  1. No you cant. Richmond certainly need another ruckman and could be in the mix. However, if for whatever reason he does not want to come to MFC its no good just matching the $$$$. You only end up with two unhappy parties. If we dont get Warnock we are going to have to trade for a capable 1st ruck.
  2. Watson has hit a 1 day 100 for Aust! <_< B) Your 2nd statement is correct. We need Warnock as we cant rely on PJ/Jamar to lead the ruck again.
  3. If he is out of contract and cant renew his terms with MFC, then he could go for nothing in the PSD.
  4. The soon to be appointed CEO should be driving that appointment.
  5. Not necessarily. If he was interested and given Stynes had already named as a preferred candidate then he would have been offered the job without the interviews. He has done his due diligence on MFC, considered the package and his interest and decided not to accept.
  6. Completely agree. Armstrong reminds me of Godfrey's performances. People rave when is a 3/10 and the rest of team is 2/10. Nevertheless AFL has richly reward Armas for being a fringe player.
  7. Agree with your logic but cant say whether it was good sense or not. Schwab had said that he did not want another CEO role at an AFL club some time ago prior to McNamara's sacking.
  8. Only if Warnock wants to play with us. If we dont shore him up, MFC will have to use a reasonable draft pick to get a better alternative to what we have now.
  9. The fact is we dont. Our midfield relies on a 21 yo McLean and 20 yo in Jones. Honest hard workers that have shouldered the burden for a third world midfield where the standard drops away dramatically from those two. If we had better leadership in the Club I doubt whether Junior would have got another contract. He has been a great servant of the Club but is in his twilight. Moloney just cant get on the track and I am yet to see how he represents any definite future for the MFC midfield. Valenti is still a fringe player and is still to be a new contract. I dont know what you would achieve by further weakening our midfield. Id keep him.
  10. Very sharp observation Redleg.
  11. How much weight was actually lost DM? I recall at the time it was a miniscule amount of the teams total body weight. The most obvious candidate was Nathan Jones who trimmed down to be able to run out games which he struggled to do in 2006. Guess what it worked specifically with him. The body weight issues was a non event and there were bigger issues that caused our slide. ND realised unlike many of the posters here that the game had changed and that his kicking style of game was not going to get past the middle rungs of the ladder. However he realised it far too late. In effectively his last year at the Club he was not able to adapt to the new game either tactically nor within a playing list that he had not maintained the rutlhlessness to appropriately prune post 2002. We pay the price now for the generousity afforded some player during list management in those days. The game of AFL football has changed more in the past four years than it has in the previous 10 years. Some just dont realise by how much.
  12. We do. "Work ethic" and "play out of your skin" are not the same. A team can have a good work ethic and not do well due to the opposition. Playing out of your skin suggests playing well and WCE against the Hawks does not suggest that likely.
  13. Measuring it by appearing in the best at Sandy may represent the "form" you require and given that Yze makes a number of appearances in the best and does not get selected may mean your criteria for "form" is different to the Coach's criteria without necesarily having agendas. On the basis of the way Dean's wants them to play and the way Yze has played I can see that Yze's "form" would not excite Bailey in the least. If we did not have a long list of injuries, I doubt Yze would be in our top 25 to 30 at any time.
  14. You would be naive to overlook what they got in 1999 as well 13 Corey 31 Chapman 38 Ling 47 Enright and they still managed to blow pick 15 on David Spriggs and survive the fall out.
  15. Yze who has show an habitual dislike for doing the basic head over the football requirements may not have the form required. I dont think an appearance in the best for Sandy in the newspaper is an automatic basis for inclusion. A player like Yze has more ability than most in the VFL and can turn it on without performing the requisite criteria that a Coach would value for selection in the AFL. The guy is an anathema to the game plan and culture MFC are trying to cultivate and this week will be probably be told he is not wanted next year and his MFC career is finished after R22. He will probably get a send off game in R22 nevertheless.
  16. Sadly too true. Now any takers to coax Mal Michael for another run? Careful your post about "Just what we needed" is in the same basket.
  17. Its got nothing to do with who you play when you said "And sides playing at home tend to lift their work ethic in front of their supporters". Your comment is about what teams to do themselves re work ethic in response to home crowd support. My point just proves your statement absurd. WCE are playing Hawthorn next week at Subi. Go dream.
  18. Supporters should get over the pretence of a player's number. Both Hird and Buckley passed on their numbers respectively at Essendon and Collingwood immediately. Get Neitz to present to our first draft pick pre 2009. Its just a bloody number lets just pass it on immediately to a player the Club believes is deserving next season.
  19. We proved that against Geelong last week didnt we. Dont overestimate it again. WCE have a mix of players both young and old. Many of the old are finished like Braun and FLetcher and Worsfold did not seem to care to much about it either at the 3/4 time huddle. MFC really got an entree serve with some really really sloppy football from WCE. It was a real 15vs 16 game where 16th side played like 15.5 side and the 15th side rolled over and played like a weekend club side. Its a great win for the younger players you mention and they deserve the congratulations. Its a pity they were not given the due sporting respect by the opposition that hardly gave a yelp after quarter time.
  20. It was a crap standard game where MFC strung together some better sequences of plays than the apathetic WCE. Its was a great step forward for many of our younger players and that was great. WCE had 10 players from their 2006 premiership side. They played poorly and provided not a smidge of real pressure on us. Comparing their work effort between the Essendon game and this game is like assessing the gap in the Grand Canyon.
  21. What a contradiction you are. How could we have played out the season in honest and forthright manner if we tanked this game? Also what credibility would Bailey have had given his statements to the other wise? I could have take a loss but for the confidence of the younger players after the previous weeks there were definite positives.
