Dylan must be either sick or injured but I have been at all of the games he has played in the Coburg 2nds this year and don't recall him hurting himself in any of these. Could be something he did at training or a management issue. But I don't think he played last week either. Can't remember seeing him out there. Actually 99% sure he didn't, but stand to be corrected. Anyway, for those who are interested, Dylan Grimes has been developing nicely in the Coburg 2nds. Is tallish but not a KPD size. Still a bit thin to make the transition up to VFL 1sts and not showing enough quite yet, but has a bit of potential. Certainly not near the ability of his older brother, but is a different type of footballer. Not flashy, but will do a job. I'd say he's a less than 50-50 chance of making AFL level, but he is a really good kid and looks like he works hard. Very quiet though and certainly still looks like he doesn't think he belongs yet.

Yeah seems to be the forgotten man this week. No-one has really mentioned much about why he isn't selected in either the Casey or demons side. Interesting one. Anyone? It's a big shame for the boy, because he was showing some good run and composure in the AFL. May have to return back through the VFL considering Morton's imminent return and the healthy competition for spots at the moment.

Regarding Blease, it doesn't really bother me how long he takes to crack the Casey 1's. Remember, he hasn't played a game since year 11 in the TAC cup. He just finished year 12 and has had a very limited pre-season. His body is just getting used to playing footy again and to do it against men in the ones may be a bit too difficult at the moment. Also, I wouldn't count our chickens before they hatch against the Tigers this weekend. The Burgers are 1-3 and struggling just a bit, but they have been within a couple of goals in each of their losses so far. This includes a norrow loss against last year's premiers North Ballarat in round 1 where the Burgers were leading comfortably by 5 goals at half time only to give away their ascendency and lose it by just over a goal. And last weekend against a good quality Sandringham side they went down in a fighting performance by 8 points. They also beat one of the flag fancies in Box Hill on Anzac weekend (with Phil Cleary clearly showing how badly he has lost his marbles at the end of the game during the presentation ceremony). The only game in which they were very poor was against Frankston in round 2, losing by 4 points (but coming back from 8 goals down 5 mins into the 3rd qtr to take the lead briefly 10 mins into the last qtr). Interestingly, this was the weekend that featured Cousins and his gang of banned merry men following the infamous Connors incident, as well as other players with AFL experience such as Nahas, Relton Roberts, Jake King et al. It didn't help Coburg that day to have a number of stars in the team against a stand-alone VFL side who were apparently going to struggle to beat ANY side all year. Sometimes having a star-studded team counts for little and in fact can hurt team performance as these players often haven't played together with the VFL and junior AFL players. Personally I'm really looking forward to this game. Casey is a great place to watch footy and I don't usually get the chance to go there to watch our developing players. Also, last time I saw Coburg vs Casey was the VFL debut of one Jack Watts last year when he kicked that superb floater of a goal turning without hesitation onto his left foot near the boundary (and kicked 3 goals for the day). I'll keep an eye on all our boys and try to give a report if possible. I'm sure there will be many other Demonlanders there as well and I'd encourage everyone to turn up and experience some great VFL footy. The form of Cale Morton will be my prime concern, and looking forward to see if he shows that he will return to the senior side sooner rather than later. Also excited to see Wonna and Cheney.

Medical imaging - x-ray, CT scan, ultrasound, MRI etc. It would be part of the Olympic Park Sports Medicine Center, which will move from just down the road. Very useful for our players to have access to this medical imaging department for scans.

I can't see Petterd playing on for the rest of the year. I would send him in for an operation. It's too risky to keep going when it's popping out so frequently. Sad news, but gives someone else an opportunity. I just hope that someone is NOT Miller. I really think he's done as a Demons forward. Has had ample opportunity and still can't kick bags of goals or hit targets going forward as the link man. Bate does this job better. I'd even go Newton ahead of Miller. But of course, like most here, I'd love Watts to be given the chance. However if they are scared to play him as a KPP in the VFL, no way they will plonk him at FF or CHF in the AFL. AND, it would be nice if he showed a bit of form before selection.

It has to be an injury. But I don't see how we need an extra tall. Warnock, Frawley, Garland and MacDonald can play tall down back, as can Martin if needed and Bruce. Weird. Maybe they didn't expect the McKenzie injury and Rivers might have been the only one left here who didn't fly to QLD and they had no choice.

It's a good thought Inner, but wouldn't I need his membership card?

You won't be disappointed Mr. Tony Daza "The Boss". Great show that. My brothers and I have been sitting in those Trident reserved seats for a number of years now. They're quality!!! We started off in the Redlegs and then decided to move further around closer to the wing in the Trident area. You'll have your own reserved seat which will be the same every week. If you feel lonely (trust me you won't... the whole section is Dees fans only for bays and bays), I'll be the nutcase screaming and carrying on in bay N13 row C seat 4. Usually I'm in my Dees jumper and a white long sleeve top underneath (or if it's cold a FUBU demons jumper). I'm pretty embarrassing as I don't get to go to every game ( due to other footy committments, not lack of want!!!)so I have a lot of energy and frustration to release. My brothers sometimes cringe at the way I lose it when we're on fire. But that's what footy is about... passion and getting a chance to show your love for your team. And the best place to do so is in the middle of your own supporters where there is no chance you'll offend anyone with over-exuberant support (unless you swear too much around young kids... don't do that!!!). Hope to see you there mate. Great decision to sign up to a reserved seat membersihp and we're looking forward to having you on board. Next year you'll be raving about it so much that you'll have 3 mates desperate to buy the seats next to you.

Really? That's not very good. Opposition clubs always sell memberships at our home games. Why would we not have 2 or 3 tents around the ground? I'm sure many people who haven't been to a game yet or hadn't made up their mind will be expecting to be able to buy a membership at the game this week. Would be a shame if they couldn't. For example, I know my mate (who I mentioned earlier) won't be at the game next Friday night and despite the fact that it's not hard to do it online, he definitely won't pay for the MCC-MFC membership/donation unless I'm physically there with him and directing him to the tent. So unless there is a tent there tomorrow, he will most likely not pay his $50 or be counted in our tally this year. It's all about making it as easy as possible as many people as possible (not the bulk of US on this site of course, but for the "swinging voter").

Demons supporters.. On average a more educated supporter
pringle replied to Retrospective's topic in Melbourne Demons
Could be due to a number of factors. For example, I have quite a few demons in the team and they are scoring pretty well. But also, that average score is pretty average. There must be some people really pulling averages down across all clubs. My league averages about 1900 odd. -
Excellent progress. Only a few hundred away from last year's tally and if comparisons can be made, 1500 more members joined up from this point until close of trade in 2009. That means we should be on target for at least 32,500+. If we win this weekend, who knows how many pumped fans will turn up to a big Friday night clash against the Bullies and decide to sign up on the night. Also, been trying to convince a bandwagon mate to join up. He's an MCC member who has refused to watch us for the last 3 years and instead spends many a weekend at the snow. He even used to drive a Volvo and a Range Rover at different points in his life. Can he get his MCC-MFC affiliate membership from the regular membership tent at Etihad stadium (a stadium he is actually scared to go to) or does he need to wait until a game at the MCG? I'm sure he can get it at the tent, but just checking as he'll [censored] and moan if I send him on a wild goose chase.

So we have 10,000 MCC/MFC members. Despite the fact that it is good for the club to have these people on board to begin with rather than not committed at all, doesn't it also mean that we start waaaaay back financially in terms of actual income from membership? 20,000 members are fully paid up for this year so far and 10,000 MCC affiliate members. That is compared with 40,000 fully paid up members at other clubs. If the cost of an MCC afiliate membership is $50, and the average club membership is about $150+, does this mean that we are currently really only sitting on a membership of about 23,000-24,000 in monetary terms? That would make North Melbourne's income from membership greater than ours. Am I reading this wrong? Doesn't sound as rosy to me. We need to attract way more non-MCC members. Not saying it isn't great to be getting these people on board, just that maybe they aren't going to be the financial saviours of the club.

Poor career move... unless he decides he's not just choosing cricket, but also choosing to move to NSW to accept his baggy green in a brown paper bag along with his baggy light blue on debut. Everyone knows a Victorian has no hope making it into the Australian team!!!!

Don't think we can make top 4, but I don't see why we necessarily will have a late season fade-out. Our core of really god players so far this year have a decent amount of experience behind them now. Moloney, Green, McDonald, MacDonald, Jones, Bate, Sylvia, Bruce, Warnock, Frawley, Dunn et al. are not 19 or 20 anymore. And I wouldn't expect the likes of Petterd, Grimes, Garland to fall off too much. Those who may have some quiet weeks later in the season are not our most important (Scully, Trengove, Bennell, etc). So I think we have a good chance of maintaining some consistency up to round 22. If we do, top 8 is a strong possibility. Top 4 is just asking too much considering the seasoned teams such as the Pies, Bullies, Cats etc ahead of us.

It's late and can't sleep, so I'll have a crack: Mark Jamar - Hercules, Optimus Prime Cameron Bruce-Wayne Jordie McKenzie - Danger Mouse or Mighty Mouse James McDonald - Captain Planet Jake Spencer - Elongated Man Brent Moloney - He Man Matthew Bate - Chuck Norris, Blaze or Captain Carrot Jack Trengove - Neo Jack Watts - The Six Million Dollar Man Robert Walls - Captain Obvious

So what happens if/when the injured player he replaced returns from the LTI? I think I remember something about being able to elevate one rookie mid-season regardless of injuries??? Is that still the case? Or was it ever the case? And one thing I'm not 100% on in terms of LTI rookie elevations. Is it one for one? For example, if Jordie was elevated for Jurrah and Newton for Tapscott (not sure if that happened, but let's say it did), then would Jordie go back onto the rookie list when Jurrah returned and Newton when Tapscott returned? Or would it just be whoever we choose to keep as each player returned?
-
Surely the newest figure is wrong??? After the Tigers game there must have been more than 300 people who signed up over the entire week and at the game???
-
I still don't really know what the writer was trying to say in that piece. The end of that article didn't seem to match the beginning (or middle). Bizarre!!!

No chance 8-10,000 Brisbane fans. You were at another game I think. There were max 3-5000 Brisbane fans. If 6000 were international students and 10,000 were Brisbane, there would only have been 20,000 Dees fans. We outnumbered them by waaaaaaaaay more than 2:1 last night. On the train in to the G, I noticed a sea of Melbourne fans flocking to the game. I go on the same train about the same amount of time before every game and there are not usually that many Melbourne fans on the train. Not even close. I reckon next home game will be a massive turn-up if we beat the Roos.

Don't agree with your assessment of Martin. He was very good tonight and more than earned his spot. Did all that was asked of him. Contested the rucks well when Jamar rested and brought the ball to ground in the forward line for the smalls. A couple of times he was outnumbered up forward but refused to be beaten and locked the ball in.My brothers and I commented on how well he played more than once during the game. Solid performance I thought.

I don't know what to do with myself at the moment. I haven't been able to go to a game this year due to clashes with my other football commitments. Watching the games on tape is not the same. I am yet to see the two top draft picks from last year play live. I'M JUMPING OUT OF MY SKIN. It's all I can do to not jump on the train right now and get there ASAP!!!!I just hope we put up a good show. I believe we can win. I think some rain about helps. GO DEES!!! MASSIVE GAME!!!

He dislocated his shoulder, therefore he had a reconstruction to repair the damage. The reconstruction is not the injury, it's the operation. The dislocation WAS the injury Jurrah had. Bell did his AC joint.

It's about an hour's drive to Ballarat. Saturday 2pm, Eureka stadium. A nice day out and plenty of time to get back to the MCG for the big game. Some people have decided that Jack Watts is no good after watching him play 3 games of AFL football as a skinny schoolkid training part-time. Expert opinion.

Agree. I still smile when I think of where CJ is at now. The only part that saddens me is thinking of his poor father who served our club proudly and how embarrassed he must feel. Scotty is a different kettle of fish altogether and would be welcomed back to this club with no hard feelings.

Seems to be coming up weekly lately. See poll thread. It's already up here just a few topics below this one. Might as well continue the discussion there.
