Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
SaberFang replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
And if we ship off Watts or Howe, we could end up with another first rounder to package with pick #2. Danger & Beams combo, yes please! -

Gosh, we've got a steal with this kid. What a gem. -

Can't remember where I heard/read it but I was under the impression Beams was sympathetic to the issues Lamumba had with the club, even agreeing that infamous gay slur poster was inappropriate. -
No chance. The last thing GWS want now is draft picks; they want senior players.
-
What exactly would be the Lions plan next year to trade him in? They'll have picks with worse currency and will still refuse to trade any players to Collingwood for him. He won't make it through the PSD to them, and if he does, Collingwood are giving him up for nothing?
-
There's a rather delicious irony if the priori...Frawley compo pick secures us Beams and [censored] over Swann, especially after his little tanty the other week.
-
Can we GPS track where posters are posting from? Wouldn't surprise me if one of the above happened to be located in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was just throwing us off the scent.

Makes me really, really nervous that we'd consider this so soon after the Clark disaster. I think we all wish we'd never intercepted that trade with Freo. Nice to see Neeld's legacy come full circle as a complete and utter disaster in every single way.

If Brisbane want him so badly, they really should offer us one of their young'uns for pick 3. Then package picks 3 and 5 to Collingwood. Simple! -

Trenners didn't have a navicular bone injury in 2013... and it's easy enough to judge from the outside. He's obviously seen something he doesn't like, hence he was dropped to Casey. In any case, if the opportunity has arisen to replace him with a better player, we simply have to take that opportunity. -
Obviously it's a ridiculous fantasy but.. Trenners is one of our highest paid players. Offloading him would allow us to pay Danger $1m/year and Beams $800k/year. Lock both into 6 year contracts and it's financially tempting, especially if they both know one another are coming to the club and on-field success suddenly looks very healthy. Picks 3 and 12 will get it done for Beams. Trade off a Watts/Howe/Grimes type for another first rounder and we can package pick 2 and ~10 for Danger. Not as farfetched as it seems.

What happens when neither Beams or Danger come to us?

Stretch and Jetta are 2 picks... we can just get someone to throw in a steak knives pick in the 4th round if necessary. Beams + Danger... oh man... -
Where's GNF when you need him?

Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
SaberFang replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I distinctly remember howls from supporters that Trenners deserved to be dropped for some of his awful output earlier this year. I know it ended up being injury related... but we also have to consider that he can't get back to his best following his surgery. That particular injury can be career ending. I'd love to see him get back to his best and become the player we all hoped he could be, but I can't help thinking this is part of the scar tissue (thanks to Neeld's moronic captaincy decision) that Roos is trying to excise from our list. -

I think people like the idea of what Trenners could be for this club, based on his first season form. Sadly it's been missing for a really long time. I was relieved when it looked like an injury had been behind it, and I looked forward to seeing him regain his form next year... but if this is the first step to getting an established A-grader to our club, the decision is easy for my liking. -
Agreed 100%. I'd love to have him here, and he'd know Dawes & Lamumba. Collingwood would agree to picks 3 and 12 as well, I'd reckon. But he seems pretty keen on going to Queensland... just have a bad feeling about intercepting that desire after the entire Clark debacle... it'll take a while to get over that one.

Plenty of clubs looking to buy into the first round will be looking at us differently if we can package pick 3 and 12 together for a player. No surprise this has been released right before the weekend, so clubs can ponder their options. -
Except he'd practically be training next door to the Magpies and wants to go to play with his brother.

Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

A week ago everyone was throwing around trades like pick 3 + Trenners for Dangerfield as the best deal in town. Now it's sacrilege? -

Almost undoubtedly a pick 12 + pick 3 package deal brewing. We wouldn't be tossing out our former captain and second rounder for an 18 year old at pick 12. A club has come back to us and said, "pick 3 and 23 ain't enough... we need it with another first rounder." -

Yep, scarily good lineup. Someone on BF mentioned it was a little suss that only a few months after Gil was up there for crisis talks, they assign a new CEO and suddenly all these players want to go to Brisbane. I know Swann came out talking about how much money they had free in their cap (no doubt Gil's filling their coffers despite the $10m deficit). If it's that easy to lure Christensen/Beams types to Brisbane for the money, don't see why we can't do the same. -
It's a good trade if we get pick 6 in return though. Bulldogs get their key forward, we get Lever, Daulhaus and Brayshaw. But they'll take Wright or McCartin with pick 4 (likely the pick from GWS for Griffen) so we probably don't have much leverage anymore.

No chance, he's already training under Hinkley and Burgess' fitness program.

Garlett will help take pressure off JKH as well. He's a great trainer and earned his spot this year, but looked really deflated after that Collingwood match. It's nice to have a coach protecting our younguns for a change, rather than throwing them off the deep end.
