  1. Foundation Dinner....... Thanks for confirming there is no indication that he is actually interested in MFC. The rest of the floss was unnecessary.
  2. Like...Do you have the links?? ...Sounds like more of your melodrama WYL? Why do you make up silly implied versions of others posters view? Does it make your position feel more plausible? Given today's press is reporting Malthouse is getting over $1 million a year, can MFC afford that if it already can rattling the can to save Scully? Also given Malthouse's preference for well financed football departments, why would he take a salary hair cut and a reduced FD budget to coach MFC? The closest the players get to Arizona is a travel brochure in the physio's rooms. All MM has said is that he has not ruled out coaching again when his current contract expires. He has said nothing about coaching another club like MFC directly or by implication. If anything his pronouncments have been designed to stir the pots at his current home.
  3. Sorry I didnt knnow you made a point. I can see he was trying but he tailed off. And the free would have been due to the error of Garlett and his endeavour was a by play.
  4. Bizarre. His past two coaching roles have been with the richest football admins in the country. He is smart enough to go where the good money is. What signs has he shown that he is very interested in Melbourne's coaching? Can you provide me with a media link where he has said or indicated this? This is big news.
  5. Is it relevant what Bailey was like as a player? I dont want the Club to "punt" a coaching position particularly to a coach who is a 2 time failure at AFL level. I want the best coach around.
  6. Fluff. Neitz struggled as captain in his first 2 years before leading with valour.
  7. Bench Morton, McKenzie, Petterd and Blease. Would have like to have McDonald and Nicho playing but.... Bad injury for Gysberts. If its a broken scaphoid then its not good. Bate looks like he has played his last MFC game.
  8. Sort of answers your question doesn't. He turned Freo around off the field during his tenure. He may not be great but there are many things Neitz is at MFC. Being CEO aint one of them.
  9. Correct assessment IMO. Garlett made JoelMac look pedestrian.
  10. Melodrama at best. Even without Ablett, the Cats still had a formitable playing list with a number at their prime. Scott has done a good job but he would have realised that he has an opportunity to flag challenge within in the next 2 to 3 years
  11. Based on the OP's criteria, would prefer him as a player rather than a Coach. Ayres has had his day as a coach and been found wanting at the top level. We surely can do better than Ayres cant we?
  12. Davey is vey much an outside midfielder. If we are getting routinely smashed in the middle and not geting the inside clearances then he will struggle. I think he is the small forward role. As for his long history of injuries, over his first 7 years he has played 136 games out of 158. He missed 22 games of which 2 were for striking and 1 for Club disclipinary reasons. So history shows he has not had a long line of injuries that have taken a long time to get over. In 2010 he missed the last 3 rounds. Dont mistake out of form for being past it. They are not necessarily the same thing.
  13. Davey has just turned 28 and not 34. He is out of form. Even if he is just a small forward from here in then its something MFC sadly lack. I am sure shipping out a leadership group player on a trade will work well with the playing group morale. It would want to be a good trade offer. And if Bennell and Wonna are not up to AFL, I am not sure how Jetta could or will still make it. Battles hard but has few leading skills that he can build a sustainable career at AFL level.
  14. Good idea. So Clubs just "invest" in a young player or their family members? By paper bags of unused notes. Swiss bank accounts. Third party arrangements. Has all the honesty and integrity of the process of persuasion of an IOC or FIFA delegate.
  15. Thought the same thing. He did run way too far and should have been pinged for it. Not that it would have changed the course of the game at all..just the margin.
  16. Sorry We chased Hale and Ball. Its make a bald lie of your claim "MFC decision not to chase experienced bodies in last years drafting and trading process cost Bailey his job." Irrelevant because the Hales future performances will have no impact on Bailey's position now. If Mooney is so important to Geelong, why has played most of the season in the VFL before being given some junk time jolly games. Mooney has already said that he is only playing to have another crack at the flag before he retires. How a player who has the yips in front of goal and is in the twilight of his career would want to come to MFC who were no certainty to make the 8. Brown is 3rd/4th up forward in a crack side. He would get exposed being the key forward at MFC like he did at Freo and NMFC . And again why would he? At around 30 why would he leave a flag challenging club to join MFC. Come on do so real thinking and come with players we could have realistically got. No you are trying to duck shove a silly comment about Bailey tenure being cut because MFC did not chase experienced players. Good. Thats a more supportable proposition than the silliness you have run around in circles with. And in regard to last sentence, you have aching need of mirror mirror. WCE won flags in 1992 and 1994 on the back of the most generous draft concessions ever granted (see Adelaide as well). The money spiral in AFL took off in mid to late 90s. Since then WCE have been heavy spenders on the FD. And in the past 15 years have won only 1 flag. $$$$ are important but are not the sole determinant. You need the money in the FD but you also need alot of others things as well. $$$$$ wont guarantee you the success. Read Collingwood pre 2010 and Adelaide (1997-98 were flags built on great draft concessions). Its ironic you make the comment about the penny dropping especially from someone who does not seem to be able to find the coin slot on issues. I made the comment about "unreasonable and untenable" if you think the FD funding is going to funded by supporters without a plausible viable business plan generated by the Club. If you did do your "bit" and had a bit of nous you would understand just where and to what proportion the funding of a successful club actually is. Its pity you try an mock things you dont understand. I have a 9 year old nephew that does that also but I am sure he will mature out of that.
  17. He could be rookied for his next contract. I would have thought medical insurance would have covered loss of income for him. Get better soon James.
  18. Amazing. I would have thought they have managed to focus well at MFC in recent weeks on a range of things other than getting the ball. I would have thought being involved in the play and winning the contested pill would be the 1%ers they need to actually concentrate on. Given Sylvia was selected as rover he would have been playing a number of main midfield roles. GIven we swamped the opposition, then I cant see how they could be applying any critical pressure without getting the ball. And a lame side like Sandy aint going to make you accountable. Its likely that both Jurrah and Sylvia would have been playing midfield/ forward. By the looks of the score the game was played in that region of the field. If they werent getting involved then they're both playing like cats and should be down at Casey for another week. And junk time goals and stats dont count.
  19. Patently wrong again. MFC did chase experienced players last year. It was active in the market for David Hale and the year before went puruing Luke Ball. Bailey's job went for other reasons. We went chasing for David Hale for the so called forward -ruckman last year and missed out. And as it turned out he would not have made much difference given injury and indifferent form. Which players were definitely available last year that we could have plausibly targetted? At this stage of their careers neither Brown or Mooney are game breakers. They play specific roles within two AFL juggernauts. They would not have saved Bailey's skin. Its clear his cards were marked well before the start of this year. That's wrong too. Its a pity you dont know the reason and have to guess. WCE have always spent big on the FD. Their rise up the ladder this has been the return to fitness form of their top experienced six in Cox, Kerr, Embley, Lynch, Priddis, Nicovski and their development of Shuey, Nik Nat etc. FD spend is a big aid but you must you use funds wisely. Up to 2010, Collingwood had won 1 flag in the past 51 years and their past decade had been rather ordinary given the amount of money available for coaching, PD, medicial and facilities.
  20. Thanks KC. Informative as usual. Thats the issue with Sylvia. Has most of the cards in the deck. Just does not play them enough. He should be tearing this level apart. Particularly given the opposition. Disappointing that Jurrah and Maric are not doing likewise. Thanks for the info lucifer. A couple of points though. 1. Not sure why you would upgrade Robbie Campbell at this time of the year. I dont think ruckman are our weakness. Its ironic that when Jamar and SPencer went down earlier rhis year we could have used Campbell as an elevated rookie...but he was injured. I would only rookie Campbell next year and keep as injury insurance for main list players. 2. In side that is struggling for leaderrship and maturity, I would not touch Fevola with a barge pole. He has found his mark in VFL. I am not sure what help he could give Watts who has moved past ever playing for Casey again. And in many cases Watts has a broader set of skills than Fevola. And to date I cant say that Fevola has had any positive influence on Cook. 3. Tom McD looks to be coming on well. Look forward to seeing him at MFC in 2012
  21. I did say if..... His battle will be psychological as much as its physical. The Tasplan ad seemed tacky when you have a player down with a career threatening sickening injury and Tasplan trumpet "going in hard" and preparing for your "retirement" Guess I hate ads anyway.
  22. Good question on the 1st line. But your comment about Jimmy's post match comment is both ungracious given his precarious position and what would you expect a Club President to say in his condition, hasnt seen the match on public radio? Did you really think a terminally ill man would vent and criticise people on commercial radio???
  23. I guess the tent line is the extent of your thinking. Given our midfield has been pumped against medium to top class opposition this year its a fair assessment of the disposition of Rivers. Gets found out under pressure. FWIW, Richo and David King on AW werent too impressed with his contribution and body work through out the day.
  24. Costs you nothing. MFC costs you more. B)
  25. Rivers looked pedestrian last week too. The man cannot play body on body Oh, I guess the scoreboard shook them up a bit. That was horrific. For the record, there were other more junior players that continued to plough after the Strauss. But I forgot Rivers is in the leadership group.
