  1. Maybe because there are 14 other players in the team. Numbers can be deceiving, keen to see bests.
  2. He is a talented second ruck but this is not the game for it. He posed problems forward yesterday buts its direct affect on the scoreboard was a rushed behind and a point to Bail. We will be playing the fittest side in the comp in trying conditions and they are lightening quick across the ground. Jamar to ruck as much as possible Pederson to relieve and take the extra runner. Its not as cut and dry as that though and the selection committee certainly have some headaches next match.
  3. Gawn was good but you need to match Port for run and they only play one true ruckman, Chip must come in if fit. Jetta possibly also required for their mid sized forwards. Also playing the fittest side in the comp in my opinion so who is the least likely to be able to run out a full game if required of Salem and Riley should miss. Assuming Dawes not outed: In: Frawley, Jetta Out: Gawn, Salem
  4. I like Grimes, I have a jumper with his number on the back even but I thought yesterday he was the weakest link in our side. Made some appalling errors in both skill and decision making, has no awareness to tag a player, is courageous but lacks any body strength to break or hold a tackle.
  5. We ran hard and hit hard all game. Players are starting to have trust in each other that they will win the contest which is meaning players are making quicker decisions. People that argue the Tyson deal are kidding, I would argue Tyson for pick 2 on its own is still a clear win. Just because it hasn't been mentioned, T-Mac did a cracking job on Riewoldt.
  6. 6. N Jones 5. Tyson 4. Howe 3. Watts 2. Viney 1. Pederson
  7. Interested to see the impact of the bye today. Last year teams coming of the bye started the next week slowly. Playing Richmond is all about stopping the momentum of Richmond's long list of front running B Graders. Hit them hard early and dont give them easy ball on the outside and your half way there. Best of luck to Riley today, really keen to see what he brings to the team as I have not seen him play at any level.
  8. Clisby's turn for mystery injury of the week.
  9. Good to see Harmes and Kent back
  10. I would think Pederson will go back. Dunn forward and Gawn to play deep forward/relief ruck. I have not seen Riley at all, really looking forward to it.
  11. This is the second week that Allison has made comments about Strauss being a lot better than what he is producing. I get the feeling he has untapped potential that they are trying to work out how to get to. Granted if he doesn't soon he will not be there next year.
  12. I would do the same yet the way Hinkley and Leppich as examples implement coaching a new group is different to each other based on the overall style they are trying to implement. You can see alot of Roo's style with what he is implementing.
  13. I feel those that keep calling for Bail to be dropped don't really understand the brand of footy Roos is trying to instill.
  14. I dont think this is about whether Grimes did a good job. This is more about did we lose more not having him patrolling half back than we gained having him tag Griffen. Cross should have gone to Griffen instead of Macrae. Grimes should have played his customary role. Macrae is a good link man but did not require a tag and if so Bail could have gone to him if he cut loose. Also agree with a previous comment as to when the game was there to be won in the first 10 minutes of the last why Jones was playing forward rather than in the pivot.
  15. When will people realise there is no longer an attitude of shifting the deck chairs on a weekly basis. Unless you are not attempting to play your role or unless someone consistently smashes it at Casey there will not be changes. Calls for Blease who has had one week of getting some decent ball in or Bail to be dropped who is running his guts out and has one of our highest tackle counts is laughable. The only two I would expect that will be considered will be Riley or Clisby who have put multiple weeks of good form together but truthfully I expect no change.
  16. We were beaten by a team tonight who stuck their tackles, were cleaner out of the pack and took their chances. Our overall improvement is obvious though. Aside from West Coast I thought tonight was the only time our defensive six have been beaten this year.Tyson's current output is way beyond my expectations, he was stellar this evening. Unsure why they moved Grimes out of defence this week or why we allowed Jones to play deep forward so often. Next week Byrnes out for another true mid in the rotation and subject to Terlich being ok I would leave it at that for next week.
  17. 6 Tyson 5 Jamar 4 Cross 3 Howe 2 Viney 1 Bail
  18. I expect with the way Blease plays if he can get the ball 30 times you are going to have to concede he will seriously burn a couple.
  19. Goals: Smith 5, Tapscott 2, Rosier, Michie, Hunt Possessions: McKenzie 32, Blease 30, Riley 27, Michie 23, Nicholson 23, Evans 21, Tapscott 20, Toumpas 20, Rosier 15
  20. Yet we are leaking 10 goals less a game?
  21. $100 just paid. Embarrassed that I haven't done this until now. Wouldn't know what to do without this site.
  22. What is it with Casey constantly giving up strong leads.
  23. Anyone that thinks the way Viney attacks the ball is the minimum expectations needs to talk to the 98% of players that don't do it. This is no disrespect to those players as they do what is required and put their body on the line as our great game expects. There are however few players that attack the contest with the manic disregard and want for body contact that young Jack does. He is a rare diamond.
  24. Whilst I agree that Bomber is an excellent coach and leader of men, the style of game Roos and Bomber play are poles apart. To mentor and transition a developing coach with Roos was the idea not get an experienced gun who then hands to an experienced gun. I would also think more heavily leans to Roos only staying for two years which is not the desired outcome. I am open to Ratten being the handover as his job at Carlton with a crap list has been seriously under rated and he will be better second time around and outside of the Blues environment. Still I still prefer the idea of Ling or Kirk as I think they more instill the values that Roos is trying to embed and are both young proven leaders of men.
