of the greats, G Lyon, but most of us would say Lyon was restricted by injury. Of the top 9 goal kickers, I'd suggest he was the only full time career forward (apart from fanning who kicked 400 in 100 games, and norm Smith) who didn't move around the park. He battled strongly as a key forward in the 90s when he should have been the third tall which possibly restricted hos output at times. I think the biggest problem is he is remembered for not chasing, for not keeping his feet and not doing the team things at times, particularly towards the end of his career, rather than kicking goals. In Robbos case he was a great player but to be recognised as a champion of the club, he need to do those things as well to be a true champion of the club. edit: spelling

unfortunately in the year we are having that doesn't equal high volume goal kicker. Realistically you would expect plays like Clark, Dawes and Hogan To kick more goals than him with the sane amount of games. Howe should then be the icing on the cake, able to play high half forward, drift forward and take third or forth defender (normally shorter players) and kick bonus goals. At the moment playing as number one forward he is struggling (as robbo food when playing that role). What I was hoping from Howe is that he'd win more of his own ball when floating around the ground; he shows that ability last year but unfortunately it hasn't kicked on. If it doesn't develop, his opportunities will be limited heading forward.

Given our dearth of senior players, role models and leaders, I'd be happy for Aaron to stay on the list next year in that capacity of he shows that leadership and mentorship off field. It will be good to maintain some level of "Melbourne" in or mentor players rather than bringing in recycled players just for that purpose. (Although maybe given our cultural history There is a benefit in bringing recycled players in).

If Clisby gets more weeks than C. Brown then...

Clisbys was severe, and Brown's was only medium??? -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
deanox replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
My understanding is intent to take a banned substance is punishable under the code ie the vfl player who got banned without taking the drugs. In that case is a signed consent form naming named substances enough to establish intent? -

Redleg nailed it in one. Perfect opportunity to fight a charge with justification. -
Thanks KC much appreciated. Also great to see the scorps show some strength and fight back. Very important quality come finals time.
-
Hoping for big games from Blease, Gawn, Magner and Toumpas to put some pressure on for spots. Also, really hoping the Scorps can nail this one without a couple of key players (Hogan and Spencer et al) to set up a big finals campaign.

Howe might have been handy- the route of our forward entries may have aired his aerial abilities.

I'm pretty happy, I mean we lost, but we were better than then across the ground most of the day except for kicking for goal. Our effort was good. We kept trying and came back from deficits. It was a massive improvement on the last two weeks, was against a good side and was interstate. If we played like that every week at the moment id be happy.

If we want to turn the list over we have for choices - bring in kids, being in vfl players, bring in reject players or bring on afl standard players. The first 3 pl options will result in is getting belted but are cheap, the last option means we must pay overs but could be competitive. I'd rather pay overs.

4 to go. We are a chance, if I had an account if get on us with their injuries.!
-
Abletts limp now officially the second best played in the AFL.
-
Are we a chance of running over them with their injuries? I suppose we need to kick straight first...
-
What a rubbish free kick.
-
Terlichs errors balance out his endeavour. Hopefully he can improve his disposal off season.
-
Goals not behinds!
-
We need to come out of the blocks in the last quarter. Hit the front and hold them off, rather than try to play catch up. We need the first 2 or 3 quickly.
-
That was my 2nd favourite quarter of the year. Year they got a run on, but I can't remember is regaining composite like that at any other stage. We changed or structure and style, stopped pushing so hard and started holding the ball. Released players for the switch. We actually played smart football. And if we have kicked straight at the end we'd be in front*. *the same goes for them in the first half of the quarter.

Jack Watts proves he is our best player by doing what no one else in our team could do! Goal of the year!
-
I agree, I have them both on here. Intensity is worlds apart
-
Terlich has been caught a lot tonight.
-
What a terrible game!
-
Is it opening up because Jones is off? We have dropped off substantially around the contested ball and clearances. I'd like to see us go defensive and hold onto the ball as long as we can, chains of uncontested possessions, to get our composure back.

add to that: "Clever holding by Bock" Just to prove he is a [censored].
