Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why trade Robbo?

Trading Robbo is a stupid idea.

All we need it for Neitz to miss games next year- then we'll have the most impotent forward line in the AFL. Unfortunetly Miller's 8 goals a year won't make up for Robbo's loss.

-------------------------------------------------

EDIT -Understand why the club would say no to 3 years though. Hopefully they'll come to a compromise ie- 2 year contract with higher salary.

we will be fine without Robbo. he is 29 and will be gone in 2 years anyways. he isnt our future and has deteriorating knees.

even if Neitz misses games we have players who can kick goals.

Newton, Bate, Davey and Yze are genuine goal-kicking forwards.

i think next year we should play green as a forward more, and also Bruce.

Dunn can also play forward.

we have options, though another key forward to help replace Neitz is necessary.

if we trade for another top10 pick, we could pick up a Henderson type which will leave us in good stead up forward post Neitz.

I like Robbo, and would prefer to see him play out his career with the Dees.......but under the clubs terms.....not his.

3 years is too much, and he won't accept 2 them he leaves himself open to a trade.

We are not unique in offering older players less years, and even a player as good as Crawford has been playing on 1 year deals for the past few seasons.

This bloke bleeds blue and red, why trade him.

Replace bleeds red and blue with wins premierships and I'd agree.

That would be like trading Flower, Viney, Lyon or Neitz.

Its not right....

All of those mentioned were infinitely better players than Robbo and I'd've traded any to win a premiership.

All this stuff about bleeding red and blue is complete garbage...

Players who bleed for their club are team players - Trevor Barker bled for St.Kilda he didn't whinge to the media about contractual matters in fact quite the opposite.

I'm not expecting Robbo to be Trevor Barker in any facet but don't paint him to be some kind of martyr he's not - he's a handy footballer - no more, no less and he certainly isn't indispensible.

if we got a couple of picks for Robbo id do it in a second.

he's not our future.

we need to start filling the holes in our list- ruckman to replace White, forward to replace Neitz, midfielder with pace, forward pocket.

the only way to fill those holes is by getting a few good draft picks.

if we have to trade a 29 year old who wont accept a 2-yr deal to achieve this, then so be it!

be ruthless bailey. we support the jumper, not the player. selfish players who want 3 yr deals when they are old with bunged knees can get farked.

If we can improve our list, and Robertson can find three years somewhere else, it's probably a win/win.

I don't think we're legit flag chances in the next couple of years anyway, so losing Robertson for some short-term pain is justifiable if it brings with it some chance of gain in the longer term.

It's silly not to try and get as many years out of AFL footy as possible when it's your job. I imagine that after their football careers are over, a very high percentage of players will never make anywhere near the money that they were on when playing AFL.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
