BT, Mike Sheahan and Jason Dunstall on Foxtel said Chris Judd to the Demons and part of the deal is James Frawley to Saints for Pick 9.

Didn't hear the start of it - did anyone else?

I'm happy with the Judd to Melbourne bit, but Frawley is one player I really don't want to lose.

I hope Bailey has another young defender up his sleeve that he's looking to poach or draft, because Frawley will be a gem.

This from a BigFooty West Coast supporter -

That would be the greatest deal on the planet, but it seems unlikely.

Everything else sounds pretty common sense.

I just saw it, folks. It was much as reported by Hutchy. Basically, that Frawley will go to the Saints for their first pick, and that Judd to Melbourne is virtually a done deal. I am highly excited. Naturally, there were the thoughtless, numb-nutted comments from those peasants about Melbourne's facilities: "Boo, hoo. Melbourne doesn't have good facilities - why would he go there?" Do some research you brainless maggots. We'll have those facilities this time next year.

Our first pick this year, our first pick from last year and our second round pick... I think that's very fair.... if that's the deal I'm stoked. I reckon there'll still be a number of players that will be traded to get us back into the draft and or for some up and coming players.

I reckon Frawley will be a very good player... but if we can pick up a Rance/Collier/Henderson/McEvoy by getting back into the first round... all we've really done is miss out on 12 months development... and we've got Judd.... OH HAPPY DAYS.

It will take more than Frawley to get pick 9, don't be supprised if our second pick will go to St Kilda as well.

Im not getting over excited cos its not certain yet, and I dont wanna become suicidal

However, if we gain Judd without losing Davey, Sylvia, Travis, Bruce, Brock, Bate, Dunn, Jones, Rivers, Bell, Newton and Green then lock in the Demons for the 2008 flag

Why? Frawley was pick 12 in a draft rated stronger than this years, with 12 months of development at AFL level under his belt.

If St.Kilda were looking to take a key defender with pick 9, this deal would be ideal for them.

Can't see why that would be, he was 12th pick in the "super draft" last year.

Well our 2nd pick is part of the Judd deal. Possibly a downgrade of our 3rd to a 4th round pick if anything. Don't underestimate the sentimental pulling power of Frawley to Saints; particularly for a club that is having trouble at the moment, and also is very big on it's club heroes.

I was about to post exactly that. You saved me the trouble!

I hope it is that easy Frawley for pick 9, but I can't see it although you would think St Kilda would rather see Judd go to us than the other three teams in the hunt.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

Is anybody else's head about to explode?????!!!????!?!???

It's not like St. Kilda is doing us a favour here. They're getting a gun backman for the next 12 years. Much better than a speculative 9th pick. Obviously great for us if it lands us Judd though!

yes, if it happens its the best thing thats happened to this club in 43 years

Absolutely. I don't know how I'm going to cope with being relevant again

Geez - Demonology took their time to melt down ... I was waiting and waiting and now it's ****ed :)

Will Before The Game spill anything?

It might turn out getting Bailey was the best thing.. as he might have got Judd :)

How funny is it? You know when something big is going down, because inevitably so is Demonology

Don't get me wrong, I so keen to get Judd i'd probably put my grannie up for sale...BUT...do you reckon we should be trading a kid who is potentially a 12 year player and the cornerstone of our defence for years to come?? There's got be some other way to get Judd to the dees

I can't believe people would be upset to lose Frawley over this - I was prepared to lose anyone and I thought we would have to lose one or more of:

McLean

Jones

Bate

Bell

Dunn

Newton

Rivers

Bruce

Green

Sylvia

Johnstone

Davey

Robertson

In all honesty I rate Frawley's value below ALL of them and agree with Yze_Magic in that I would be giggling my ass off if we snared Chris Judd and kept all of the above

Fair chance to lose the last one.

Fair chance to lose the last one.

well maybe, but not as part of this reputed deal - if a seperate deal emerged to trade Robbo for a high pick I would be even more happy as we will still get ourselves a quality youngster this year

It's all coming up Demon

It's all coming up Demon

No, we just hope it's all coming up Demon........

Although that would make a very nice change :) !!!

a quick question:

Frawley will be a great backman for the next 10-12 seasons

Judd will be an elite midfielder for the next 6 or so seasons.

Is there any point?

are we even going to be in the premiership window when we have judd?

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
