  1. Did maric kick a goal in the 1st 10 seconds of the game?
  2. Greeny won the toss, we are kicking with the wind. Too the right of your screen..... half a minute ago via web That's from twitter... funny... which screen was that?
  3. 27,279 currently. Nearly at the March 31st 2010 tally already and still only the 10th of March. Not bad. But we need 5000 or so new members this year to get to 40,000. 37,000 seems realistic. I'd be happy with that. 40,000 next year would then be very achievable if we perform well in 2011.
  4. No I think you nailed the sarcasm well enough. And made a very good point. He kicked a couple of goals last weekend in a losing side and kicked a couple in the 1st week plus one against Essendon when we were woeful. He has silky skills and can set up goals with his vision and precision. If that is an average output for a developing 19y.o., I'm not too unhappy with that in our round 1 side. We are still a developing team. We need to develop with Watts up forward learning the trade with his team mates.
  5. Fairly good summary I thought.
  6. Forgive my ignorance on financial matters, but I gather having no assets is bad. Why the hell do we have no assets? Do we need to rectify this? And with such poor revenue affecting our ability to compete with the massive FD expenditures of the big clubs, where do we find the extra cash to obtain assets without borrowing and risking further debt? Unless revenue increases dramatically (ie. membership, attendances, interest, sponsorship etc.), we are still in a very weak financial position that places us at a clear competitive disadvantage in the short and long term.
  7. Whilst it would be nice to give as many kids a run as possible, it has to be within reason. We do want most of our best 21/2 out there to develop the synergy and continuity that comes with a settled side. Obviously some guys need a freshener and some guys deserve a chance to press a claim for round 1 selection. But the extended interchange bench and 3or 4 rested players provides enough scope for that. Whilst I'd love to see Blease, Tapscott, Wonna, Petterd, Gysberts et al., all have all been in the rehab group quite recently and might be best started back at Casey in their pre-season practice games, which likely start this weekend. There they can be nursed through and find their feet. Either way I'm not too fussed which direction we go, but I think we'll see most players who played last Thursday back on the park. BTW, anyone know about Garland's calf? Sorry if that has been posted elsewhere.
  8. 1. Sylvia - easily if he plays all 22 games. 2. Green - so consistent. 3. Scully - will be a prolific possession gatherer. Apology - Davey (could pip either of Scully or Green). Unlucky - Frawley (recovery period so will miss games and needs time to work back into things).
  9. This is a tentative team selection for Tomorrow's game. I have not received enough information to build a starting 18 so I made this up with the info I have. If you think you could not possibly play the position in which you have been listed (ie. if you are Fitzy in the ruck but only 173cm), let me know. I figured if I posted a team people may feel more inclined to reply re their best position, even if I got it horribly wrong. I have deliberately left out the Demonology players, but if you feel your name should be on this list please let me know asap. If the blues have enough numbers we may get some people back from Demonology... hopefully). If you have any last minute inclusions (friends/family), let me know/bring them along. The more the merrier - otherwise there will be little opportunity for interchanges. TEAM: B. Hans Demon_Tingles Steve HB. Madness Funky41 Junior C. 45HG16 Jacko Mickrocks1 HF. Poseidon Burke Charlesy Heater F. Toot182 Happeninghunts Wonnabeeri R. Fitzy Deemitch Scotty I/C: TBC Please arrive at the ground at 10am.
  10. Interesting. Could be a number of Thyroid conditions. We'll never know but he'll be fine.
  11. Hi guys. I trust that your training and preparation has been meticulous. I want to post a starting 18 tonight or tomorrow so last chance to get your positional preferences in. If you are a KPP, let me know. And if you are a ruckman, let me know. If you are a specialist starter on the bench then let me know that as well. If you have an endurance or body girth impairment, let me know so I know to rotate you for rest. The gameplan is simple and revolves around a similar exciting style to that used by Dean Bailey. Obviously we won't need to break tight zones, but I expect a flowing game using the corridor as our prime platform for forward 50 entries. Rollo, if I need to erase any off my list who are Demonology players not at my disposal, please let me know who they are. Countdown is on boys. Turn up focused and ready to play... for the Bananabenders and for our great club!!!
  12. From a medical point of view, I wouldn't get overly concerned by the mention of blood test abnormalities and health concerns. That could mean anything from a minor virus to a kidney or liver problem or even overtraining syndrome etc. I wouldn't get worked up. An example of an illness that can cause significant disruption to a player's training and life but usually has no adverse long-term outcome, is infectious mononucleosis ("glandular fever"). This is detectable by blood tests and can also cause abnormalities on liver function tests. Athletes with this viral illness often feel very unwell, fatigued, have a sore throat and enlarged tonsils etc. Most people know the deal as they have a friend who got "glandular fever". They are also at increased risk of rupturing the spleen as it becomes "fragile" during the illness. Because rupture can occur during strenuous exercise even without physical contact, players should not continue to train or play until all tests are normal and the infection has well and truly run its course. The usual time-frame is over months, not weeks. On recovery players generally will take a long time to regain full fitness as there has been a lengthy period of complete rest from training. Return to normal training is done in increments and takes time. I have no knowledge of what is bothering Troy at the moment, but all I'm saying is I wouldn't worry too much or jump to worst case scenario conclusions just from hearing about blood test abnormalities. Whatever it is, likely the outcome will be a period away from training until everything normalizes and it is safe to resume. He'll then take a while to return to full fitness which will be proportional to the amount of time he has missed and conditioning losses.
  13. He won't be doing any weights in the next few weeks. His finger will need to be immobilized after the operation.
  14. Burst of expletives!!!!!!!!
  15. Is that a sick joke or are you being serious???
  16. Oh.... my.... Lord.... What are they smoking over there? It just goes on and on too. Not once did anyone there think any of that was inappropriate at any point. Weird. I mean, it was very funny and very entertaining, but...
  17. Pringle = Fail
  18. 23072 on club website. How are we going compared with last year?
  19. To all Demonlanders. I apologize for my tardiness. I have been away for quite some time and am trying to get a few things in order here in Melbourne. I have promised a bit of a report on Chip's injury from a medical perspective (esp. to jayceebee31 via PM) and I promise I will get around to doing this asap. So now that I have publicly written this post I have no choice but to honour that commitment. I did promise to do it by last Sat, but other commitments got in the way. I will make a new promise to write something meaningful by midnight tomorrow (Wednesday). I guess I have 10-12 weeks :-P But I'll do it sooner than that.
  20. As we get closer to the game, maybe players should nominate a couple of positions they feel they would be best suited to playing. Obviously not everyone will get what they want, but at least I'll have an idea when selecting a starting 18. From that point on I guess well be able to tweak according to what we see on match day.
  21. 1) Was still at AAMI stadium watching over old replays to help tweak the gameplan. 2) Helpers are exempt. Smoking is absolutely banned but of course all demonlanders already have the intelligence to have heeded the public health messages that have been coming out for years. Also, anyone doing bench press, make sure you don't rip any tendons off the bone.
  22. Definitely today 1pm. Posted on facebook by the club.
  23. We're less than a month away from this big game and I'll be expecting the skinfolds to be well down come game day. Anyone who returns from the off-season out of shape will be disciplined severely by the coach!!! I'm serious about this boys. Lay off the turtles completely for the next few weeks!!!!
  24. With respect to Morton's footskills, I think he is harshly criticized in this area. Most of his misses by foot are when he tries dinky little ones or just makes the wrong decision. I think he seems to lack a bit of confidence to take the first or best option and tries to play safe. He has a good kicking technique and, when he uses his instnct and natural vision, he actually can hit some lovely creative passes with good accuracy and finesse. I recall in his first or second game that he put a beautiful soft ball around the corner with excellent vision and poise for a youngster. That was early on when he was young and brash and hungry to just get out there and play AFL footy. He has since picked up a few gremlins in his mind, but from what I have seen thus far I think as he becomes more assured in his own ability and body he will start to make better decisions and hit his kicks with more authority and precision.
  25. That is a lot of Jacks. Nearly 15% of our list!!! We're like a car really. We had a bit of a flat tyre that we couldn't repair for a few years. All we needed was a few jacks to help raise us up and get the wheels turning again.
