  1. Please let them be too late for Bomber. If the rumours are true and the AFL are pulling strings up on the GC with the coaching situation, they'll fund Thompson's appointment up there and make it worth his while to go. Bassett to Adelaide, Goodwin to Melbourne, Bomber to the Gold Coast and Hird sacked and labelled a drug cheat. What a glorious off season for these scumbags.
  2. HAHAHAHA, Winderlich pulls a Clark. This is HILARIOUS! Oh, so, so glorious. Finally another team can experience what we've endured.
  3. Excellent. Clearly the game plan wasn't working and needs a shake up. This has PJ and PR written all over it. Another step in the right direction.
  4. Not when you're a self obsessed narcissist prepared to burn and betray people that go out of their way to look after you.
  5. Have a real spring in my step with this news. This club is going down, down, down like a bad Coles commercial.
  6. Blease for Merrett?
  7. As if his position wasn't untenable already. He's cooked. Now to see Bomber go to the GC and that leaves Essendon well and truly in the [censored].
  8. Shocking. What an absolute blindside that is.
  9. The president of the Saints was just on SEN and was asked about pick 3 for Frawley. Keeping in mind this guy was supposedly the architect of free agency compensation when he was in charge of the AFLPA. And of course it was just absolute drivel questioning why we would get pick 3 for a player like Frawley, again bringing up that Buddy went for pick 19, so how on earth do we get pick 3? Seriously, are these people completely brain dead? It's a formula, end of discussion. It's going to be a long contract, he's at the age entering his prime, and he's looking at 600k. That's pick 3 in the formula. Absolutely staggering that the architect of free agency, and the man running the club who lost Goddard and received a first band compo for losing Goddard less than 2 years ago, would come out with this tripe now? This entire campaign against us is sickening and pathetic hypocrisy at its finest. He then goes on to applaud the AFL for their $10m grant to relocate their training base. Amazing how it's fine for the AFL to look out for your backyard but not for others. Apparently if we get pick 3 it's "inconsistent with the formula set up". Um, no, the formula is clear as day. If teams are prepared to pay enough for him, the compensation will be given out based on that formula. Doesn't matter who the player is or people's opinions of him, the rules are rules. [censored].
  10. Their first round pick or he can walk. Don't let us get [censored] over Roos. They've come out saying their medicos are confident he can get back to his career best form. Well, career best form is a first round pick. Probably a stupid thing for Geelong's recruiters to say in the media, isn't it?
  11. GWS will get Petracca via trade. It's not even a question. Forget about getting him because it just isn't going to happen. Even Whateley said it is a fait accompli that they'll trade a few players to Saints just to get the first pick. They have to shrink their list by 3 this season.
  12. And clubs all pretty much tell each other who they're planning to pick up in the draft. Why else would they have draft meetings with all clubs? Clubs have intentionally not taken certain players in the draft due to various trade deals and machinations. In this instance we know GWS only have eyes for Petracca, Saints would be giving up the 1 for 4 to get McCartin or Wright. Bulldogs would be taking 2 or 3 and giving us 6 for either McCartin or Wright. We would be sweetening any Dangerfield deal with Adelaide to make sure they don't take Brayshaw with 2 if we pull off that trade. That only leaves Brisbane's pick 5 which is being traded to Colonwood, who we are also dealing with in the Heretier trade. We may well sweeten our deal for them to ensure they leave Brayshaw at 5. That's how he makes pick 6. (wishfully thinking)
  13. Swann's a cantankerous old fool who should get his own house in order before criticising others. If pick 5 isn't enough to get Beams, guess what? There's this magical thing called a trade market. What you do is call the teams with higher picks and offer them players in exchange for getting said higher picks, especially if you've made the inspired decision to poach contracted players from the most difficult trade table club in the league. So how about you get back to worrying about important issues like, I don't know... fixing your club's $12m debt? Making the Lions remotely relevant? Maybe if you've got any spare brain cells after that you could even turn a profit like us, rather than be drip fed money by the AFL?* PS: Next time your club sacks a coach, they should probably make sure the replacement wants to come coach you first. Must hurt knowing he chose us instead. *aware of blatant hypocrisy
  14. As for Malthouse pondering why every club should have to suffer because we can't hold on to Frawley? More great logic there from Mickey. Bet he wouldn't be too concerned about the 11 teams above him on the ladder moving down a pick if he got pick 8 as compensation for losing Gibbs. Anyway, I doubt we've formed our entire recruitment strategy around the "potential" of getting pick 3. It would've been assured behind closed doors, probably around the time the PP was rejected. Roos isn't dumb enough to say he expects it unless he knows it's coming, lest he look the fool.

  16. Not to mention any players being brought from Geelong to our club would probably be traded against their will. Just get the picks. Didn't Geelong want Blease? Give them Clark and Blease for their first pick.
  17. Well, Tom Scully will be relieved. Someone else has finally left the club on worse terms than him.
  18. Geelong pay unders, yes. But the Hawks are premiers and from all reports are leading the race. Would Chip choose Geelong for less money just to be with Rivers and Clark? One isn't far off retiring and the other might never play a game. If the Hawks offer $50-$100k more over the same duration, they'd be hard to turn down. Chip delaying his decision until after the GF says he wants to know what the Hawks are offering, which probably means playing with his mate at Geelong ain't as important as getting himself a better deal.
  19. Imagine that.. our so called "home" ground actually being our home ground.
  20. Are all delisted players delisted free agents, so we can pick up as many as we like, ala Gwilt, Schroeder, Burbury, etc. regardless of years of service? What's the point of the PSD then? Purely for clubs trying to retain players that refuse to sign contracts, but haven't played for 8years?
  21. It's frightening if the mindset of two senior, leadership group players is that leaving for greener pastures is just "the best thing for *insert player name here*". Deadset frightening the message that sends to the rest of the team. Where did Garland say that about Frawley? You'd almost trade him immediately hearing that kind of sentiment, especially when he's a free agent next year. None of us want a repeat of the Frawley disaster, especially if he starts feeding the " benefits " of moving to other clubs back to his mates at the MFC.
  22. Weren't we linked to Merrett a few weeks back? Doesn't seem to be much trade action going on with Richmond, Essendon, Bulldosg, West Coast or Adelaide with player recruitment.
  23. If they put up [censored] players we'll just ask for their second rounder. Then that gets us Lamumba?
  24. Simple fact is they ain't going to give up a single player they consider part of their long-term plans. Despite how important Clark could be to their premiership chances next year. He's definitely given me a new team to despise and root against though. Looking forward to seeing Bartel duck their team out in straight sets again next year, if they make finals at all.
  25. I hope we do play hard ball. If Geelong are oh so confident with the report their medical team have done on him, as thingy said on radio, then he isn't worth trading for a dud they're trying to off load. Clearly they think they can get away with daylight robbery here but we're not that stupid. If Roos can get us the pick for Lamumba off them as well as a player, it'll be a good result.
