  1. Nope, I heard yesterday that we asked for their first pick and they knocked it back. They offered is their second rounder and we don't feel it's enough. Second and third makes sense for the players we want.Colonwood aren't getting our second rounder for a player they don't even want.
  2. I think we've asked for Geelong's second and third rounders, to use on Lamumba and Frost.
  3. I don't think you become a delisted free agent if you refuse to resign a contract with your current club. I could be wrong but I'd assume if you don't activate your right to free agency then you actually go into the PSD.
  4. They'll be seriously re-thinking trading off pick 1 if they were secretly hoping to get McCartin, Jansck and O'Rourke in exchange for giving up pick 1. If we do trade off pick 3 to the Bulldogs, they'll be at the mercy of whoever they choose at pick 3. I don't know enough about McCartin/Wright to determine who might be better, but the former is compared to Jesse Hogan by Sheehan in this:
  5. Agreed, no chance the club would be that stupid unless they get something back.
  6. Yep, the smokescreen theory seems more likely at this stage. And wouldn't surprise me if the pick 3 compo was indeed set in stone months ago, regardless of Frawley's contract.
  7. Don't worry, he made amends by letting Bont win the Bulldogs game with his pathetic "spoiling" attempts.
  8. I'm inclined to think Roos isn't dumb enough to spend all year talking to Danger in the hope he'll come over, at the expense of another 20 or so valuable mids he could more easily convince to join us. Just need a few more days to see what happens.
  9. Well if all parties were waiting on the Frawley compo to proceed with any potential trades for Danger... now would be an opportune time to proceed with said trade.
  10. Great result just seeing another quality player leave the Swans. Won't be the last of the Buddy contract casualties.
  11. Haha, I read that while watching the idiotic out of bounds on the full kick by Frawley, 30 seconds remaining in the Adelaide match, inside Adelaide's forward half. Wanted to see us improve as a team apparently, should've looked at himself in the mirror. Almost cost us that game.
  12. I reckon we would've baulked at that price tag. Dodgy knees, already 30... quality player but that's a huge risk. Not as dumb as the Higgins 400k/4 years deal though.
  13. Love how we've gone from "he's an All Australian!" "He's our best defender!" "He's one of our best players, we deserve band 1 compo" to "thank Christ this spud is gone."
  14. Well Roos might want more senior players but we're at the mercy of clubs willingly trading us good mids and good mids wanting to come here. Both are unlikely scenarios.
  15. Tactically we're in an excellent position right now. Saints would've been planning to switch picks with GWS so they could pass up Petracca but still get McCartin. That's no longer possible. If they want a KPP they must now take whatever is left out of McCartin/Wright. What we do depends on what they do, I'd say. If they trade to GWS and we lose Petracca, we'll get rid of pick 3 to the highest bidder and take our second midfielder further up the draft ala Salem. If Saints are desperate for McCartin (as a GWS trade would indicate), they might just re-think trading away pick 1 now.
  16. Probably wasn't much point going after him once Lamumba came up. Same role essentially. Plus Frost, Lamumba and potentially Merrett was really enough bolstering for the backline. The focus needs to go on mids now.
  17. I feel so, so bad for any kids in this year's draft that are at risk of going to Essendon. Just imagine how mortified their parents will be on draft night seeing their son shake Hird's hand as they're handed the guernsey. The stuff of nightmares.
  18. Hopefully Saints get cold feet trading off pick 1 and keep it for McCartin. Then we trade pick 2 to GWS for Shiel; they get Petracca and we get Brayshaw.
  19. I think Roos would still take two mids. In that scenario I can see him still trading down for the Bulldogs 6th pick, because any mids we take at 3 (assuming Petracca and Brayshaw are gone 1 and 2) will probably be there around pick 6. Wright and McCartin will go before any mids. So we could take Bulldogs 6th and 26th in that scenario, and we end up one pick ahead. I know we want two first rounders though, so can't see that deal happening.
  20. Interesting. Also possibly a ploy. Got no doubt Saints are still choosing between McCartin and Petracca, but are saying Petracca to drive up what GWS will give them for pick 1. They want Petracca bad. We're doing the same to Bulldogs by indicating we'll take Brayshaw AND McCartin because you were too stubborn to trade with us. Wright will then be gone by pick 6, either by GWS, Collingwood or Brisbane. They'll break. Another year without a KPF and they're screwed.
  21. Once you trade a compensation pick you can't bring in a free agent.
  22. And the Bulldogs' recruiters sphincters just tightened somewhat...
  23. WOO [censored] HOO Highway robbery hahahhahaha
