Cam Bruce and Robertson

Cam Bruce was the given the job of blanketing the Dogs best player, Brad Johnson, and he did it very well! Johnson did not get a touch all day until Bailey decided to put Bell on him and free Bruce up the ground. Bruce was ordinary once given a license to play creatively, but so was the whole team.

He beat his opponent on the day, which is much more than can be said for the rest of them.

In particular Robertson. He should be providing the team with examples to follow, chasing hard all day, putting pressure on the defenders. Today he chased ONCE, late in the game on the wing. Every other time he lost possession of the ball, he sulked. Its all well and good to get kicks further up the ground, but when you don't have the ball you need to be defensive. Its just not a part of his game, and he needs to develop it.

Robertson hasn't got much delivery coming in. Robertson can't chase because by the time he lands or gets back on his feet his opposition are ten meters ahead. Robertson needs to stay on his feet before he can chase. Robbos just a Mark of the Year try hard.

The worst thing Robertson did today in my opinion was kick a goal in the pocket instead of passing the ball to morton free in a better position 40 m out from goal. Morton did everything well to get the ball to Robbo in the first place - ran to create space - pleaded for the ball and was ignored. I just hope Morton does not thing this is how he needs to play (ie. like Robbo). Sure Robbo kicked the goal but how rewarding and motivational would it have been for the young bloke. Remember RObbo - it is about the team.

FTR - I like Robbo and he does try his guts out each week. I just think he has become considerably more selfish.

Remember RObbo - it is about the team. .......

I just think he has become considerably more selfish.

Unfortunately these two statements have come to sum up Robbo's play in recent years.

Don't think you've read that right & I had a good view. Morton's work was terrific in getting the ball to Robertson but then he stopped. You could see Robertson looking to Morton & I reckon he wanted to pass the ball off to him but the kid was static (then again, passing or handballing to a static team-mate often seemed the orger of the day). Had Cale moved 7 or 8 metres towards goal the pass was on. By the time he did, a Bulldog had moved up from the goalsquare, effectively covering him.

I was happy enough with Robertson's work-rate in the first half. Pisses me off when he flies against Neitz though - he should be front & square. Our whole forward structure pisses me off in fact & has for years. I'll save that rant for another time.

I disagree. Morton ran to where the space was, and Robbo either took too long to see him or refused to pass it. If Morton had run on any further he would have been getting too close to Dogs defenders, and the kick would've also been much harder, as it would have had to be angled over the man on the mark.

Yeah, I must admit I was happy to see Robbo dragged.

I'd even be comfortable to see him dropped.

There seems to be a mentality that when the club needs a hero what the players should do is try to play the 'most important' positions - ie Newton, Robbo and Neitz all trying to be FF at the same time, Davey and Green being midfielders when they should be FP and HF.

Someone needs to point out that what's needed is people who will play THEIR ASSIGNED ROLE IN THE GAMEPLAN and do it well.

I've loved Robbo over the years, but now I'm a little uncomfortable that he has a two year contract.

Was happy to see him dragged too. Who continually flies for screamers in the rain? He was struggling to hold the ball on a lead let alone the air. I was sorta happy to see his determined fist pumping after kicking a nice goal in the 2nd tho i think it was more self congratulation.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
