  1. Not saying I agree with the AFLX focus but.... Increased world TV rights. Licence fees if it takes off in a country. Potential to uncover international AFLX talent that can translate to trial AFL as an international rookie. I would prefer they create AFLX and fiddle with rules for an international version there than attempt to refine the pure game into a farce that may suit.
  2. Yet you have included someone with no exposed AFL form nor even any pre-season guides to allude to... Sorry still a bit lost.
  3. You lost me as soon as you said it was on preseason form then included Hore for round 1 who is a recruit who has not even trained with the main group. How does this logic stand up?
  4. I am amazed that people are missing the number 1 point. They don't give a hoot how it goes here. That is why it is a mickey mouse event. They do care about showing it overseas and seeing if they can create interest for other countries to play it. There is no way AFL can break new markets for true participation. However AFLX with smaller grounds needed, less people per team, high speed, less contact.
  5. Agreed. Its a BS headline and has no relevance to what he says quoted in the article. I dont think Lewis is the type that would know how to prepare any other way.
  6. Disagree we already had Jones proven and Viney, Petracca and Brayshaw were all known for their want of contested ball and had just drafted Oliver for the same (granted no exposed AFL form at that time). In the next 2 years they will lose Kreuzer, Murphy, Simpson who would arguably be 3 of their best 5. Based on the team you have put up I see alot of outside ball and very little inside ball. Even with that I see a lot of limited players on exposed form.
  7. Cripps aside, who is going to and get the ball? Cripps, Docherty and possibly Curnow aside who are the definite A grade talent based on exposed potential? A lot of what if there.
  8. Disagree. We need a stay at home defender/primary stopper that is defence first not intercept/counter attack first. This is Oscar. He was quality for most of the year. Will have further improved his strength and endurance and will have the further support of May and Lever. If he maintains even his form of last year he will play all season.
  9. May and Oscar play nothing alike. May and Frost is a much closer comparison in attributes, may though has an abounds of footy nous to go with his strength and speed.
  10. Whilst Casey's form has been good I have not enjoyed watching them as much as most of the players I have had good view of and in most cases had plateaud. Its exciting to me that there will be a lot of young kids to watch develop this year to complement the quality mature depth across ours and Casey's list.
  11. I love how Frost appears to have not only become a better defender already over the preseason but for some has also developed the tools to play wing as well as forward swingman. Unless Lever gets up for round 1 Frost will get his chance but O-Mac will clearly be the stay at home back man to complement the attack and intercept of May and Lever.
  12. Saty, apologies if this has been covered in another thread but do you know which line group Hunt will be training with?
  13. Left footed small forward who tested with good vertical jump results at SA combine.
  14. small forward 173cm and attended the SA combine I believe. Had the 2nd best running vertical jump at the combines at 93cm. 10th best standing vertical at 73cm. NB another leftie.
  15. We could also choose not to take him at all?
  16. Have I looked at different highlights footage on Turner or is this based on seeing him live and in full? The package on the draft machine shows him have 9 kicks, all effective with three of them goals on the run? Aside from this some good clearing handballs to connect and some serious dash? What am I missing?
  17. Based on watching nothing more than highlights and what I think is realistic based on our selections my preferred 4 picks would be OHalloran, Bytel, one of Turner/McKenzie and Bedford. Assuming no long term back concerns our list and development support allows us to give Bytel the time to get himself right and risk a boom or bust pick. My view is Walsh aside his video highlights show the next best rounded midfield attributes.
  18. Completely agree the two day draft really helps us pause and rethink all possibilities with 23 and 28. Even more so gives me confidence that whoever Taylor chooses will be the right picks.
  19. Buckenara's top 30 in order in the Herald Sun has Valente at 23 and Bytel at 28. Granted it does not take into account club need, academy or F/S concessions but has Williams (10), O'Halloran (22), Duursma (13) gone before 23 but the rest you mention still on the board at that point. Based on this being the order interested in which combo you take at the two picks. https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/gary-buckenara-names-his-top-30-draft-prospects-ahead-of-what-has-been-labelled-the-next-super-draft/news-story/3e632480d76f92ab844973d18586c028
  20. My assumptive best 22 is as follows Back: Jetta: May: Hibberd HB: Salem: O-Mac: Lever Cen: Kola: Oliver: Harmes HF: Trac: Weid: ANB For: Spargo: T-Mac: Melk Ruck: Gawn: Brayshaw: Viney I/C: Lewis: AVB: Jones: Fritsch: This leave us with: key back depth both proven in Frost and emerging in Petty and Keilty. small to mid backs in Hunt , Smith and Wagner with potential to swing around Lewis, Fritsch or Kolo as required. Key forward leaves us a bit light with T.Smith but the flexibility to play the extra ruck or a smaller one tall forward line with Trac or Melksham as the second. I suspect there is a chance that J Smith also is trialled forward. A back up ruck position better than last year. Strong Small forward cover in Garlett and Hannan, Midfield depth we really only have Stretch , JKH and the untried Maynard and Baker but we have plenty of flex in our half backs and forwards to play midfield minutes and suspect we will draft more in this space. Our depth knowing we have 8ish spots to fill allows us to swing wide for best available talent from a mid to long view without trying to fix for the short term.
  21. Based on highlights package there are those that statements say have pace and then there is Fraser Turner whose footage actually shows some serious toe.
  22. What is this potential upside that Menzel has? He was on a one year contract this year with Geelong and still didn't learn that defensive pressure is a non negotiable. You either accept what he brings (goal nouse no tackles) or you let him through to the keeper.
  23. Him and Sheridan at least are mature players that have some of what we lack in outside speed and carry. Truthfully though I would prefer to draft Wagner and Hind from the VFL late.
  24. He's a tease at the minute. I suspect there would have been some stern words as to where he needs to get to next year and what shape he needs to come back in. I believe Fritsch, ANB and OMac scored better in the B&F from a points per games played view. Needs to own accelerating his improvement or be left in the dust of Oliver, Brayshaw and Harmes.
  25. Not being in the leadership group doesnt mean you are not a leader around the club it just removes the formalities and the official functions and effort it takes. Neither Lewis of Jones should be in it as their number 1 priority for the team should be to focus on their individual performance. May needs to earn his leadership stripes with his new new peers. Jetta I feel is a natural leader but the tag is not important and I would prefer him to work in the background as well as continue all the marvellous work he does outside of the club. Viney captain, supported by Gawn, Lever, T-Mac is enough from an official capacity for mine.
