  1. Agree to a point. Jury is still out on Neeld as we have had a couple of practice games so far. So if you are correct it makes a mockery of Neeld being the first coach to not accept mediocrity. I am not sure Bailey did either. And as you have pointed out its the basically the same list as last year.
  2. I love a good conspiracy theory but given Jurrah could be looking at serious stretch in Her Majesty's, its a bit a long straw that his minders are try to get him to Collingwood. He is dealing with huge life issues at the moment. I dont think playing for another Club would be in the priority list. And if he is found gulity of the alleged offences then AFL contract expiries wont be an issue.
  3. I am not sure any coach does accept it and I am not sure a press conference is valid basis for assessment. If MFC does have an ordinary year on the field can we then assume the coach "accepts mediocrity"?
  4. Well done Fork. A really interesting and thought provoking read.
  5. At least you in a better place than the fantasy land you claimed to have been in 12 months. Cheer up
  6. And I am sure Neeld and the Club wont be jumping to conclusions ahead of the facts like some are doing here.
  7. Hell, to lose the Freo game in 2009 would have made the Richmond tank effort look very mild. Freo were putrid that day and tossed the towel in early.
  8. I have just wasted time deleting a number of cultural stereotyping posts and unwarranted and ill thought allegations of racism against other posters. This topic has been thrashed around and dealt with, Thread locked.
  9. AFL 1. Judd 2. Ablett 3. Franklin 4. Pendlebury 5. Selwood MFC 1. Frawley 2. Jamar. 3. Trengove 4. Garland 5. Sylvia
  10. .... to a typical cliche. What makes a champion team in the AFL?........Its top 5/6 players. Its not a mutually exclusive issue. Wrong. We didn't have the quality in the top 5. Our best 5 in that period were talented and capable players but were not good enough nor consistent enough to take us all the way.
  11. No Depth is Depth. Nothing more, nothing less. Its hardly an embarrassment of riches. Too often when subjected to a couple of tough games (losses), depth is more illusory and an embarrassment more than riches. Good clubs become great clubs because they are able to develop a top 5 or 6 that not only consistently dominate contests and games but make those around them better players. We dont have the 5 that match it with the best.... We have a couple with potential to be worthy of the top 5 but none of them are there yet.
  12. Thanks Emu. Did he own it or actually work in it? Never let a fact get the way of your conspiracy theory WYL.
  13. Worsfold completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 1989. To the best of my knowledge he has never worked as a "pharmacist" or done the further qualifications to actually become a qualified chemist or pharmacist. An undergraduate degree does not necessarily equip you with the experience to fulfill properly fulfill the professional duties of that vocation. Worsfold appears to have played AFL from the age of 18 and moved into coaching upon retirement. To suggest that "he knew" based on him being a chemist is a misrepresentation and a long stretch of the facts if any facts were indeed being implied here. If anything tell tale issues would should have been more likely identified by doctors are professionally trained, qualified and experienced.
  14. Some days you dont even have to bait the hook just jiggle..... Firstly it was never a 5 year plan and any rebuild from the depths we were was going to take longer than that. Issues like Scully only add to the challenge. And anyone with half a brain can see where the side is truly at.and still coming developmental stage. And mindless rants do nothing to address it. Secondly, you have already shown that you cant count to five.
  15. Both Bate and Dunn have had seven years on the list and have yet to make an impression in the side. Of the 7 games Bate got last year, Dunn played in 4 of them. They weren't chasing the same position on the field but there in the same position off it. They have 2012 to make an impression. Well it will be his 8th year and we will know soon enough.
  16. Well you can bet London to a brick he is going to be on SEN to represent Collingwood interests and he is going to stir the pot. And its typical SEN fodder. I am not sure why you punish yourself. B)
  17. McLardy hardly goes into meltdown on every McGuire comment like some on D'land. And i would expect McLardy to be a bit more astute when deciding when and if to respond to McGuire. Its always the same from McGuire. You know what he is going to say. The double standards are mostly obvious and consistent. He wants a better deal for Collingwood...period. Most of his talk is self spun and serving promotion that just stirs the pot and the chooks go for it.
  18. Remember there are "NO MORE EXCUSES".
  19. The continual hand wringing here over Eddie continually spruiking Collingwood's interest is hilarious. I am not sure why so many are rivetted listening to him. He is a frist class spruiker of his own or Collingwood's interest. Its the same thing time and time again.
  20. He has had seven years on the list and has not nabbed a clear position in the best 22 and on last years form is not close. He is in his final year of contract... MFC will have to off load oput of contract and/or surplus players to take up their PP and their draft picks.... His name is in the gun. And with every week he does not cement a spot in the best 22 then the closer he is to the door. And if you dont like participating in thse types of discussions then you dont have to.
  21. Good post Its Time. If anything it took the Saints far longer to gel to Lyons plan. They bombed in the EF under Thomas in 2006 and missed the finals in their first year under Lyon. And they were further along the development path than MFC. There are a few supporters who will be disappointed with their over the top expectations this year. Nice if it happens but there is a good chance its going to be a tough year as the players mature and adjust to a new coach. I expect the 2nd half of the draw to be better than the 1st half for MFC.
