How's PJ just sitting quietly off to the side, overseeing it all? The puppetmaster.

This. These things starting to go our way.

#5 still my favourite number because of the ox. Remember holding the banner (or trying to) on a windy day at Kardinia when it came down, his blind turn to avoid the steel post hitting his head was almost as impressive

Not sure what the etiquette is about passing this on, but just ran into the cousin of Jono O'rourke from GWS at a bar in Vienna. Reckons he's close to heading our way. Also told me some things about Watts' behaviour under Neeld but that Roos had really sorted him out. Take this as you will, merely passing on what I heard. Over and out.

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Clayton van Oliver replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
My job is taking American pensioners around Europe, teaching them about German and Dutch history, culture etc...Suffice it to say they've been hearing much more about Aussie Rules than they should the last few days and are fully up to date with the Mitch situation. Which is to say they know [censored] all like the rest of us. -
Love it. Maybe the club can come out with a 'lurker's membership pass', where you are allowed to go as far as the inside race of the G and peep through the gate Respect

Good onya mate, but I've got some sad news for you. You own an MFC membership and are on DL - that's a supporter!

Love watching the giraffe run

Who the [censored] is "Matthew Gawn"? Tony Shaw you muppet.

A big thanks to Demonlanders

[censored] 'em all? Go Dees -
I've been living overseas for years. It makes it easier to follow Melbourne, insulated from the pain by vast swathes of distance. Nonetheless, I have always and will always love this club. That's why I want to acknowledge everyone involved with DL -admin and members/posters- for making this site happen and keeping a connection open for all of us who can't witness the misery in person. (My subscription will be on its way soon.) As we hit the final round, and head towards a (hopefully) happier cricket season, I'm sure I'm not alone in thanking you all for being the weird bunch of argumentative and passionate sadomasochists that keep the spirit of this club alive. That's pretty much it. Cheers, keep up the good fight, Go Dees and (just for good measure) [censored] Collingwood.

Well, at least they did it as a team... -cough- -
When will we know we are taken seriously
Clayton van Oliver replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
In my room in Amsterdam with the window open, repeatedly watching those last two minutes, that final play, and reading everything I can about the match, and I hear some bloke describing the win to his mate as they walk past. That's serious! -
A year's a long time in football
Clayton van Oliver replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was there yesterday. It's as depressing as Gazza these days -
Do they have to be mutually exclusive?

How good is is that all the Roos-rumours turned out to be true, and the Dusty-rumours rubbish? Looks like the MFC is finally becoming DH free! ROOOOOS

How about Chris Dawes for Captain
Clayton van Oliver replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
Needs to get the body right. I'd put Clark in the same bracket: huge leadership potential, but needs to stay on the park first. -
Cheers, yea anybody coming to Amsterdam is welcome to come for a beer and a kick. We also play cricket a lot, the most intense sessions being on Australia/India day, usually in the snow. Have been on this site for years, but kept quiet more out of dealing with the tides of misery washing over our club, but feel like many that things are turning a corner and am allowing myself a bit more optimism these days. Why not? If this doesn't work, it's unlikely we'll survive, so may as well go at it with full belief. What is really bloody great about all this is that it seems we finally have a proper management team in place, rather than the ego-driven characters that have run the place for so long. Looking at clubs like Hawthorn, Sydney and Geelong, that seems to be a common factor - they've been driven by teams of people who are motivated, who typify the sought after culture that successful teams enjoy and, finally, who seem to be people that know what the [censored] they are doing. Happy days.

I'm a long time MFCSS sufferer, based out of Amsterdam. Thanks to everyone for keeping me and many others updated, even amidst the rumours, wind-ups and MFC related bouts of eternal pessimism. This is looking good! ROOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSS And congrats on the double ton
