Would pick 3 and 23 get us Tomlinson, Jaksch and Frost? Carlton can't get the right trade currency to make the deal happen so they're shopping Jaksch around to Essendon of all places. Would improve our talls, midfield and defense, and we keep pick 2 for Brayshaw.

How do we go from Mahoney saying " we're confident that trade will happen " to being disinterested? Money? Brisbane's demands? I can't see any reasons why we wouldn't want a guy like Merrett, so if we've lost interest something has clearly gone very wrong. I mean, we're taking types like Garlett and Lamumba, renowned for their off field antics. Has a better player come into the equation that we're putting our energy into? It just flies in the face of everything Roos said over the last half of the season. We don't seem to be doing anything despite his ruminations of drastically cleaning up this list.

Is McCartin's diabetes any concern?

I find it hard to believe none of the players we've targetted are interested in coming to us. If nothing else, Tomlinson would come here to play with his best mate and return to Melbourne. Second rounder would get that trade done I reckon.

Wanted to be hopeful but just yesterday the Giants were posting photos on Twitter of Cameron training at Giants HQ. If they knew he was out the door I doubt they'd have bothered, and I doubt he'd be in Sydney starting training. Yep, player managers have a lot to answer for. Unpleasant pricks the lot of them. Only after one thing: money. The longterm welfare of the game does not factor into their job one iota.

Hopefully Geelong's second and third rounders come to us. That's Lamumba and Frost trades done. Frost has played 12 games, we aren't giving our second rounder for him unless it's packaged with another player (Giles?)

Can't possibly understand why we aren't swooping in with a better offer here, both financially and in terms of picks? Collingwood will offer peanuts for him. We'll give our second rounder? And really, are the two clubs that hard to separate at the moment? Sure, we suck, but there's not the stink around us like there is with Buckley at the moment.

He's either staying retired or playing with another club. This leaves you with two options: A. Let him move to another club and get a free compensation pick, potentially ~38. or B. Refuse to let him move to another club, so he stays retired and you receive nothing at all. Geez, hard choice that one. Naturally, they've chosen option B.

Not giving up our second rounder for Lamumba is a good start, and getting more off Geelong (albeit heading to Collingwood) isn't bad either. Still think Geelong are the biggest winners in that trade; would really prefer to get more than just Lamumba, like Geelong's 3rd rounder. Collingwood would demand picks 2 and 3. They're hopeless. I still can't believe how they're already discussing what they'll trade pick 23 for on BF forums. Or choosing Geelong because his Mrs got into a course down there. After we paid for her course in Melbourne.
