  1. Paige said he's been unofficially pulling him aside throughout the year at Sandy matches and mentoring him. It's obvious he's seen plenty that he likes, and Tyler would be giving him plenty of feedback. And Salem, whom Brayshaw has said he wants to model his game on. A perfect Paul Roos draftee.
  2. Certainly wouldn't be a first. And yes, in a nutshell. Yes. AFL introduced COLA. AFL introduced the Academy rules. AFL introduced free agency. Then they complain when smarter teams take advantage of these outrageous concessions.
  3. Presumably Roos will prefer the player who likes the dirty stuff more. The one who tackles, has more agility, a bigger tank and better fitness. But then he might prefer the guy with class. Interesting to know his thoughts on Hogan.
  4. Well Mahoney did come out and say it after the Griffen story broke, so the club must have reconsidered their options. GWS won't be able to get pick 1 if they give pick 4 to the Bulldogs for Griffen.
  5. Wonder if Taylor prefers Wright or McCartin...
  6. Pick 23 is worth a Bernie Vince type. I think that benchmark for Roos was set last year. I'd say we've left the ball in GWS' court to offer us a deal worth considering, otherwise we'll just get him for free in the PSD. Hence the delay.
  7. Not saying they didn't abuse these lavish rules, including free agency, but if the AFL were stupid enough to introduce the rules without thinking about loopholes it's their own fault. It really comes down to the fact that they wanted Buddy to go to GWS. The success of the Wanderers couldn't be a more disastrous outcome for the AFL. And having 3 years of pathetic output from GWS hasn't endeared themselves to the community.
  8. You gotta wonder if this sudden change of heart about taking picks 2 and 3 to the draft is because the Saints told us they're taking McCartin?
  9. I reckon the opposite. Roos clearly wants Brayshaw but also wants to repeat the Tyson deal from last year. We are in the perfect position to do both thanks to the compo, so effectively we can have our cake and eat it too. Last year it took our first and second rounder, both of which we've thus far held on to.I reckon both will be given up for established players by the end of next week and we'll happily take Brayshaw, Stretch and Jetta as our 3 picks. Maybe a pick 30-40 player like JKH that Taylor recommends, if another club throws in any late picks as sweeteners.
  10. And we have to take two players minimum in the draft, other than Stretch. Or would Jetta count as one of these? Meaning we could go to the draft with only pick 2 and get Brayshaw?
  11. Tappy, Blease and Strauss will all be delisted by next week if no clubs show interest. We're potentially picking up Gwilt and/or Jones as DFA. How does that factor into the equation? Very frustrated and disappointed so far at the total lack of player trades.
  12. We must have at least $1.7m in the salary cap with Frawley and Clark both gone. We were already only paying the minimum cap. Pretty sure the bold drafting from the Lions has been a result of throwing around some big ticket contracts and seeing what bites. About time we do the same. Put a few $550k 4 year contracts under their noses and we'll see how much they want to stay in western Sydney.
  13. You'd have to be pretty brain dead to turn down picks 2 and 3 for a player that's leaving the year after for nothing. I mean, really..
  14. Geez, between Essendon, Bulldogs and Collingwood having all these issues, it makes our club look attractive.
  15. Stoked with this. Hopefully he can take JKH under his wing and they can feed off each other in complimentary roles, ala Betts and Garlett in 2013. Carlton are really on the nose. How are they planning to kick goals next year?? No Waite, no Garlett, no Betts.
  16. Bizarre. All they've done is follow the rules the AFL put in place. Sydney didn't introduce free agency or COLA.
  17. Just some reverse psychology in case the Saints are reading
  18. Let's be honest, would the football manager of GWS have come out last night and said they'd successfully courted Griffen? If we have Danger it's going to be revealed in a very controlled fashion and not in a radio interview.
  19. Picks 4 and 6 is a good trade off for the Dogs to lose a player with only 2 or 3 years left. It will push them back 2 years though if they start a mini-rebuild.
  20. GWS giving up pick 4 for Griffen is perfect. Any deal for Petracca falls through for the Saints now, so they go to the draft and have to choose between a KPF or another midfielder. The latter are a dime a dozen, hopefully they go with the KPF and we take the two best mids.
  21. Found the comment about Griffen interesting. He's "waiting to hear back from his manager". Also rumours that the Greenwood trade might have fallen through and he's changed his mind about Collingwood. WTF is going on?
  22. Yeah, heard that. Adelaide said no but he worded it all very carefully. "We've talked to his management." Left the door open.
  23. Was thinking the same. We're clearly not prepared to give them much for Frost, but would be happy to part with our second rounder if they give us two players.
  24. Could just tell GWS they can have our second rounder for their second rounder and Frost, or else we'll take him for free in the PSD. They get a mildly better pick and don't lose him for nothing.
