He knows he'll have a media career lined up as soon as he finishes; I can see why he's not all that concerned. Still, that's... unbelievably cheap for a player of his ilk. Even Selwood is on $800k.

Our second and fourth rounders for Melksham and their third rounder? Who knows. If it was as simple as a straight swap it's interesting it didn't happen today, so there may be a sticking point. They may be offering to bundle their 4th rounder but we want their 3rd. Either way, it is Essendon and they notoriously bend over clubs at the table AND overvalue their own list. Melksham and Bugg would be a good return for pick 25, certainly moreso than Melk alone. A bit like turning pick 23 into Frost/ANB/OMac last year. Gotta extract maximum value for what precious currency we have.

Curious how we're going to also get Bugg and Kennedy without getting Essendon's third rounder back. I'd think Collingwood will want something in the 20s for the latter, Bugg something in the 30's.

Fingers crossed. Or, as mooted earlier, we're trading in a later second rounder somehow.

Have been saying all along the Bombers mysterious bottom 4 finish was clearly manufactured. How convenient they ended up down there after years of draft sanctions, with a coach who clearly sat in the coaches box doing nothing strategic whatsoever during games to win them.

If we actually go for the pick 6 > 3 upgrade, we obviously rate Parish a lot higher than most think. Could the difference in talent between 3 picks really be that significant in the one draft? The alternative is Howe could probably get us pick 19 from the Suns (if we hold our ground) which could probably get us Rioli or Gresham. Interesting times!

GC would have to throw in their third rounder in this instance, either for us to trade for Bugg or Melksham. Howe isn't worth a 3 pick upgrade in the first round (although it seems the club really want Parish from what I've heard).
