WHY ISNT YZE FORWARD?

Featured Replies

Hey guys i havnt posted in ages but i am real concerned about Yze's role as a cheap sweeper across half back where his influence will have no effect on the result.....

surely peoples memories arent that bad i think start of 05 or 06 when we were red hot Yze was snagging 4 goals a game as our permanent forward pocket.... get him back to this position immediatly full time as it might just extend his career by a year or two and he can actually win us games up there as Neitz clearly can't do it all anymore.....

it seems such a simple solution to me......

Agree wholeheartedly.

Yze's career will go down the toilet extremely quickly unless Bailey puts him forward, which I'm not sure he'll do at the start of this season.

Yze played both back and deep forward today.

His foot skills were absolutely terrible.

I lost count how many times Yze turned over the ball with poor kicks under no pressure whatsoever.

Yze is finished IMO on todays performance.

Yze in the backline = goals against and his opponent running wild.

Yze forward could mean a few goals, but defiantly = his opponent rebounding plenty of football whilst Yze stands by and usually watched Davey chase his man.

Yze isn't forward because he has a very reserved personality. He prefers to keep things to himself than be 'in your face'.

People who are forward often get themsevles in trouble, or at the very least end up offending someone.

I hope I have answered your question demon_fanatic

I hope Bailey creates a mismatch and sticks him in the foward pocket in round 1 with Cambell Brown out. Hopefully he can snag 2 or 3 thats our only hope. On todays and all the other pre season games he's finished. His disposal (his only strength) has deserted him and he can't lay a tackle to save himself.

Yeah I think the rest of his career belongs up forward. He might only get 10 touches a game but if he kicks a couple of goals and frees Davey up the ground more he can be useful. Neitz Robertson Newton get the first three defenders, Yze will get the fourth or fifth defender - he could routinely make a meal of them.

Can we afford to play 4 forwards who lack defensive intensity? Neitz and Newton are physically incapable, whilst Yze and Robertson refuse to tackle and chase. If Neitz is to play FF, then either Robertson or Newton miss out.

Rather than Yze, I'd prefer to see Sylvia played as a forward pocket, with an occasional run in the midfield.

For the past two seasons he has been travelling around the S bend at a fair rate.

Haydo sums it up on this one.

Why isn't Yze forward?

Why isn't Yze gone is more to the point.

Enough sentimentality and 'oh wasn't he good' tripe.

It's about the team or we're treading water for another 44 years.

touche...touche touche !!!

Its all a big ploy where DB is playing people out of position for most of the game (or all of the game) so that we don't look like world beaters, but come round one look out, or maybe come round six we'll reveal our true skills or possibly round ten..............

It seems the oooozzzzz could be the new one to take over from ward and godfrey and BIG AL as the new one to be picked on here.

I suppose we have to have one or 2 or 3 etc etc.

Mate people have been picking on him for the last 2-4 YEARS and with very good reason.

Finished!

Indeed, why stop at three. Lately Holland, Miller, PJ, Yze, Green, CJ, Jamar, White, Neitz, Robbo, Bode and Warnock have all had their critics. Have I left anyone out? This group remains to be whittled down to a convenient hardcore as the respective seasonal performances unfold. Actually I see there's a natural hardcore set emerging from the Leadership Group.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
