  1. Rhys Shaw and pick 61 to Swans for pick 46 to Collingwood. Massive trade news. B)
  2. Well obviously we do, otherwise we would have pulled out of discussions, as Richmond did. There is no benefit to us in assisting Freo to get a better deal from Carlton, by feigning interest in him.
  3. Would the stench be from the empty travellers he left in the back seat?
  4. Due to wear and tear, CHF's rarely play any decent footy past the age of 28. Here's a 25 yo injury prone CHF, who we'd be lucky to get 60 games out of. Not in Bailey's policy of getting players who will give us 8 seasons of service. Pass.
  5. Reported somehwhere that he will earn a guaranteed $300k next year. Considering that Bell is on $250K, wouldn't be far off the mark. I'd say that we will definitely have to pay a large chunk of his salary.
  6. Crap. So if Jack Watts came out and said that he didn't want to be drafted by Melbourne, you'd bow to his wishes and draft someone else? BTW, Adam Cooney said at the time that he didn't want to get drafted by the Dogs. The rest is history. Any potential draftee could cry "restraint of trade" based on what you are saying. The mediation process compromises the whole draft system.
  7. Try SEN, not Essendon. We should do a deal with Freo and allow Green and Warnock to go into the PSD. We pick up Warnock and they can have Green.
  8. If Essendon are prepared to give up pick 23 in a strong draft, for an unproven player coming off a knee reco, you can have him. I'd be p#ssed off if we gave up a top 20 pick for him. As for Lovett, he's damaged goods and there aren't teams bargaining for him, so I doubt that you'll get a 2nd round pick for him.
  9. Agree. It's not as if his position at the club has become untenable, and he's walked out on the club. Either a suitable trade will be arranged, or he'll stay with the club.
  10. They probably get car sick from all the driving around showing them our training facilities. B)
  11. Free agency can work if players couldn't walk into the draft without the club receiving compensation. There would have to be an independent arbiter to assess the value of the player, and what compensation the club receives. Also, the salary cap would need to be changed so that it was a flat $amount, which includes marketing components. At the moment, some clubs are paying close to $1.5m more than others in TPP.
  12. People need to realise that there are many complexities involved in many of the trades, hence very few trades get finalised in the first 3-4 days. It's easy for a small fry like Adam Thomson to be traded as his contract would be fairly straight forward. On the other hand, for a club to obtain O'Keefe, they'd be looking to trade other players to free up salary cap room and provide draft picks to meet Sydney's demands. And the players put up for trade need to agree to be traded, find a suitable home, and come to a contractual agreement with their new club. People may get frustrated, but the trade period can't be condensed into 1-2 days.
  13. So was John Meesen, so what's your point?
  14. CJ's market value is a pick between 40-50. Unless the trade involves a player that addresses our needs, I'd keep him. Don't see the point in stockpiling draft picks unless they are top 20.
  15. Would you care to explain your last sentence? What "opportunities" do you have in mind?
  16. As much as i respect Brad Green, I'd take any deal involving Mitch Thorp in a heartbeat.
  17. He probably didn't get hassled by a nuff nuff Essendon supporter at the pub, asking him where he will be playing next year. B)
  18. So either Addam doesn't know Peter Szental and made it all up, or Peter Szental made it all up and was just trying to impress Addam. Hmmm, both scenarios seem highly unlikely if you ask me. If someone is prepared to name a source who's in a position of know, I tend to believe them.
  19. At least it has factual basis, unlike Nudge's work of fiction.
  20. What, make up trade scenarios and pretend that you have inside information? I think that Nudge showed that he's just a very naughty boy when he tried to call Arem an imbosile (sic).
  21. Thanks Addam, at least you've got the balls to reveal your source. What's interesting is that we're targeting so many players, yet I thought that the plan was to acquire draft picks. Personally, I like this approach.
  22. This was posted on Big Footy, so treat it with a grain of salt, but it's been suggested that Paul Wheatley was traded to the Swans for a 2nd round pick. Deal has been done in principle, but both clubs are waiting to attempt to upgrade the pick if possible through the O'Keefe deal.
  23. With their forward set-up, why would the Hawks want O'Keefe? They've already stated that experienced key defenders are what they're looking at.
  24. Neither. Give him a miss.
  25. But isn't that an indictment on our club? Not only can't we attract players to the club, we can't keep our own. That's why it's an off-field PR nightmare. How do we attract sponsors or kids to support us when things like this happen?
