  1. Its a contributing factor no matter how you wish to close your mind Gouga. If we playing Ferg for Rivers, Godfrey for McLean etc. then ????
  2. The team as a whole is underskilled by the absence of the key players like McLean Rivers and co.
  3. Take a tablet and have a rest Jarka. For all of Clints's marvellous insight there is no guarantee that sacking the coach will lead to a better outcome. FWIW, Clint wanted him gone when we were winning last year. Its amazing we cant even get a reasonable competitive team on the track and the mindless witch hunt goes on. So given any of the assistants are part of this terrible debacle how can they be reasonably appointed to the caretake role? Its pity misguided passion has overlooked a bit of deeper thought. Light your torches and hit the streets fellas!
  4. I see its Daniher not the players. Good grief.
  5. I cant believe you think he doesn't. What do you want him to do in front of the media? If there has to be issues of responsibililty or failure to do so..it down behind closed doors not in the superficial surroundings of bloodhounds looking for their next headline.
  6. Given the team is quite clearly had its confidence crushed from the close results of the past two weeks and given the factors leading into this game were at risk of a blow out from a better side. It would be churlish and unprofessional of ND to attack his players in a media conference. Thank God he is a better person than that. A loss like that eveyone takes the shine for it. Its extremely difficult fielding an injury depleted under skilled team and its taking its toll on everyone at the Club. Its amazing what people expect to here said at Press conferences. If there are harsh words to be said. They should be said behind closed doors. Not in a post match press conference.
  7. MFC will be in crisis and will become a media circus joke if it sacks ND prior to the end of the season. Its in everyone's interest that the Club and ND ultimately part terms in a respected manner at year end. It solves nothing. Exacerbates the problems, puts the Club in turmoil and reflects poorly on the Board's conduct. Hardly a good way to attract a good replacement coach for next year. I am not sure what the bloodlust is amongst alleged supporters that they want this to happen. Thankfully, the Board has more sense that what is regularly splashed on this site.
  8. Thanks Jaded its a good honest article.
  9. Free kick came about because of an action of a player in a team. And the question should be asked how did the ball get down there in the first place.
  10. The coverage of the analysis of the what actually happens in a game is less than 50%. So there is much that is analysed. For those of you that have read Moneyball a book on the use of statistics in US baseball. I think baseball is alot more easier to categorise than the randomness of Australian rules football. Maurie is right long accurate kicking is important while a kick to the opposition from that is costly. I think that has been argued on this site before. I am surprised the elements that may bring lead to a long accurate kick like a tackle or a good tap out dont get value. What about shepherds and smothers? I would have thought how get possession and the frequency is as important as what you do with it when you get.
  11. Very good post Fan. Most of the content will be missed my most. From the posts in response so far it seems so. Unfortunately the misinformed witch burning will continue.
  12. Condolences to family and friends of Peter Hayes. A good supporter of the Club.
  13. If he resigns..he wont be still coaching. I think the Club and ND will honour their part of the bargain and work to prevent the season slipping further into a hole. The Board would no doubt be planning 2008 and the succession issues.
  14. Agree. And nothing is gained by such a blood letting. ND will be gone at year end and so will some senior players.
  15. Good point. This will probably escape most of the posters here tonight.
  16. Thanks to Wrecker and everyone else for their reports. While everyone has commented on Newton, any impression on Johnson who has been listed by BRB as B.O.G? Wrecker why wont CJ pull on the red and blue again? Medhurst has not made it and frankly his current contract with the Pies could well be his last. Poyas is a very good VFL footballer who wasa unable to bridge the gap to the higher level...period. Disappointing to hear about McLean though.
  17. Maybe its indicative of the mug supporter!....
  18. Its simple. What does our midfield look like without McLean there? Its crap Its ironic that your No 1 is highly talented but very inconsistent. Too often he has been out there but he is not visible or prominent. TJ is important but if he is No 1, we are really in a pickle. I dont think that is the case. P.S. I do acknowledge your placement of Carroll. He makes some errors but if he goes down who plays full back to cover him? To me it increases his importance to be fit and firing.
  19. After three years of downhill skiing, Yze is starting to realise that he can no loger cut corners. He played well against 2 of the least hardc bodied teams in the AFL. Soon as it gets tight and physical, he dissolves and disappers Yze is a finisher not a match winner and what ever x factor his supporters believe he has is gone. He has burned his credits and is a week to week proposition. And none of the three have done well in tight physical games or September. Its clayton's stuff that is overrated on this site. Robbo is useless when the ball hits the turf and does not chase. He was lucky not to be dropped last year. I was undecided about Brown but at least he gives his all when he plays. I would see Frawley replacing him by year end.
  20. Hell, it might be good if CJ shows something at AFL level. In that time he has been on he has seemed all at sea ands to build his confidence and belief that he can play at this level. He wont do it by turning out the crud he has so far. I think he will make it. But he has to take the bit between the teeth and deliver. Sylvia has and has OP for the past 3 years which has crucified his development. He shown that he can compete at AFL when fit. His situation is completely different to CJ.
  21. Which one? Pettard and Frawley?? No thanks. Given how our year has turned out re injuries we could do with one less undisciplined player. On what basis did Collingwood want Green? People on this site are great at self promoting their own trade deals that would be laughable for the other side. I am sure Collingwood will still trade for your left nut.
