  1. Just announced. Phew. Never in doubt That was agonizing. @AFL_PKeane "AFL has advised melb FC that due to Hawthorn contract amount offer and players age, club is eligible for round 1 compensation pick."
  2. LOL They've demanded Hartlett from Port for Ryder. This club is run by dillusional idiots. No player, NONE, is going to leave Port for your mob.
  3. http://m.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/shaun-higginss-exit-could-pave-the-way-for-the-western-bulldogs-to-draft-a-top-talent/story-fngeflq8-1227011289377 Rather prophetic article from two months ago that correctly guessed Higgins compensation.
  4. The others were announced around 5.40pm I think on Friday.
  5. I'm thinking they just offered him the fattest paycheck. Can't begrudge a guy from leaving the grand finalists for wooden spooners though, but surely there isn't much upside to go to the Saints right now. Once Roo retires they're buggered.
  6. The very precise time of "this afternoon" or tomorrow morning.
  7. Has requested a trade to St Kilda so I can only assume we were never interested.
  8. I just walked past a scrunched up piece of rubbish and, I might be hallucinating, but I swear it told me that Patty is coming to us. You heard it here first.
  9. If you run into him at the Barkly on a Saturday you'll find out pretty fast
  10. Don't find a Howe trade surprising in the slightest. Has everyone forgotten the spray Roos gave him and Watts? He's less than in love with these two.He was very good in defense in some games, but very quiet in others. Didn't have an interrupted preseason so no real excuse for a form slump given his fitness.
  11. Clark chose Geelong despite Colonwood throwing everything at him.
  12. Losing Maxwell, Beams, McCaffer and Heretier for next year is going to hurt. Next year could be Swan's last. Wouldn't go near that joint right now.
  13. It was never in doubt, they weren't bluffing. Sydney could have called our bluff by letting us use pick 2 on him, but obviously the Swans rate him as a top 2 midfielder in this draft. Either way, they're getting one of the best players in the draft with pick 17. Absolute joke that they get him after playing in the grand final. Just more ridiculous inequality from the AFL to protect their precious interstate teams.
  14. Give Geelong Clark and our second rounder for their first rounder and second rounder?
  15. What's the point if we're losing our best midfielder to accomodate another? N. Jones ain't leaving. If he does, I leave AFL.
  16. The article on the official website says we're expected to get pick 3. They've been buttering up fans for weeks now that we'd get it to prevent any outrage. People are now fairly used to the idea. PJ and Roos have played it perfectly.
  17. This. An absolute joke. Quite the bold statement from us though to bid pick 2. Would've made Eddie proud.
  18. The hold up for us will be F/S bidding and Frawley compo, which we'll know by COB tomorrow. I'd say Tuesday will be our big day. Roos just wants to get it over and done with, he's jetting off to Hawaii!
  19. ... and Scully... and Wines...
  20. Yep, and he was rumored to be the "other kid" we were going to take with pick 2, had the better trade not come up with Tyson/Salem.I'm pretty sure Roos would pass up Brayshaw if he could get us 4 quality players by doing the same type of trade twice with both picks 2 and 3. Unfortunately Dom Tysons don't grow on trees.
  21. I think it's time we all just moved on from this sorry saga. It's doing us no favors as supporters to stew on this, as gut wrenching a betrayal as it seems. Fair to say the players are equally as frustrated and it could spur on the team to show him and Frawley what they've walked away from. I'll certainly be celebrating every time Geelong lose but we should focus our energy on something positive. After showing himself for the kind of opportunistic, money driven lowlife he is, I wouldn't take him back on our list anyway. Brisbane fans always spoke about how much of a [censored] he is in real life, so as far as I'm concerned it's Geelong's loss and our gain.
  22. Would be one hell of a misdirection given Roos got both Brayshaw and Stretch to train with us earlier this year, and has been sighted at team huddles mentoring Brayshaw throughout the year.
  23. Yes, which gives credence to the theory that we're negotiating a trade and telling Malceski not to exercise free agency. It would be a very Paul Roos win win trade. We get a premiership player, Malceski gets reunited with his old coach on more money, Sydney get a second rounder rather than band 4 or 5 compo (potentially pick 40/58), if any compensation at all.Gold Coast don't have a coach, and if Bomber resigns with Essendon they've pulled a Brisbane/Paul Roos. Hard to lure players without a coach in place.
  24. We can trade for him, but my theory is the reason no deals have been done is because we'd offer Sydney our second rounder in a trade. After seeing Waite give Carlton no compensation whatsoever, it's possible the same would happen to Sydney. What's holding things up? We don't know if we have to use our second rounder for Stretch yet. So once we know where we stand on that, we can go to Sydney and offer a trade. This scenario can also play out if Bulldogs give us pick 6 and 26 for pick 3, but I think the club wants two first rounders in that trade. Just my theory.
