Read the Casey Player review for this week. BOG off the HBF Viv Michie: Arguably our best player, Viv had 35 possessions, nine inside 50s and three effective tackles. We played Viv in a number of different roles and he took those challenges head on. We’ve got some fantastic results from him playing those roles we’re asking him to play. He had a really clear appetite for the contest and used the ball well. Viv’s really damaging when he gets his hands on the ball. I thought Viv was fantastic on the weekend.

Watching Casey last week it was pretty clear that the defense plan was for Viv to play a Bob Murphy type run out of the backline. He got 10 inside 50's as well as 1 goal. He looked a lot more comfortable this week and backed himself. Hope he has a similar game this week.

To each his own I guess but I wonder if you have never watched him play? His foot skills and hand skills are excellent. Above 80% DE which is a lot higher than most of the wonderkind lauded on the site. Read the Casey reviews written by the coach seems he disagrees with you as well.

Good thing is that people might learn how to spell the blokes name. M I C H I E Sorry to be a pedant.

If you went by what a coach said you would have no idea. I reckon Michie will be called up. Has been groomed to play HBF and owned it.

He played all but 15 minutes on the half back flank. Thought he was probably Casey's best. Very attacking but also saved at least 2 goals on the last line. Must admit one of these probably should have been a free to the bomber player but it wasn't paid. Straight kick into his bonce. Dropped like a stone. Lucky it wasn't CP5 kicking it because it would have taken his head off.

Had it bandaged yesterday but did not look discomforted. Handled his burger with aplomb.

Totally agree. Would be the clear leader of Casey's B&F at the moment. However he has never played in the backline in his life except the last two weeks. I think he has handled it very well and it has not diminished his ability to get the ball and drive it into the forward 50. I reckon he is a work in progress at the moment and will need a couple more weeks of training/experience in backline play to become fully accomplished. I don't get people on here saying he is only VFL level. He has been in the best two at Casey every game this year yet people are calling for others who are "dominating" in the VFL. I reckon Viv gets no respect because he is a quiet bloke who just gets on with his job. Very good disposal by both hand and foot. Reads the game well and brings others into the game. He was good in the games he got last year and would have been in the best 5 or 6 in each game as I recall.

Its the Essendon Cricket Club's board.

The great thing about his game is that he is playing half back flank yet is stacking up the possessions, must have had 10 inside 50s and 5 score assists as well as one of his own.

None really. Just thought it was a strange comparison but the stats indicate that they had similar debuts.

13Jimmy Toumpas 11 6 17 6 0 0 1 0 1 0 66 Christian Petracca 8 8 16 1 0 1 2 5 0 0 58 On one of these threads somebody compared Toumpas to Petracca. These stats are Jimmy's debut game against the Saints in 2014 compared to Petracca's stats from yesterday.
-
His disposal was at 66% or there about. Not good enough but for a debut game it was not too bad.
-
I thought he went okay but disposal at 63% efficiency is not good. In fact most of our players were under 80% which I consider is the pass mark at AFL level. He look like he tailed off pretty severely in the last quarter and a half. I think he had 3 touches in that time.

They should be texting like mad now.

Beat you. Started at 1/2 time

Agree with you sentiment. Yep I am biased. We all have favorite players. I find others opinions on players I don't particularly follow helpful and have been watching Casey replays to go back and watch players I have not watched closely. The only opinions that matter are the selection panel. But I also like reading others perspectives.

No offence intended Angry. I Like your reviews and do not understand how you can keep it all in your head. I did not see the game live on Saturday and was a little surprised at the difference between Demonland assesments and the Coaches assessment.
-
No idea Bob. I think he is capable in the middle and his numbers seem to back it up. I personally have him ahead of a few mids you mention but obviously what I or any fan thinks means SFA. I am also pretty biased but try to be balanced in my overall assessment. I cannot keep an eye on all the players like some can so I tend to pick two or three to watch in a game. I did not see the game live Saturday so am going on others reviews and observations. On demonland the two I tend to follow most had little to say about him and so I was surprised that the Coaches review was very positive. I noticed from the replay Casey had him at HBF on Saturday night so maybe that's where they are thinking he could end up.

Viv Michie: Viv was solid on Saturday night. He’s probably been our most consistent player over the past three weeks. We’re playing him in different roles at the moment, but his output is very pleasing. He ended up having 28 possessions and went inside 50 seven times. He’s giving us a lot of mid-forward connection. There was some stuff with his ball movement, where we would’ve liked him to be a little bit cleaner. His effort around his role and his intensity around the game was really solid. He’s been in really good form in the past three weeks. Seems the Casey coaching panel sees more than you in Viv's impact. Played half back in the 1st and 2nd quarters but still managed more inside 50s (7) than Trengove (3) , Petracca (3) and Grimes (4). From watching the replay on the MFC page he had one turnover and 2 ineffective disposals. Still he needs to kick more goals.

No longer acceptable. There are players in the twos that are earning their chance. Gus seems to be running out of puff way too early. Maybe the rotation limits are hurting him. He has already been rested once this season (5 weeks old). He just looked ordinary last night had 9 touches with 4 clangers. We now have the depth to ensure every one in the 1sts has earned their spot. Gus has not.

Willy smashed Casey in a practice match. Very good side.

Keep your eye on McInerney. Looks pretty capable and isn't far off playing in the firsts. Wont be surprised if he plays tonight.

Pretty much the same. No charge as for anyone as far as I know.
