  1. He was delisted end of 2005 and the Dons picked him up in the PSD
  2. A club doing that would be undermining their objective to improve their list. That would be silly. I understand that when Heff was traded to MFC by Essendon he did not want to go and Sheedy said he would then have to get used to playing back pocket in Bendigo 2nds for the rest of his career. Heff agreed to be traded (Rats!) Its says alot about our list management that we did not ship Ferg off at the first opportrunity and kept him (and others) too long on our list.
  3. We had four years out of five that we finished top 8 (2002, 2004,2005,2006) and our attendance numbers were still rather meek. Its going to take a number of issues to be addressed but a critical issue is the need for real sustained success over a number of years that (hopefully) includes a premiership to make MFC a bankable and well supported entity.
  4. The noise levels were up against Freo and Brisbane but the numbers certainly werent. The issue is whether a Saturday draw consistently improves the numbers for MFC to a higher amount than it would for higher drawing clubs. The AFL is using Saturday to maximise the crowds from all its games. THe upside in numbers to playing a Coll- Carlton game on a Saturday as opposed to NM-MFC on a Saturday does not justify given NM-MFC a regular Saturday game. I think the deaf ears are the MFC supporters who have been urged by the Club for the past 10 years ro so to turn up to games and buy memberships. Aside from the trusty and hardy souls that do, alot do not. Unless we get a significant upside in spectator numbers we have little to bargain for with the AFL.
  5. For good reason... 1. We are a better side than we were at the start of the year. 2. At 17 and 1, Geelong have little to gain out of this game bar four expected points and more importantly no injuries nor suspensions to key players. Its a good opportunity for Geelong to hone and experiment with a couple of tactics/players. I do not expect them to be primed at their 100% best for the game. Either way, its predominantly up to Geelong how much they win by. I'd say 48 points. Happy for an unlikely upset though! :D
  6. Marginal at best if at all. And you have no substantiation to your claim. Hence my challenging of those that think this is some come uppance to Vlad. It is not.
  7. Correct both low supporter clubs. Roughly 10,000 each supporter group. However the given MFC's poor run there would naturally be a fall off in numbers. It was an MFC home game and the crowd stayed away like they do. So we play Essendon at the MCG as an away game (meaning MFC members have to pay to attend)on a Saturday and our numbers are dramatically inproved. Pull the other one.
  8. Exactly right Hannibal. The criticism of Morton on this site is beyond belief (but true to form for Freak )
  9. You fool yourself. I went to the game and saw red and blue numbers down in the MCC members and then later in the general football area where it seemed predominantly Essendon with a few hardy souls. We reached 46k on the back of Essendon's support. We had NM at the MCG last week and struggled to get over 21K.
  10. Exactly. Essendon are a marque club with strong supporter base and high turnouts. Its naivety to think MFC supporters were out in droves for this game.
  11. You actually trying to make a point youami?
  12. He's talented but has a number of core issues. No one is claiming he should be dominating but making a competitive effort. He does not do it. His issue is attitude not injury. If the Club thinks it can work through them and make an AFL player out of him then I have no problem with that.
  13. Could not be further from the facts. Bailey has indeed been under the blow torch by the media particularly after the first two rounds when we got flogged. At least there are some smarter souls in the media who actually realise the train wreck that Bailey has inherited and could at least understand what he is trying to do with seriously undermanned youth ridden list. The smarter media hacks realise where things are at with MFC. In addition, Bailey has had to contend with sub AFL training facilities with a completely disstabilised Board structure and Football executive and the Club's financial position and future being dissected in the media daily. MFC in its 150 year has been a complete rabble off the field and a media laughing stock in many respects. Knights has yet to experience any of that pressure. Hasn't Bailey had it easy! Amazing.
  14. Thought of Greg Wells myself. Saw Wells first game. Wells was a gun from day 1. No slur on Valenti but he is not in Wells league.
  15. HT, Is it a twit for doing his job and reporting what he had overheard Demetriou say or did he misquote Demetriou by mentioning six months? FWIW, in its current state both MFC and NMFC are stuffed unless they can develop sustainable and viable business models. Neither are such at the moment.
  16. Collingwood had a 3 to 4 year period where they either traded for the window in 2002 and 2003 or they just drafted duds. The failures in those years are coming home to roost for the Pies.
  17. White is gone regardless. Who would trade for an undersized ruckman with no physical presence who cant cut a game anymore in a bottom side anymore and is struggling in the VFL. Carroll was offered for trade last year and MFC were laughed at. Another player who cant get a game in a bottom club and is a renowned culture sore. If he was not contracted, you would delist him. If Bode is gone then Weetra??. Its a pity he is not a bottle of wine as he may well inprove with age. But Weetra is corked and cant even cut a game in Sandy 1sts and does not make an impact at Sandy 2nds. Moloney has been crippled with OP for the past 2 to 3 years. He also has shoulder problems. He lacks pace, has acountability issues and limited decision making. None of the teams you mentioned need or require Moloney. In fact each of those teams have a surplus of that type of player. And Moloney only gets a 2nd round pick? Really? Why do posters on this site naively believe that underperforming players in a bottom dwelling club like MFC mythically have some trade value to another Club (or Clubs) who posters think would have no idea about issues that even the supporter sitting on the second tier of the Southern Stand could see?
  18. You must think other Clubs are complete dills if you think they will get sideswiped by a No3 draft pick in one of the most ordinary drafts ever who has been (and may still be) crippled by OP, has never performed at high level and has off field attitude problems. We are just not going to extract any reasonable value from Sylvia in the market. And a second round draft pick is covering pick around 20 to 36. MFC would have to be satisfied that they will get more value out of an unknown in that range than a player they have had at close quarters for five years who the Footy department believe is likely to improve.
  19. While you might get your wish with Newton and he gets another year his attitude issues are personal core matters. Either he wants to play at this level or his does not. As for the Coaches working him hard over the summer. Its not a fitness thing. Its between the ears. And no one is junking every 20-21 year old at the Club.... just the ones who show they either are not good enough or do not have the attitude. FWIW I have seen plenty of younger players who display buckets more attitude and effort than Newton in a month than he has shown in a year. I agree I think you are dreaming that another team will want both Green and Wheatley and pay what you think. Its a not an issue whether Wheatley will play in a premiership side but whether we can get more for him on the trade table than his worth to the Club by keeping him. Anyway tell Steven Armstrong that! I dont believe Bell is that effective and we should take a 3rd rounder if we can get it for him.
  20. I dont think you can use Miller as a proxy for Newton as they are completely different types of players with different issues to address. For all Miller limitations over the years, work ethic and effort are not part of them. Newton has more natural ability than Miller but his work ethic and effort which have been an issue through his time at MFC is just nowhere near where it should be for AFL. Newton needs to grow into his head more than his body. You are dreaming if you think a) the Club will readily trade two of its better players this year and one who shows leadership at a time it is lacking and b ) that a bottom club will get away three meaningful trades in trade week. We will be lucky to get one trade away for a straight draft pick and I dont think his name is on your list.
  21. Ahh yes there is football............. I/C: Aussie,Valenti, Martin, Johnson If Junior does not come up, give it to Maric.
  22. I think the President is elected by the Board. The Board is elected by the members. Under the Constitution, all appointed Board members are due to stand down at the next AGM and stand for re election. Given there is unlikely to be an alternative ticket to the current administration, they should be re-elected unopposed.
