Well in all the talk this week of some West Coast player...I think its Morton, or Judd or something. Look who ever he is people seem to think he is an ok player. But somehow everyone seems to have missed what is no doubt the biggest acquisition in football history. His name is John Meesen!

In his three years at the crows his stats are amazing. Let’s all take a look back...

In round 21 he set Football Park alight with what was touted as the best first game of the century. With an unprecedented 4 kicks 2 handballs and 2 of the best marks you will see, Meesen was a firm favourite for the Brownlow. Many say they heard Leigh Mathews scream "Jesus that the best kid I've ever seen...makes Vossy look like a 6 year old girl." The question was...would this goliath be able to do it again?

Well the simple answer is yes! In his next week with a 1 kick 1 handball 3 hitout match against the Bulldogs he became the premier ruckman of the comp. He set up the victory with what some people called, "Magic like abilities." Many say they saw shades of Polly Farmer…most say they saw so much better.

It was then found out that this man could not only play but could draw as well. People around the Facebook community simply couldn’t believe their eyes at Meesen’s stunning drawings of Penis’s with arms. Worthy of Da Vinci praise this boy has many talents

And now my good Demon friends...THE CROW HAS LANDED! Does this mean a premiership this year...Yes! Does it mean another 5 after that...Yes! So lets all sing the song. It’s a grand old flag....

I seem to remember Colin Sylvia getting 1 handball in his first match.

Why thank you Magic. In all the madness of Trade week and good old TJ leaving it was time we had some fun! If I took the cake then I'll wear that with pride.

I say spot on!

In five years, we will be saying things like "Wow, Judd's best years really were behind him", and "who'd have thought at the time that Meesen was the biggest name traded in the 2007 period", and probably "Two flags, four All Australians and a Brownlow - is John Meesen the best player of his generation?"

I liked it.

Thought it was funny & a good way of summing up our trade week.

Bender's just taking the [censored] - Try to find the lighter side fella's..........

Call me stupid of you like, but my ultimate trade week would have seen us land Judd, not meeson.

It sure was light on.

Crying over Judd still, and TJ, awww.

They've moved on, we should to.

If the jumper isn't enough to barrack for, then what about the blokes wearing 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 29, 32, 34, 36, 45.

Exciting numbers those.

I seem to remember Colin Sylvia getting 1 handball in his first match.

Yep, I remember that game.

He jogged on across open space to join the game on the wing, where the ball came within twenty seconds of him arriving.

He was caught flat-footed and was second to the contest.

Then made up for it by laying a crunching tackle and reclaiming the ball.

which, under pressure, he handpassed to nowhere in particular, for it to be scooped up by on opponent.

Not long after he was benched and I'm honestly not sure he got more than 20 mins game time.

So he didn't have a great first game, but it's also another one of those stories we can think back on how Daniher kept giving young guys only half a chance, and reassure ourselves that the club maed the right decision.

Getting back to the original thread here, can we not pretend the club was placing any more importance on this deal than they did? An interesting ruck prospect with great endurance and not at bottom age, for pick 37. A good trade, a useful piece of list-balancing, and cheap as chips.

the master has spoken !!:lol:

quickly add...some have no sense of humour here either ..lol

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
