  1. As if we would've gotten more than a packet of chips for him even if we hadn't delisted him. Good luck Fitzy.
  2. Remember when Dangerfield AND Kennedy were going to join the club, and Roos would apparently end up looking like the biggest genius in the history of the AFL? Those were the days.
  3. Probably too many assumptions there; where does Collingwood's currency for Aish come from? All they've got left now are second rounders, present and future, to secure Howe and Aish. Clubs will be falling over themselves to get pick 8 off GWS now; we seem more intent on sitting back in the trade room and waiting for things to happen rather than creating wild and exciting scenarios like your one above.
  4. It's all over Twitter, apparently clubs are now falling over themselves to trade second rounders to GWS. With our second rounder gone, all we've currently got left to trade is pick 6 and pick 45. Meanwhile, if Dodoro plays his cards right, he can turf out Carlisle, Melksham and their second rounder and end up with picks 4, 8, 15 & 18 in the draft.
  5. I'm so glad our ridiculously generous pick for Melksham has probably landed Essendon pick 8... and we didn't even get them to throw in a bag of chips. We're the club that just keeps on giving.
  6. Why would the Pies do that if they could trade those picks to GWS themselves? Obviously more convoluted with Treloar involved, but they could just as easily offer pick 7 + 2 second rounders + next year's first rounder for Treloar + pick 8. The high value of picks no longer has any meaning to Academy clubs because they only need to accumulate points, NOT high picks. If the AFL had thought this through, they'd have banned Academy clubs from trading out their first round picks to prevent such manipulation of the bidding system, but... we're talking about the AFL here. These clubs now have more currency with a hoard of second rather than first rounders.
  7. Also applies zero defensive pressure and crashes into teammates in marks, leaving the ball free to spill out the back for defenders. He's clueless.
  8. If that's true, someone seriously ballsed up the points value of picks in the 20's. In no conceivable way should two mid-20's picks have greater value than pick 8. No sane club would give up pick 8 for such picks, but thanks to the laughably convoluted bidding system (all to protect the Academies) it's now freely left open for rorting. But don't worry folks, the AFL are so nice to our Academy buddies, they even get them 25% discount on points owed for their players. Isn't equalisation just wonderful?!
  9. What's in it for GWS though? Either way, your point is well made. No AFL rule change goes by without the smarter teams almost immediately working out how to manipulate the system.
  10. Just like Geelong rescuing Blease from our terrible development. Where's he at now?
  11. We do need to keep improving; when Roos says the difference in wins and losses is usually determined by which team has the worst 10 players, he's not wrong. Thus as long as we're bringing in players that are improvements on the ones we're losing, it's hard to argue. BUT.... the competition itself has reached a point where the lowly teams simply cannot, in an 18 team competition, rebuild lists and become competitive with the rate that superior teams can freely top up with free agency now. It's a farce.
  12. To be honest, Kennedy and 26 is a decent return for Howe. Take 6 to the draft. Get Kennedy from Howe. Melksham from 25. Trade 26 for two third rounders. Trade the third rounders for Bugg and Rosa. Upgrade Vandenberg and Harmes with our last live picks. Lovett as a rookie. Get a DFA for free (if we like any). Obviously it isn't the draft we'd all love but it's still improving the list.
  13. Exactly, it's a rubbish argument. Pick 25 as it stands now will be pick 25 in a month's time.
  14. Is it POSSIBLE they made a handshake agreement not to take Parish with pick 4 in exchange for us paying overs here?
  15. Howe and 4th rounder for Kennedy and 2nd rounder (Seedsman). Get it done Melbourne.
  16. LOL Hawks give up 18 for Carlisle. Eagles give up 17 for Redden. We give up 25 for... Melksham.
  17. Losing Kennedy and Seedsman to gain Howe is probably a reasonably good return for Collingwood. Two fringe players they're happy to push out the door. It won't be enough for Gold Coast to give up 3 for 6 though, unless we have a swap of later picks perhaps (our 2nd rounder for their 3rd or 4th? Something similar to the Tyson deal?)
  18. Starting to wonder if we'll draft more than our first rounder to be honest. We'll surely upgrade VDC and Harmes with our last two picks. The rest of our picks could just as easily go to Kennedy, Melksham, Bugg and Rosa.
  19. Agree. I'd rather the club didn't do anything stupid like a Tom Boyd deal. They're building the list for sustained success.
  20. A spoonful of drano? Sure, it'll clean you out, but it'll leave you hollow inside.
  21. ...I think we've shown it isn't like picking apples off a tree. How's securing Prestia going? Dangerfield? Kennedy? Sloane? Parker? Lynch? No A-graders are interested in being traded to us right now. We have to build our core from the draft and do it the hard way first.
