If GWS accept 50 for Bugg (fat chance) we've done alright, but there's no chance of pick 3 now without an extra second rounder for Howe. The pick 50 in this trade should've been at least 32. I also equate Toumpas and Kennedy as a reasonably logical trade, so 29 and 50 as the return for Howe is mind-numbingly poor .

There should be a provision strictly forbidding clubs with Academy or Father/Son commitments from completing trades where only picks are exchanged. Trading picks for players is fine, but giving up a top 10 pick for multiple second rounders to bid on Academy players is clearly manipulating the system. It opens a can of worms that would allow Academy teams to collude behind the scenes and draft tamper. For example, Sheedy's relationship between Essendon and GWS could play a part in this. Is there a provision which stops Academy clubs from trading out all their first and second rounders for established players, then hoard a bunch of third rounders to use for Academy bidding? It's the equivalent of paying for a car with a jar of 5c coins.

Kennedy & two second rounders for Toumpas & Howe is a good outcome. It gives us room to move on Bugg and create another deal for Gold Coast's pick 3. If we could trade our second rounders for GWS pick 8 (big if, as every other club will be doing the same) we could then trade 6 + 8 for 3 + 19 + 43. That leaves us 3 & 19 for the draft (Parish + best available), 43 for Bugg and 46 for Rosa. Upgrade VDB + Harmes with 100 + 118 and rookie Lovett.

Pretty sure Howe, as a potential key position player, is a first rounder. Especially when Redden is a straight swap for one, and North gave up their first rounder for Anderson (with an exchange of later picks).
