  1. 6 months for that. Larkins is dreaming. He will struggle to back before 2013 if at all. Rotten luck for player just starting to find his feet. And tacky add by Tasplan about going hard and retirement when a player is injured like that. Get well quick James. Deserve better than that.
  2. Won a flag in 2004. Not a good idea for MFC to slag off at other clubs atm.
  3. Did it occur to you that over the past 4 years our list has got younger. We now have one of the youngest lists in the AFL. They are still to develop mentally and phyisically for AFL. We are at least 3 years behind Carlton as they bottomed in 2005,2006,2007. They also recruited Judd. As he should today he is a once in generation star. Worth 3 players in any side. MFC had a bigger rebuild thsn Carlton had.
  4. Theatrical. Both are players that have not complied with team rules during the past couple of weeks. Says alot about our spirit. Nutshell. Rivers and JoelMac looked pedestrian today. Rivers is another leader who is invisible.
  5. What's Rivers direct opponent done? Moloney got a touch in the 1st half??? Neither he or Green are captaincy material. Moloney needs to realise the leadership is more than strutting your chest and slap your teammates on the ass at the breaks to gee them. Make a contest. Make a presence.
  6. All the assistants will be gone at year end. They wont survive the incoming coach and fallout. And its unlikely they would sign an assistant coach for 3 years when the head coach was up for one year....Hmmmm.
  7. Player Management with the one of the major player management agencies.
  8. Nice pick Real Demon. The issues were bubbling for some time and MFC have not dealt with them. Rather prophetic article from Caro.
  9. The AFL could have investigated WCE, MFC, Carlton and Hawks to name a few over the past 5 years. They did not and wont. The AFL have nothing to gain by proving that they have been asleep at the wheel when there was commentary and circumstantial evidence that this could have been happening over the years. And given the disposition of Stynes and his watermark on the rebuild of MFC, they are going to look extremely mean fisted and poor in the public's eyes if they attack MFC. In the absence of a really big cache of proof then its another storm in the teacup. If the AFL really want to deal with "tanking" they should eliminate the PP.
  10. Some interesting points. I have no issue with McGuire and Dunstall who work in the media and have taken formal roles within their Club with the responsibility and accountability that goes with it. I note that Lyon does not like the Club politics. Well, I would have thought Lyon has been pulling strings as a "confidante" or a "mate" and was certainly up to his arm pits in it. While its his right to give opinion in the media, some of his public criticism of people at the Club gives his clandestine role at the club is disturbing. He has hardly been indepedent over the past 2 years. Good luck to Lyon in the short term as filling the void and addressing the issues. However once that is completed it should be a case that if he is "in" he takes a formal position or not then he is out. If he is in I think he could make a useful contribution as there is a lack of football experience on the Board.
  11. Thanks for that. I am always skeptical of Big Footy as a source of information and the BF Op did say his comments were vague. There appear to be some holes in BF statements: 1. The issue with performance based contracts is that your ability to contain TPP is contingent to an extent on the performance of the players. If each and every player reaches or achieves his performance metric then you salary cap will be breached and a Club does not want to do that. Also if the performance metrics are set too unreasonably then the introduction of PBC just represents a subtle salary haircut that is bound to pizz players and their managers off. This is also not something the Club wants to do. 2.If PBC was Schwabs idea then it should have Schwab and Connolly who should have got Board approval and implemented it with the players. It was not Bailey job as coach to handle player contracts. Given the media are saying that there has been tension between CC/CS and Bailey I cant Bailey performing functions which are clearly out of his coaching remit.Given that Schwab did not even have the decency to inform Bailey of the appointment of Todd Viney to the MFC FD in a critical role then Icant see how they would have worked together on something which Blind Freddie could see to be so potentially poisonous in player relations. 3. And based on what has transpired this year in the leadership, I cant believe Brad Green effectively leading a players revolt. 4. After Saturday's bruise free performance, I certainly dont think the senior players have any leverage in the future of CS. If they had any Darwinian instinct they would make their football talk only and loudest. I think there is more to come out from MFC once the season is finished.
  12. Am I involved? Never said I was. I buy a membership, attend the odd function and contributed to the DD. No more than you CC's father died about four months ago (about the same time mine did too). It does not appropriately explain his lower profile. There are other reasons. CS has become less visible since JS took "public" hold of the football department. CS's whiteboard sessions have ceased and there are fewer public statements by CS
  13. And the same question would apply to you. Maintain those high double standards.
  14. As far as Gladiatrorial is concerned Robbie you have doing the Russell Crowe to a broad spectrum of posters ever since you joined. Seems you could not get enough on Ology. Any issue with employing Junior on the basis that he is actually the best candidate for an actual job at MFC? Its not a hard nor unreasonable criteria.
  15. Will you contribute as little as you have on the TS topic? I'd expect alot of reconciliation on your part to cover other areas.
  16. As Club CEO he makes a run of the mill journalist. Harris was given too much leash toward the end of his tenure at MFC and should have been shunted earlier.
  17. Mirror mirror on the wall Robbie. Might you ask that question each time you log on. B) That conclusion might be yours. But if there is a specific role open in the FD where he is the best candidate then do it. Otherwise we seem to have enough gratuitous roles at MFC at the moment for "mates".
  18. Hmmm..Horses mouth. He needs to give a bit that will fix things. Bravo on the a) to e). Its the best analysis you have conjured to date. Its a pity you cant understand people's right (particularly when they commit the considerable capital) to question the performance and activities of elements a) to d) yet you perpetually attack other supporters. Either you want to [censored] one small element e) in the whole picture to try and be different to the herd with bizarre double standards and naivety. You take wide swipes at people who dare raise a question on those a) to d) elements as "blaming" yet you ping fellow supporters. No wonder you cant see the broader picture. Rpfc has summed it well as why we question those elements entrusted by members/supporters. You keep saying and there's no argument from me on that. Good choice but Teddy Bear's picnic captures the moment.
  19. Agree. Wipe most of the current group.
  20. The issue you at hand is the contribution by key element of the Club is questionable. There would appear to have been some fundamental and critical failings and break downs from Stynes, Board, CEO, Coach, FD and players. This is in stark contrast to the members/supporters who have been asked to dig deep and eliminate $5m of debt. It appears that bit put by those sectors greatly outweighs the mottled and conflicted contributions from critical parts of the Club. I doubt we would match a Dick Pratt. In the post DD world, MFC has yet to establish a sound business model that would deliver a profitable future. That the immediate need and thats the CEOs role. Its not sustainable to go the supporters well continually particularly the circus that gets served up every 3 to 4 years by this Club. CS has been in the role for 3 years and knows the gig. He took this job with his eyes open and had been at MFC before. The questions you pose are some of the questions that are bread and butter jobs for a CEO. Its the job of the head of the FD to "keep the players happy". Schwab seems to have acted more as a glorified football manager with an agenda. As for the sniping, Schwab is not the victim in this. And his public undermining of the coach in the press earlier this year was poor really poor. You overrate yourself. You wont enter any discussion that you feel in some way criticises elements of the Club. However you are quite ready to mock in a junvenile any reasonable proposal from other posters that accord with your alleged out of the herd concepts. You're pedalling double standards and you seem the one that lacks the pragmatism required in 2011. If you join the dots on your complaints about crowd turn ups etc with the need for MFC to stand on our own two feet, the absence of a sustainable and profitable business plan by MFC means that to just really on continual open charity of supporters for survival is untenable and unreasonable. And guess what every MFC supporters wants the Club to survive and prosper. I dont know why it required mentioning as if it was special. But its a bit rich for supporters to do more than they have (and they have done alot over the past 3 years) when there is systematic failings and flaws in the house we are funding.
  21. If we call a timid closet jumper puncher like Dunn having "grunt" then we are stuffed. Any chance he win the hard contested position or contest a mark at the front of the pack without dropping his head? LOL. You might have undermined your first statement with your second one.
  22. How about our CEO dedicates himself to building a sustainable business plan that allows the Club to prosper and compete against bigger clubs rather than micro manage areas that should be left to people employed to do so? Maybe the CEO could give a bit as well. We could even give a bank loan. Oh we have already done that. How is your vision of the future going? It wont be made up by supporters/members digging deeper than they have for the past five years. Although you are welcome to buy more memberships and then wonder why others arent doing the same.... Hmmm. Oh if Dick Pratt had only barracked for MFC.
  23. Did he ask for it? Or did it take a crisis to do it? If Jimma was too proud could he be putting himself before the interest of the Club? The Board should be responsible for overseeing that or do they? It would be nice if our CEO was doing one job effectively..his own. He wasnt covering for Jimma at all. Two month ago Stynes decided to take control of the FD after Schwab and Connolly had been heavily critised in the report. A 12 month extension for a CEO is a rice paper walk. He is on shaky ground. Great news on Lyon. Will he write a good article in Age on the weekend or will he give us a 10sec compliment on the Footy Show?
