A TO-DO between feisty Labor MP Kirstie Marshall and a cabbie outside Crown money bin last Friday has not passed unnoticed among Melbourne Demons fans, who recall the parliamentary breastfeeder's cracks at their gallant, albeit temporarily errant, captain David Neitz after he wrangled with a cabbie at the same venue in 2003.

Back then Marshall barked: "To me it means you need serious help . . . get a therapist."

Yesterday her office told The Age that "an incident" occurred on Friday and that Marshall had filed a complaint. However, a radio report hinted that the blame was not entirely one-sided. Quipped one prominent Dee-boy: "If a therapist can help sort this out I'd be happy to recommend one."

Hasn't seen this yet today but that's hilarious.

Didn't she say Neitz should have been sacked or at least sacked as Captain at the time?

Maybe she should resign from Parliament.

Here we go, she suggested: "The sponsors should be jumping up and down and saying this is not on...without a doubt they should walk away".

Wow, now Kirstie, aside from being a former sportsperson seeking a new source of income by defrauding an electorate of a genuine representative (and she's not the first nor the last sportsperson on either side of politics to be handed this opportunity on a platter - who could forget Mal Meninga's legendary 27 second political career?), it would be entirely hypocritical to not offer her resignation to the Parliament.

I hope the media give it the sort of coverage they gave Neitz in 2003. After all, if he is to be held up to a higher standard because he is a footballer, surely she should be held to equal or higher standing as she is a democratically elected member of Parliament.

Agree, but she won't and it'll get swept under the table by her party's publicity dept.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
