  1. Very good point your Highness. A highly skilled and talented player who has not said peep for the past 16 matches he has played and also inconsistently over the past 3 years actually plays a good game and his supporters igorantly come out and say" that should silence his critics" and other says we should applaud it like manna from heaven. His game against Freo only makes his other limp performances including last Saturday all the more embarrassing and highlight what a passenger he has become. Its been a progressive fall from marquee to marginal player. I am gald he has learnt after 250+ games to lay a tackle because it's a last ditch effort from a player who can nno longer rely on his skills to cut corners.
  2. Choko, My concern is Bizz is slow and unaccountable for his man and offers us little. When things were ru hard against in 2004/2005, Bizz was one of the first to disappear. We missed nothing with him. While I love Wheels, I think his star is waning and his game against the Hawks was loose and his tackling crude. Its starting to happen more and more. This does not vindicate Brown or Ward. I think it was Old that had Sylvia coming off the half back line and I like that!
  3. Sydney have Maljeski, Kenneally and Barry running off the backline with Buchanan and Schneider. The issue is the pace at which you move the ball which does not always rely on leg speed. Sydney made us look sloow. Good point about confusing talent and leadership. An error often done at MFC.
  4. I dont believe that is true. The Club has had many years to assess Warnock especially during his time at Sandy. He just goes there without suggesting he can step up. I think we know where he is at. FWIW, Ferg offers us more than Warnock. And yes I would prefer Frawley but alas.....
  5. I have pushed Sylvia back. I am not sure with Green and Jones. If they did not come up, I'd run Buckley.
  6. Ward is injured and anyway just went at Sandy. Hardly recall material.
  7. As shown by the Sydney game its really irrelevant who you play down there when you get smashed in the centre clearances 13-1. Holland is injured and would not be in contention anyway. Bizzell was terrible at Sandy yesterday and could not be called upon. Its clear his days are numbered and he validated the selectors decision last week to drop him. It clear those calling for his recall were not at Sandy yesterday. Warnock is a solid VFL defender nothing more. Ferguson is Ferg! Tried tested and left wanting. If you had to have a 3rd defender, I guess its him. Ho hum. My back six. B: Bell, Carroll, Ferg HB: Sylvia, Rivers, Petterd
  8. Hardly. what changed with Yze that we did not already know? His good form in one game only illustrates the perennial cop out and downhill skier he has been in the previous 12 matches and often over the past 3 years.
  9. BB, Just a hint....Farmer is the one in the lock up. He is a talented but flawed player. He is not a great player. Whatever he gives via his 55 goals he takes back with his tragic on field antics and off field problems. I would not be so sure about that. <_<
  10. Jaded, Idont believe there is a backflip just the recognition of where things are at. It would be a back flip if I actually held my stance given my stated reasons. I think some major things have changed in the past three weeks: 1. Our injury list has been extended and added too. 2. We are 0 and 5 and have been really uncompetitive in any game. 3. Many of our senior players havwe deteriorated form wise to the extent many should be playing their last year. 4. Some of the younger players are performing at Sandy whereas many who were demended to be selected at around Rd 2 were either not fit or match ready. In short, we are in development mode this year and if a players is showing at Sandy that they are ready to take the next step then we should be looking to give them a run. Players like Brown and Co have failed and should not be playing for the Zebras and give those players who are resdy to play a run. FWIW, its one game (a good one) from Newton that I have seen recently but I would like him to have some time both with and without Neita at AFL level. As I said elsewhere he should be given a couple of weeks in the AFL.
  11. Great. What magic. One cant get the ball, one is too fat to play and the other is in a lock up far far away. Would not touch him with an 80ft barge pole. He was high maintenance at MFC and has not matured one iota since. A nasty and unreliable character both on and off the field. He walked on MFC once and I dont want him back. We have enough senior player who exhibit little to a positive team culture. We dont need a society misfit who would destroy it.
  12. Its not relevant because Jolly wanted out. Daniher was not given the chance to develop it from that point on. Where did I make the statement that I knew of Daniher's intentions? I did not make one. Tsk tsk.
  13. The issue is with you Anders placing unreal expectations on him so early. FCS, Bate is still only 19. He is under siege and lost confidence in a side where more experienced players have flown the white flag. Like Petterd, Bate has ability. He should be given fair chance to show it.
  14. No contest.... Newton. Jaded, I think our season is shot. Mathematically we could make the finals but I am buggered if we can do it given the impact of injuries. I think we need to move into development mode now. I would play Newton this week without Neitz but I would be prepared to give him 3 to 4 weeks in the MFC seniors (2 without Neitz, 2 with Neitz) Neitz provides plusses and minuses for Newton. I do not believe another couple of weeks trying to win some of the limelight up forward off Saunter will do much for him. Given the retarded development program Newton has had so far at MFC, MFC needs to give the guy a go and provide him with some surety of commitment of opportunities. IMO, Dunn and Miller are fighting for the other spot. And despite Millers best efforts.........
  15. Deanox the difference between Ferg and Newton is the way they play. The guys shows alot of talent and class more so than Ferg. Who knows Newton may not ultimately make it. But IMO it wont be lack of ability. With Ferg I know what I get and he is perfect example of the gulf between VFL anf AFL. Very good at VFL level. Just not there at AFL level. As far as spurs, Newton played in an intraclub match where Robbo and Neitz were present. He melted and played like he did not believe he belonged. There omissions would not have it home. Maybe Garland selection as a first year player who had not set the house on fire may have rung some bells. Newton looks like a player that can make it at the next level. He is worth the try now. He will lack opportunities when Neitz and Robbo return.
  16. How does your rule apply to Newton and not to Garland? Garland has been solid at Sandy without demanding selection. Do you think Garland selection might have been a mental spur for Newton? If so it worked. Newton has ability and exhibited it today. Did you see it? IMO he put his hand up for selection this week in a big way.
  17. Jack, A few facts about the Collingwood recruits.... Lets look at Dick, Cox and Toovey. Two are rookie elevations who have had a season playing with men and two preseasons under their belt. Cox is 21 and Toovey 20. Both are older than Bate, Dunn and Jones. In addition, Collingwood were only lacking Buckley from their best team and these players came into a relatively settled side. BTW, what choice does Malthouse have? He traded his second best forward signalling that they were in development mode. Not just Bartram.....He also blooded Dunn, Jones and Bate as 18 yos not 20/21 yos and backed them all the way. He has continued to do so this year. Frawley platyed every pre season game until injured. Petterd was injured in the pre season after a promising start and highly regarded. I believe without injury he would have been in the mix earlier. He has just got his game going when selected. In addition, he has had to work McLean, Sylvia and Bell through OP will giving them numerous opportunities with limited experience. You might wish to assess the number of player with less than 60 games in the MFC side throughout 2006. There was a fair bit of gumption there. Based on their games to day, Newton and Buckley will get a run shortly without a doubt.
  18. Never let the facts get in the way of a good conspiracy. The fitness guy implemented the program designed by the FD to improve their on field game. He did this. However most of the injuries have been from collision or on field contact not new soft tissue injuries. Absolutely off the track.
  19. Yze reverted to mean today. Funny the silence from his supporters now. Hmmmm.
  20. Funny I could have sworn he had played a number of second year players who are struggling at the moment and had Frawley been fit he would have been in round 1. I guess playing Bartram round 1 last year does not help either. How have we suffered Jack?
  21. Ferg plays VFL because he repeatedly cant do those things at AFL level. Newton for PJ or Garland.
  22. Why will ND prob only debut 1 more player for the season? Newton deserves a shot after his game today. Buckley is very close. Frawley would play if not injured.
  23. I'd dropped PJ. You dont need White, Clogs and PJ if Neitz is in. Newton for Garland.
  24. From Sandy today, Newton did enough to justify selection at FF. Just like Brown has killed his career with that game last night, Bizzell did the same at Sandy. Just went and looked slow. Got pinged holding the ball twice when he failed to take the first option then overstepped the goal square on a kick out. Very ordinary. Warnock was OK but did not do enough to justify selection. Ferg is good at this level but struggles higher up. Buckley was very good in the first and last quarters especially. Ins: Newton, Buckley,Green Out: Garland, Brown, Bate (inj) . If Neitz is fit, then PJ goes. Jamar is not rucking well, PJ cant ruck.
  25. DD, I saw the Sandy game and Newton showed a lot of class and poise against ordinary opposition played up forward. Sautner was a bit scrubby at FF. He kicked six (3 from tight angles with set shots) and dished one off beautifully to another Sandy player with a good footpass. His kicking style is superb. Given where MFC's season is at and Neitz is out, I would select Newton at FF this week against Port Adel.
