Name A Game

After visiting bigfooty (unbearable boredom at work) and seeing Collingwood scumbag supporters claiming Daisey Thomas' scissor kick goal as the best goal ever, I couldn't help but purchase round 20, 1991 Melbourne v North Melbourne off the "name a game" website, to prove to every scum supporter I know Daiesey's was not the best goal ever, not even the best scissor kick goal ever. Unfortunately, the dicsc doesn't work well in my dvd player. I get to spots where it repeats, long stationary moments and other problems . Have other people had this problem with "name a game" dvd's?

If I do eventually get it working, I'll try with my limited computer skills to upload 13 goals 8 worth of highligts onto youtube.

Good Luck with getting this working

I was @ the game & trust me it is worth seeing

Jacko made Mickey Martin look stupid for 4 1/4's.

Best game ever from a Demon Forward I have witnessed.

Even more exciting than Garry Lyons 10 goal haul in a final.

Wow

If you can do that you would become the most important person in internet history. I seriously would worship you.

Jakovich is an enigma. The world needs to know abut him. The [censored] of BigFooty, who have no idea how amazing he was, will have their minds blown

Please do it!

Yeah, I;ve had a couple of problems with name game DVD's. The master tapes they record from aren't always in the best shape when they re-master them. Especially with the older games. I was also miffed that they don't have the Eagles game where Jako plants a big one on his brother's cheek after kicking six (was that '93?). It was the first footy game I went to, and I've been hooked on the Dee's since!

The Name a Game DVDs are DVD-R format, if your player is older there may be compatibility issues. Rather, given the one-off nature of your purchase, I'd reckon on a crook transcode from the original VHS. Give them a call after trying the disc on your computer and another stand-alone player. What you should be getting for your dough is a Dual Layer DVD-ROM, just like any other movie disk, but they apparently insist on this false economy.

Coincidently this week I have been watching 2 games from 1993 in which the great man starred.

In the space of 5 days he kicked 17.8 goals

Monday Queens Birthday - Round 11 against Collingwood he kicked 9.2

Saturday - Round 12 against Essendon he kicked 8.6

He is undoubtedly one the most gifted footballers that ever walked the planet.

It’s a shame his career was cut short by a back injury

I’ll try and place his highlights on Youtube.

Anyone who puts Jako highlights on youtube, i will love you FOREVER.

Same...as a young kid, alen jakovich is the reason i chose the demons and went against the dirty hawthorn trend in my family

Jackovick = Jakovich?

Jakovich was an enigma...

his debut season was something!! kicked over 100 goals when combining the magoos and 1's...

how about the game at waverley against the hawks in 94 i think... he kicked 2.6 and one of the goals was a blinder on the left from 40 metres on the boundary...

he could do the sublime, he could do the freakish and the team orientated play... we just did not get to see enough of the great man!!

the game against the pies still rates highly - the kick off the ground and lifting the jumper over the head....

very much a wasted talent but for those lucky enough to see him in full flight - JAAAAKOOOOOOOVIIIICH!!!

:o Jako was jokingly knick named the Pope becasue he would not pass the pill. He made Yze look like a team player.

Team orientated play was not part of Jako's forte. When he was hot he was white hot and a one man show! When he was not he was terrible.

He was an enigma. At his best one of the most gifted footballers that I have seen in MFC colours.

And his crap fitness regime and attitude.

Thanks for getting it on You Tube. Let us know when you have done it.

I didn't get to a 1993 pre-season game against Collingwood at Princes Park until the second quarter. Jako had already kicked four, been reported and done a hammy and I'd missed it all.

I was at that game-what a classic it was!!

Im in the same boat

Every time this thread is bumped i pray to god I PRAY that the video has been made :(

If this video is made I will seriously cream my pants multiple times.

LOL

Ditto

I got married the day before that game where Jako dominated against North(19/4/91). We went to the Whitsundays for our honeymoon.

Luckily for me, there were no suitable flights out on the Saturday. We stayed at a posh city hotel. At about 1.45pm, I said to my new wife...."mind if I pop down to the MCG to watch the Demons for an hour or two.?" "OK", she said, not realising what was in stall for her for the next(at least) 17 years.

Sat., 20th April 1991 was a beautiful day!!!I saw us kick our equal record score(equalling the score also kicked against North about 5 years earlier). I saw the first Melbourne player to kick double figure goals since Fred Fanning kicked 18 in round 18 1947.

It was bliss!!! It was nearly as good as round 22 1987!

Every description about this game makes me crave it! Arrgh i was to young to remember, please, youtube, PLEASE!

Awaiting YouTube highlights!!

I've called Name a Game and happen to work in the same suburb (Cremorne) as their distributing outlet, so they have agreed to order a new copy for me to come in and exchange for my dud copy. I'm expecting a call from them some time shortly after Easter.

I am pointing north

I was about 20 metres from Jackovich when he kicked that goal. It was great, and he went nuts...

Anyone remember the 3 consecutive 50 metre penalties he gave away at Waverly...

BUMP

I will never let this fall from the main page

The only thing that can make me happy after Sundays debacle is a few minutes of A.Jakovich highlights!!!

I have waited so long.

YouTube needs Jakka highlights!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
