  1. Its hardly blunt. I think that is the expectation and belief of the current and past FD that the sooner that the younger players usurp the senior group then we will be in a better space. However, it is tougher developing younger player when your senior players dont give a yelp. And Olisik doesnt your last post give you a pointer on the rats and mice trade value of the senior list?....
  2. Agree OD. And he may not be alone from the over 23s.
  3. You either dont understand the AFL trade market or/and you are grossly overvaluing mediocre performance. Like I said you are sweating rats and mice.
  4. It isnt old dee. But if he did do that, I would seriously question why the need to humiliate a player if he is not performing. There are smarter ways of reprimanding a player. Send him to Casey 1s and keep him there and if he does not correct weaknesses then trade/delist him at years end.
  5. No the senior players just dont perform. And Blease has been out injured alot of the time. How does he hang the senior players out to dry?
  6. Why should senior players be held accountable for their own performances? Nice piece of misguided revisionism on Bailey. Pity its a red herring. The senior players are criticised because its the senior players who have failed to perform and where applicable lead. I cant see why they get any exemptions. In fact there are so few senior players that they have had more than enough opportunity to perform. Which senior players have been cast aside by Bailey and are still with MFC? Here are the List players over 26 yo and their position if they had a bad year (again) Green 31- finished and retired. Davey 28 - Contracted in 2013 - No trade value Jamar 28 - Depending on fitness and ruck stocks but could be one of the few effective senior leaders. Moloney 28 - Little trade value MacDonald - No trade value - Spend last year at Casey Rivers - Negligible trade value Sylvia - Moderate trade value. Possbly more upside keeping him for upside. You really are arguing about trade for rats and mice.
  7. Exactly. Another sloppy piece from the Hun. A huge so what piece. And Neeld cant "sack" players.....period. The Matthew Capuano affair from some years back makes the "sacking" of an AFL footballer harder than sacking an unperforming employee.
  8. Mathew Rendell may have been inopportune in his use of words and the context in which they may have been (ab)used by the media are appalling and in line with lowest effort by the media. And I cant see why his comments if true were released to the media anyway. I believe he has been hung out to dry by the AFL in an effort to diffuse the media storm in a teacup. About 10% of the AFL listed players are indigenous. I am not sure he would be an appropriate recruiting head at MFC under the circumstances
  9. Last time I looked Moloney, Sylvia, Magner and Jones had all celebrated their 21st birthdays some years ago. Comparing apples and bananas arent we??? You have only backed my comment about development...Hmmm. And Tapscott is a large frame with issues about his game that at um 20 he needs to address through developement. And Gysberts isnt the lost Cockatoo Collins triplet either. Glad you have cashed your chips so early LOL, Now there are some that would think........
  10. I think Wallet would want more lightweight outside players that can run fast. For all his years in football as a player and a coach there is no doubt he has rich knowledge of football. He made a poor fist of things at Richmond.
  11. Good summary Nasher. From what I have seen Maric and Jetta are line ball AFL at best.
  12. Alot of sense there. I cant think of many footballers at MFC (or in the AFL) who pass the critieria of tackling an oncoming Franklin. He is just 20 and debuted in R10 of 2010. He has played 18 games, won a Norwich Rising Star nom in 2010 and 2011. He is still learning the caper and developing his physique and maturity. There are bigger issues than Gysberts at the moment.
  13. I think it would be at best evenly split. Dont underestimate some of Norths younger players. There are some good ones there. However I think future upside over the next 2 to 3 years is better at MFC than North. They will struggle to replace the likes of Harvey, Rawlings when they retire. I dont think we have a coverage issues for any of our senior players (ex Jamar) when they go based on 2011 form.
  14. I am not sure why you keep evoking the past 48 years when we have a new coach, new FD, new president and a young list excluding under performing senior players. Your persistent reference to this is unnecessary and does little to deal with the here and now. There are many passionate supporters who have followed the MFC for longer than you but dont have to carry on like a trucculent school child. FWIW, if it was not obvious to you, our younger inexperienced players were exposed to the harsh realities of AFL football last year when our leaders either played up off the field or did not play when on it. Its clear Neeld wont stand for less than certain standards from the players. At best the bottom uncontracted six will be jettisoned in respect of a strong draft coming up with our PPs. Given the age and lack of experience of the Top 20 draft picks they have hardly been hidden or nurtured by MFC. There is nowhere to hide. Neeld has an opportunity to work out who he will keep and who he will dispense with. And i thought you had shown them the door last year. Remember no more excuses, rah rah rah and all that jazz you normally rant.
  15. ...and maybe you are on your own in the hyperbole industry...
  16. The fact is that are not showing that at all consistently on the ground where it counts. They look good against the bottom half and melt against the top half. Just like MFC. In fact they also lost to Collingwood by nearly 20 goals in one game. Its eeriely like MFC. http://stats.rleague.com/afl/teams/kangaroos/allgames.html I disagree we should be better than North. They have a better stable of senioor players in Harvey, Petrie, Wells, Firrito and Rawlings than we do. Better leadership. They were on average about 1 year older in their playing list and had about 500 games more experience week to week.So we are a younger more inexperienced team which was also dealing a number of off field issues including leadership crises. Its a case of your impatience overriding better judgment based on the facts.
  17. Your problem then. They were 4 and 18 with a worse percentage than us. They lost games they should have won if they were good enough but werent and in a few games they ran the white flag. If you wanted their trainwreck season rather than ours then it consistent with your judgement on rebuilds. Clark was going home to Freo before we lured him away. Rischtelli was horseflesh trade in the Fevola debacle. Said heaps about the Brisbane culture that you seem to admire Scully and Bruce were different situations. Scully vastly different
  18. Me neither! I dont think people have been claiming that either.... Hmmmm!
  19. It isnt a total rebuild at all. Neeld has to mature the existing list of talented youngsters. Alot of the hard work and pain has been done. There is still some hard steps to go. I wouldn't want Brisbane season or list for quids. There's a good reason they experienced quality players like Clark and Riscitelli are deserting the ship. They're doomed to bottom 4 or 5 for the next year or two with no easy way out. North cant beat the quality top sides and whenever they face a test against higher runged opposition they dissolve like dispirins in water. They are a middle rung traveller at the moment. They're doing their best from a limited songsheet but its not enough to make them a serious finals participant or challenger
  20. What rubbish. Over the course of his career, Jamar has had one of the most accurate goal conversion rates. He is currently at 68.8%. He had a blowout year last year and kicked 4.6. Prior to 2011, he was converting 74%. There are not many AFL foorballers that have a better conversion with that. Here is his tally over the years. 2003 2 1 2004 2005 1 2006 10 2 2007 4 3 2008 4 2 2009 7 2 2010 12 4 2011 4 6 Totals 44 20 And if Jamar takes a handball to a running player after taking a mark as opposed to going back looking for options and using up time then how can that be slowing us down. Gee the biggest issue with Jamar is his fitness to play as many games as possible. Not the misguided nitpicking here. Lets hope for a fit Russian this year.
  21. With due respect, i dont think at this stage any media person (with the exception of Whateley and Flannigan) have been able to come close to grappling with the enormity of the issues that the incident has raised. I am no fan of SEN. i find their discussion on football lightweight, too much footy talkback from callers that make the Coodabeens blush and far too many ads. I would not be hanging them on this issue.
  22. Draft Cap OD. We can take a big bottle of hindsight and get every pick correct without fail!! Otherwise Paris in September.....perfect! Good analysis DL 7. I think our options vs WCE options show us up well short and your optimism is based on a lot of "what ifs" some of which I am not confident of performance of some of our options. We will know this year. WCE bounced into the finals on the back of quality senior players being fit. We dont have them. And our potential best is still getting their 50 games up. I think there is a divide of functions between development and match day list coaching. Neeld has a bigger budget and a more mature list than Bailey to deal with.So I dont think it reflects one accepting mediocrity at all. I think Neeld takes over a generally better list where our future has had a few seasons to cut their teeth. I think there will players that will show their potential. Might even be Sylvia (Wont hold breath on that)
  23. Done old timer! Where shall we go for holidays? B)
  24. We also got Tingay, Lyon, Schwartz, G Lovett back from injury. We got Jeff White as a ready made 1st ruck in the days when you could get 1st ruck like that. It was significantly different personnel available.
  25. You are mistakening fluff at a post game media conference after an appalling to suit your argument that past coaches "accepted mediocirty". And taking positives out of a game is a far more responsible public position than admonishing players in public. I know both ND and DB both lashed players performances individually and as a team behind close doors. And if you are now claiming its the attitude of the players then thats different. And its not earth shattering to suggest days of playing mediocre football are behind us. I would have thought rpfc's straw poll on predictions for the first 11 rounds might have indicated. And how the year will turn out will be interesting to see. I am only quoting old dee on one of his really down days. I dont think its necessarily valid. The difference with WCE is that they had their best six and most expereienced six on the park fit and firing all year in 2011 which they did not in 2010. And there senior six are far better than MFC's senior six. I agree on the potential upside DL7. I am not buying the gloom many are bathing in so early in the year.
